On holiday in Bali the other day, the head of my metal snuff spoon finally snapped off. It’s been a bit wobbly and fragile for a while now as a result of being bent and sat upon. Honestly, I’ve forgotten how to take snuff without it. I’ve been meaning to buy a few more for ages, but they’ve been out of stock. Seriously, they are one of the best accessories I’ve ever come across. I hacked a section off a piece of bamboo I found lying around as a makeshift, but I won’t really be happy until I get the metal replacement.
@basement_shaman, yep, those are the ones. Yeah, they don’t like being sat on. To be fair, they tolerate pretty tough treatment for a while, but they eventually pack it in. There was a titanium spoon available for a while, but I found it way too small to be useful.
@Aamon No these are stainless steel Rococo Spoons. They may had been a contract deal along with all the other Rococo items sold by David Anderson empire of snuff and related tobacco accessories. Since I have searched the web over and not found them sold by another entity. They may or may not have dealings together since current rococo inventory is dwindling and have not been restocked.
This may be an option if you cut the spear end off
As someone mentioned a while back, the little spoony ends on the Brigham pipe nails works great. The spoon on a Czech tool works great too - if you need a larger spoon.
go to your local head shop. one near my house sells several different spoons for “dabs” i also got this bullet. these are just stores that sell all sorts of drug paraphernalia
@peacock I took you up on your advice and found my way into the backroom of the local headshop. The helpful clerk led me to the perfect snuffpoon (silly guy kept calling it a “dab tool”, lol) for my needs.
the one I wound up with was made by a company called “skilletools” and the model was called “honey bun”
I got a beautiful little silver spoon on ebay for nine pounds. It turned up yesterday. It’s has the text “Jerusalem” on the head, with some crosses, and some Arabic writing. I can just decipher the word “Allah”, but I suspect it’s a Christian thing, rather than Muslim - the Arab Christians also refer to God as “Allah”. It’s perfect, except too small and dainty to carry around in my pocket on a daily basis, I’d lose it in a week. I just keep it with a snuff box on a little snuff tray on my desk.
Yes the Rococo Spoons from MrSnuff were the perfect size for me and fortunatly I had the foresight to obtain three of them. Often what one sees marketed in headshops were origanly manufactured as ear pics for cleaning one’s ears and seem to be used more in Asia for that function. I think many will find the spoons used for salt cellars to be larger and thus more useful for snuff pigs like me
JakartaBoy. Your lovely spoon looks like one for a salt cellar though I don’t know how silver would hold up under contact with salt though I have seen salt cellar spoons there were silver, and of course gold, often they were bone or ivory because of the rust issue with salt. Now stainless steel seems to be popular
