I have just been window shopping on the internet looking to compare prices and purchase some more tins and bulk tubs of snuff .

Why don’t retailers put the sizes of the products on their adverts ?

I have found Frybourg and Treyer tubular tins for sale on one site with a nice photograph and one price included but  no sizes labelled, not even telling you if it is a small or large tube.

One shop just had a list of names and prices with no mention of the size or photograph to give you a possible clue.

Bulk is advertised as large or small tub, no mention of metric or imperial units.

One shop even said on their advert   “We stock a large assortment of snuffs, please ring for details.”  It is supposed to be an internet shop with all the convenience of internet shopping.

Until these internet retailers get their acts together I think that they will be missing out on a lot of custom.

I wont name my favourite internet retailer as it would just make this post look like an advert for them but their site is a good example as to how things should be on an internet shop.

They list sizes, prices, basic descriptions and availability and all on a tidy, simple to navigate website. Not one of those sites where some computer whizz wants to put in all of the computer frills, tricks and gimmicks that they learned at college.

One clue as to the excellent example to other retailers is that the shop is near Preston, Lancashire.

You will be glad to hear that this is positively my last moan of the year.

Cheers All.

Yeah, I think I’ve stumbled across a few of these sites too. They lost my business! How do these guys expect to win orders, if they’re not clear exactly what it is they’re offering. If it says phone for details, I don’t! If it doesn’t say tin size, I don’t ask that either. If they can’t be bothered to list full details, I can’t be bothered to get my card out of my wallet. I agree on mysmokingshop.com too. The vast majority of the snuff I own comes from there. Excellent service, good assortment, and decent prices (with respectable shipping costs). I have visited the shop a couple of years ago, and the service is just as good in person. I have cleared thebackyshop out of Blue Crest and Yellow Crest, but their offerings are quite limited otherwise, although they can be quite good on McChrystal prices sometimes so worth keeping an eye on. I have used snuffstore recently after a long hiatus, and their prices have gotten a little better than they used to be, and have the odd bargain tucked away in the listings. I also use snuff.me.uk for Jaxons, but have been known to add other things to the order too, and of course I’ve ordered direct from Toque and Wilsons too. I was visiting friends in Wakefield over the last couple of days, and decided to visit Smoke-King in Leeds while I was nearby. Turns out that the high street shop is a different business to the online site, and I couldn’t get what I wanted anyway… so I found a nearby pub with open fire, had a pint, then caught the train home.
