My first encounter with tin corrosion (SG Guarana)

snuff rust                                                                      When I first got into snuff & Snuffhouse, I’d read about certain tins being notorious for corroding (moist F&Ts mostly).  For a little while, I’d get paranoid at the first sight of a little speck of anything not in suit with the rest of the snuff, but I got over it eventually.  This here though - this is crazy!  The tin was fine a few months ago… If you can see the little white specks on the inside wall of the tin, those are little holes.  I gave it a little squeeze and the tin started cracking pretty easily.  I thought some might be interested to see.

it looks like its been buried for a week, this is probably the worst rusted tin ive seen posted. Do you happen to live in a country with very high humidity at the moment? I am curious to what the inside of the tin looks like, i’m sure its shocking. These posts always makes me check my WoS tins in storage.

That’s crazy considering how dry it’s been this winter.

That’s the first time I’ve seen a SG tin succumb to this kind of corrosion. I’ve had a few WoS tins eaten by rust, but not SG.

It’s odd indeed, and I’m thinking the guarana flavoring, whatever that is, is partially responsible, because I have a tupperware container full of SG tins, sealed with electric tape, no humidity/moisture to be seen in the tupperware container, and this is the one tin that ended up like this.  Hopefully that will be the only one!
