MrSnuff Customer Service Experience

Mods: please move to the appropriate area of the forum if this isn’t the right place. Hey, gang, I recently made (for me) a very large order from MrSnuff. I’ve been trying to find Navy Plain here and after some mental wrestling I added to my order. There was an inventory glitch: no Navy Plain. Rather than hold up my order, a decision was made to send me RRMills Sweet. Though it was probably a logical substitution from that which they did have, I was disappointed. I understand at least some American snuffs are warehoused within USA. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good substitute for me. I wrote to customer service. I got a response almost instantly from Mike. I had offered to exchange what I had. Mike explained that that would be a chore and immediately credited my account with points worth the cost of the Navy Plain. It was easy for me; I just spent it with some other points I had accumulated. So, in the end, I guess I made out well and MrSnuff keeps a happy customer. Good job, MrSnuff!

Mr. Snuff is a class act all the way.

Absolutely. They also get my orders to the States pronto, where they sometimes languish in Customs. I got one of two boxes from my recent order today…something like five or six days since purchase.

I’ve made lots of orders with Mr. Snuff, and luckily only had to contact customer service once.  An order got sent all the way back to Ireland - which was actually my fault.  They kept me posted, and sent it back to me free of charge.

I’ve only used MrSnuff a few times and never had a problem. I have however been around here long enough to have seen a few concerns posted, and then later seen each and every issue conscientiously addressed. Here in the UK better deals can often be had elsewhere for many snuffs, but MrSnuffs range of products and their customer service are very good indeed. I still use them occasionally for snuff I can’t get from other English sources, and they offer an excellent global service for those who don’t have the purchasing luxuries we do over here.

For us Stateside folks, Mr. Snuff is a vital connection. The Royal Mail cost is onerous, but that’s not in their control. Being the only source we have for a lot of products, they could slack on customer service–knowing we don’t have a lot of options–but they don’t. I sometimes envy UKers, but then I remember how hard it is to get Cornell & Diehl/G L Pease or McClelland tobaccos there.

Well the pipe for me is still very much a minor player. I enjoy it, but don’t see it becoming a major thing for me. From a snuff perspective we are very fortunate though. We have a number of significant producers, several retail outlets, social recognition (to some extent) of snuff, and so far at least there’s minimal governmental interference.

This happened to me on a tin of Santo Domingo that has a bad/rusted seal.

Mike did a quick credit, and I after tossing the top bit of snuff (had flakes in it) - there was some snuff worth saving.

I had the exact same issue with a recent order, where Navy Plain was substituted for Railroad Mills Sweet. I was bothered initially, thinking I should have gotten another plain instead of a sweet, but… snuff happens. #-o

The only time I tried it, I got a Santo Domingo that had eaten up the tin pretty well. I was aware it was possible and why. I had gotten it on sale and salvaged ~40g upon decanting as soon as it arrived. Now I don’t doubt that Mr. Snuff would have made it right had I brought the issue to Customer Service. As it turns out, I don’t particularly care for Santo Domingo. So, that time I said, snuff happens.

@tobe my initial response to rr mills sweet was meh, now it’s one of my favorites. I find it is best with a spoon, not pinching or with bullet. If you haven’t tried it yet with a spoon you might find yourself very happy with the sub. I should add I don’t normally notice a difference between methods, but with that particular snuff I do.

@TerrapinFlyer  Don’t like Santo Domingo?  Heresy!  :slight_smile:

@DireWolf I know, I know. It was a bit over-the-top for me, though it is sleeping in a dark corner waiting for me to revisit in a few months. I know my taste well enough to know that it WILL change. Two boxes from MrSnuff arrived in Chicago over the weekend. I got one yesterday. The other must be in Customs limbo with my Toque order.

Is MrSnuff the same company as the UK’s SnuffStore??

@snuffsahoy I like RRM Sweet well enough, that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that I already had enough of it to last me a decade or more based on frequency of use, then I got two more 30g cans!

@fj1988 Nope, different entities.

Zanaspus, I received a package from SnuffStore today and the small returns label said MrSnuff! I don’t understand…

They are the same company. MrSnuff bought Snuffstore a few years back and continued to run it as a separate site, but AFAIK it’s the same stock, staff, and premises, listing their wares on two sites. Snuffstore in Germany is a totally different entity entirely
