What happened to Mr.Snuffs selections. So many things are gone…? What’s up?
I think a lot of it had to do with snuff companies paring back their product lines due to some EU bureaucratic nonsense.
They could be getting rid of the old stock and replacing it with the new packaging. It seems like there are alot of specials at the moment.
I have noticed the same problem i couldn’t place an order for my favorite McChrystal’s Anisette.
i am hoping it is because snufftaking is becoming more popular as a cheaper alternative to smoking.
So many good snuffs gone. Terrible.
I thought I had read in a post a couple months back that the company was leaving the EU? Maybe they’re trying to sell off a lot of current stock before a move? I have a soft spot for Poschl so hopefully it will still be available. I don’t know where else to find it.
The UK voted to begin negotiations on leaving the EU. That sounds like a process that could take years and possibly end with them not leaving after all.

@Afterglow That train has already left the station. Many many snuffs have now been discontinued. There’s a few still lingering on shelves, but most stockists now seem to be carrying the new renamed/rebadged reduced lines. I don’t know how Poschl are affected, as I avoid mentholated snuffs.
@Afterglow. Any of the discontinued flavors are probably not worth buying as they are probably old and stale… That has been my experience.
My experience is that if snuff is well stored it lasts for many years.
In fact snuff well stored will last longer that the EU.

Most of my stash is discoed stuff :-SS I was having a rummage this weekend to see how my stash is holding up, and found about 1.5kg in unopened tins, a few hundred grams in opened tins, and several kilos in glass jars of various sizes. Thankfully, a lot of the “old and stale” stuff is just dormant, and can be woken back up with a little rehydration. It is true that some snuffs do change in storage though, or at least they do seem to. I have lost a fair bit to mould too. Even sterilised glass jars are no guarantee of snuff longevity. Some last, some don’t.
We are working with the snuff manufacturers on a way to revive as many as possible of the brands that we all know and love but do not sell in large enough volumes to justify registration in the EU. This will likely mean that we will only be able to sell them outside the EU, but then there would be nothing to stop members sending them back to other members within the EU as a private gift. Not ideal, but we’ll keep some classics alive and available.
Thoughts? Is it worth the effort?
thats a huge yes from me! even if you save a quarter of the lost snuffs! i live outside of the EU though. the continued ones might sell more than they used to because there will still be fewer choices. unless the popularity drops off, people are still going to buy the same amount of snuff. of course it all depends on how much business you do outside of the EU already…

If it keeps retailers in business, and manufacturers in business, anything is worth trying. I can’t participate unfortunately, as my days of disposable income are long gone.
Mr. Snuff needs to revamp the German snuff selection. To that note, what English snuffs come closest in likeness to a schmalzler? The only English snuffs I have tried are Fribourg and Treyer’s ‘Seville’ which is scented like house cleaners, (a joke). It seems like soon enough there will be no way of getting stuff from Germany anymore.
There are no English snuffs like Schmalzlers. English law prohibits the oiling of snuff which is why Gawith Apricot is made in Germany. I would say if you want something sort of close, look to South Africa where the grinds can almost trick your nose into thinking it’s an oiled snuff.

I was very disappointed to see that Bernard snuff selection was not what it was. All my favs are missing. What is the deal with those selections?

I very much share this concern. Stocks are dwindling in general. The Bernard line is now down to four snuffs. Has anyone gotten in touch with Mr. Snuff about this? To all appearances they are selling off all of their stock without any restocking. If no one has any info from Mr. Snuff I may get in touch with them on behalf of the folks here.
I sent them a message yesterday night in regards to the German stock but I’ve yet to hear back from them.
believe it or not we are fighting customs to have a EUR6000 released. They are threatening to destroy it because THEY wrongly classified it.

I’ve also found that they don’t even list WoS Grand Cairo on the site anymore even though it’s still in production at Sharrow Mills. As it’s my 2nd favourite snuff I really want to purchase a 1lb drum of that stuff.
Anyway, I received a reply about the German snuffs and I guess the Bernard line will be discontinued by Mr. Snuff and I was asked what Poschl I was looking to buy. I let them know the Schmalzler A Brasil but have yet to hear back once again.

The cause was never mentioned in the brief message I had with David from Mr. Snuff. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the reason why.

how long does MR.Snuff usually take to ship to you guys?? i am going on 3 weeks now and still haven’t got my shipment, every day i am waiting for my mail man to come and he comes empty handed with nothing… (i am in the states, cali to be exact) i have been dying to try this new flavor i ordered i just hate waiting so long lol. @javigeee Just got my last order today and it did take longer than usual… probably has everything to do with Christmas deliveries overwhelming the postal service.
@javigeee I placed an order on 11/21 that has not yet shipped. Sadly, after spending a little time with CS today, I realized all could have been avoided with about 2 minutes of communication.
It seems Mr Snuff knows he’s got us all by the short and curlies as he really has no competition in the free world. Thankfully, I have enough snuff that I can avoid future orders. I really feel for you lot that don’t.
Dave, I’m sorry, I’ve dealt with you for some 17 years or so now, but I think this stuff needs to be said. I suspect you spend less time with the business these days, and I find that understandable. I just wish you’d find a replacement to the guy (who shall remain nameless) who does currently run your business. This man doesn’t have the brains god gave a tic.

I have been talking to Mr.Snuff Via email and all they tell me is that it could take up to 28 days… -.- because of customs. They did happen to ship my order out the very next day I ordered my order tho. Hopefully this week I will get it. I did happen to find a smoke shop with some silver dollar Cherry snuff this weekend. @Zanaspus isnt it wrong to say Mr Snuff caused the problems? There are a lot of factors coming into play. Moving mrsnuff, cause EU sucks, paperwork, controls, customs…hell, I have a friend who lives in the UK, even he has a hard time forwarding snuff to me these days. We can blame xmas, we can blame customs, we can blame politicians, lousy drivers drivin off with our mail…in the end, its everyones fault.

Today was finally the day guys!!! After 3 weeks it delivered!!! I finally get to enjoy some great snuff! Thanks Mr.snuff. Although it took 3 weeks now I know I just have to stock up from now on.
I’ve been waiting for 3 months for my orders from mr.snuff to show up. Of 26 total items only one has been delivered. I keep getting the run-around whenever I ask where my items are. I’d be wary ordering from Mr.snuff.
It seems to me that since the one item that has arrived was an American snuff and all the tracking orders he emailed me are in a format suggesting they were sent from America, Mr.snuff may be only shipping the items from their American warehouse, and keeping the money from the other items. ^ American scotches are shipped from a warehouse is the US and all the other snuffs are shipped from a warehouse in the UK. Thats why you only recieved the scotches, the other snuffs are in a different package that is travelling much further and going to take longer to reach you
And you are aware that in the province of Alberta (this is the only province to have this stupid law) it is illegal to own or possess more that 1kg of tobacco. So if your package weighs more than that ( customs weighs the entire package, box, tins, packaging and all not just the tobacco inside) the package will most likely get seized and destroyed.
I didn’t order a kg, less then 200g total. FYI, that 1kg law doesn’t apply to whole leaf tobacco. I recently got a 2kg shipment of whole leaf.
Upon further checking maybe more then 200g but nowhere near 1000g.

first of all allow me to apologize for the hassles you have experienced.
As some of you may know, I have not been properly at the helm for over 7 months unfortunately. This is due to the fact that most of my time has been spent setting up a new warehouse, moving house etc.
I am really sorry things have gone downhill (they have, not just from your perspective but mine also). I actually had to fire one person because of total incompetence. Two others are on a very short leash indeed.
However come January I can assure you all that things will improve. I plan to hire several new staff, we will be handling all our own shipping and handling, and most importantly I will be hands on once again.
@zanaspus: thank you for your comments. I take all criticism seriously and am grateful when people speak up. Otherwise I have to assume everything is hunky-dory.
I can assure you that I never have and never would operate on a business philosophy of having people “by the short and curlies” I don’t believe that is true and even if it was, I still want to provide the best service and the best selection at a fair price. It is a matter of pride in what I do.
I would be happy if you would give us another chance at earning your business. If you do decide to place another order please email directly with the order number and I make sure it goes through without any glitches (at least for the things under our control).

I can see that the first order shipped on 9th, the second on the 11th , and the last order shipped on the 23rd.
It is possible that Canadian customs are having one of their occasional crackdowns on tobacco imports. Obviously once the goods leave us we have no control after that point, and there is nothing we can do to influence Canadian Customs.
Your orders are a bit early to be overly influenced by the holiday season, though that may have slowed things down a bit.
Regardless, please drop me an email if you still have not received everything and I will reship at no cost to you. We can but hope it will all get through this time.
For what it is worth, and for the reasons pointed out above “Mr.snuff may be only shipping the items from their American warehouse, and keeping the money from the other items” is absolutely not the case. There is no way we could have stayed in business for 10 years (this year as it happens) if we operated like that.

I have received two tins of dental snuff but I only ordered one. None of my other items from any of my orders has arrived. Is it possible to ship it some other way? The way you have tried to so far doesn’t seem to be working at all. New rules regarding putting stamps on tobacco products being shipped to Canada came into force nov. 7th. Maybe that’s the problem. When I ordered these items that law had not come into effect yet so who knows. Also could be the flavoured tobacco plan Trudeau recently passed. Although mr.snuff said if this was the case they would have been informed of it. I don’t think the flavoured ban applies to personal private imports but can’t find out if so.
Has anyone else in Canada received a large order of snuff with some flavour added, as most snuffs do,in the past month?
@Max I just received my order from MrSnuff today. It shipped out on Dec 11th. Although it wasn’t a huge order like you purchased. However, Max, I did post that the tracking number posted on another thread (and I sent you a private message) shows that the package is in Chicago of all place, and it has been awaiting pick up since November 3rd.

I think your right about the whole leaf, the law specifies several different types of processed tobacco but it doesn’t say anything about whole leaf.
So is it for certain that Bernards is discontinuing it’s Schmalzlers. If so, that’s very disappointing and I certainly don’t understand why as they are so popular,no, more than that, beloved.
@Z_2K Bernard is still producing most of its range, Schmalzlers included. As far as I remember, they discontinued only two snuffs: Pariser No. 2 (in 2012) and Feiner Offenbacher Cardinal (in 2013). Some time ago there were false rumours about discontinuation of Gekachelter Virginie.

@MrSnuff: I’m curious about one of my orders. The day after you announced in this thread that WoS Grand Cairo is back on the website, I placed an order for a 450g tub. The next day Mark emailed me to let me know Grand Cairo is discontinued and to make another selection. Any inquiry I’ve made via email or the “Ask us now” chat box that used to be in the bottom-right corner of the webpage has been ignored.
Seeing as in 9 days it’ll be 8 weeks of my order in the “Processed” stage, I’m just wondering what is going on. Is it discontinued and unavailable or isn’t it? Should I make another selection instead of Grand Cairo?
@MrSnuff: Cancel the above post. After being ignored for 2 months by the staff of your company I sent one last email that contained the word: chargeback. Mark (who I really dislike, btw, and I believe to be either incompetent or he just doesn’t care about his job anymore) answered damn near immediately and decided to cancel my order and refund it – which I’m okay with. Then he lied to me in the email he sent letting me know the order was cancelled, and how I know he lied is because I was in contact with the customer service of Sharrow Mills.
Because of my interactions with him I will no longer make any purchases from your businesses. I also will no longer recommend to anyone looking for places to buy snuff to deal with your businesses. I’m sorry it came to this.

@50ft_trad Yeah, I have family in the UK that I worked an arrangement with that will ship me any snuffs I want to get.
I live in midwestern USA and I have never, EVER had any issues whatsoever with any of my orders from Mr. Snuff and Toque as well. All of my orders have been spot on, nothing damaged or missing. As a matter of fact, I cant say enough good things about either. I would recommend to any of my friends looking to buy snuff. Im grateful the US doesnt have draconian tobacco laws and Im sure it helps getting snuff delivered.
Last month I got a package from @Mrsnuff. It was open and a tin of Viking Dark and Thor’s Hammer were missing. The package had 4 tins of Elmo’s Reserve, 1 tin of Firedance, 1 tin of Celtic Talisman and a large tin of Motia. Somebody put a rubber band around the package. Toque does a much better job of packing a package.

Is Mr. Snuff now out of business ? From the comments I have read recently, I’m concerned about placing an order and not receiving it. It seems the variety of snuffs available to order is dwindling, and when I see the Wilsons rose-scented snuff advertised as ROWS of Sharrow, I makes me wonder if the Mr. Snuff web-site has been taken over by Asians. ROWS !? And Wilsons APRI…no Apricot, APRI ! What is this stuff they are pushing ?
They are just complying with the latest TPD (TPD2) reqmts. And it’s not Mr. Snuff, but producers. Please check WoS own website for new names. As of now WoS Menthol is just M. Yes, just single one letter. It seems their former “Cool” was way too cool…

I just put in an order at Mr. Snuff on Saturday, and I’m really optimistic about it. At the end of the day, they are just people and machines that run a business, and a fairly risky one at that. I really hope everything will go on without a hitch. Technology isn’t so far ahead just yet that transactions will happen instantaneously.
Anyone ordering from Toque UK without any problems? I may have to defer to Toque, although it can’t compare with Bernards, IMO. Seems they are up front with the tax men and customs.

I’m really grateful I found this thread. I was wondering what was going on with Mr.Snuff and the lack of Bernard snuffs for a while now. Here’s hoping we will be able to buy it soon after the relocation is complete. I’m on my last two tap boxes. Looks like I’ll be running dry long before I’ll be able to buy more.
On a side note, has anyone tried contacting Bernard directly or the online snuff store “snuff and more” to see if they can send snuff worldwide? I’m tempted to send them an email with the help of google translate, although I believe they will refuse.

Blame the EU for the lack of Bernards. Yes, they have already been contacted and there is nothing to be done about ordering your shmalzlers outside of Germany. I stand by my comments about Mr. Snuff - Ive never had any issue whatsoever with ANY order Ive ever placed.
I say the same as Afterglow about Mr. Snuff except one time when I ordered American snuff from him to ship back to me in America. Invoice said order was complete. To my surprise only little over half the ordered items were in the box. Had to complain till blue in the face to even get store credit. Otherwise never any other problems.
Come to think of it, I’d order snuff from him even before Mr Snuff website was formed!! His contact was his I presume his home when he lived in Canada. When I called it sounded like I caught him in the middle of dinner with a female and a small child clearly noticeable in the background noise!! Seemed a little strange. I asked him if I’d called a a inconvenient moment and he said “no that ok”. So I questioned him with the availability of what was on my wish list. Several of the snuffs I wanted he said, sure no problem! Many on my list he had never even heard of!! He said I’ll look into it and get back to you. I said great I’ll take what you can get me. We swapped info for payment and shipping. Then he explained to me that he was working on a new website related to snuff and was eager to start his own business selling snuff. I’m sure his dinner was stone cold but I think he didn’t even care. I could tell by the excitement in his voice that he was serious. He was still undecided about what it would be called. So after long pleasant chat with him I said I’ll be looking forward to what snuff you can get for me. His resonance was, after I get you money order in the mail I send I asap. At this point it was time to say goodbye and I’d forgotten what his name was and just said “alright Mr. Snuff have a great evening and enjoyed meeting you”. Thanks by by… I nervously sent the MO and crossed my finger. 10 days later low and behold it showed in mail! About a few weeks later surfing the web to source more snuff from somewhere, witch was revealing next to nill here was something brand new I’d never seen before and it was called Mr. Snuff!! Clicked on it and said to myself “holly sh.t” he did !!! That’s when I think the small snowball started to form for his company and my snuff collection. I’ve always wanted to share this experience I had but had to think about how to word is as it was several years. Think it was in 2004. Anyway I do think it’s worth sharing. @MSnuff Dave do you remember this phone call happening pre Mr. Snuff?? As I do and very grateful for it!
Just to make clear now that I’ve finally posted an experience I do cherish, I claim no responsibly for what he name his company or website.
So I have read the thread and have to say I think most of the issues are the growing pains. I have placed more orders with @MrSnuff then I would ever admit to my wife. Some take a week, others have taken a month. Canada Customs is what it is. I have ordered from @Roderick, same deal. Either company has always eventually showed up. I have only ever had one package come broken open from mysmokingshop and they reshipped right away. With such a small community the vendors truly do appreciate their customers. Be patient, and if there were issues. I say give them another shot. My two cents.
Does anyone know why they send by normal mail and not by courier?
Normal mail is cheaper… Also anytime I have used UPS or the like for tobacco they destroy you with taxes. 2 rolls of snus is normally $100ish if it gets caught by customs. By the time UPS was done they wanted about $400 for the taxes, being the “import agent” and some other junk
Couriers ALWAYS charge duties and its always way over taxed. NEVER use a courier for tobacco products unless you like flushing money down the toilet. I don’ t doubt the above situation, $100 customs by regular mail is $400 by UPS.
@dwhyte Hi Thank you so much for your feedback and I really apologize for this bad experience you had with Mr. Snuff. I had made an investigation regarding the issue you described and got to know that the product in question (WoS Grand Cairo 450g tub) was discontinued. This happened so quickly that we did not get an opportunity to inform you and many customers like you about it discontinuation and we had to face a lot of trouble for that. It was at that same time when you ordered, which was around 28th November 2017. We also got in touch with the customer service of Sharrow Mills to confirm if they have discontinued WoS Grand Cairo 450g to which they were also confused and said they would require 15 business days to get this answer to us, so we had to wait and wait for this.
Finally, when we received an update from customer service of Sharrow Mills, they confirmed us that they do have 450g available with them, so we ordered quite a few pcs again. But by that time, things went pretty crazy and all this time, you got miscommunication from Mr. Snuff because we kept on getting HOLD replies from them.
Having said that, I know this is not a time to make excuses and my apology would not take away the pain you had to go through at that time. But, what I can assure is that we have revised everything and have a new hierarchy set up with Mr. Snuff and if you give us a chance to serve you, I am sure this time, we will never ever disappoint you.
I have also looked at your order history with us and I can see that you were a regular customer with Mr. Snuff and if you decide to give us a chance to serve you this time, we will never let you down for sure.

Wow… where was this customer service 5 years ago when snuff selection was plentiful. I guess now that selection is bleak at best it is a must to keep anybody possibly interested in the stuff now.

@Amanda Someone with their finger on the button who can react to problems properly is something that has been needed there for quite some time, and public perception has suffered over recent months. Great to see Dave having someone dedicated to improving the service aspects. @Amanda Sorry, but I’m still hesitant to deal with Mr. Snuff again after an apology from an account that is named Amanda with a picture of the Disney actress Amanda Bynes as the avatar. Seems like disingenuous damage control.

@dwhyte well the question I submitted with the Message support chat on their site (which carries the same portrait), taking a look just now, has been there for 5 days and unseen by their staff (the tool says it in those words) That said, they marked my order shipped within 36 hours of ordering and what I’ve heard on service in the past few weeks is positive. I’m optimistic my order will come in good time and order; looking forward to reporting those results next week.

My first two orders with Mr Snuff have been great! It takes just under 2 (calendar) weeks from order to arrival here in the midwest USA. Well packaged, no damaged products. Snuff is nice and still moist. I appreciate the MrSnuff team keeping these snuffs available for us!
Working on the shopping list for my 3rd order. Nice feature on MrSnuff is that you can keep your cart between sessions if you’re logged in. So each night I add another selection or two to my order, and once it gets to $100 I’ll pull the trigger again.

You know, there are some snuffs that are mislabeled as mentholated when they’re not, such as Rosinski Ochsenkopf, and, from what I’ve read, vice versa, such a Gluck auf Prise. It’d be helpful for those to be corrected.
Man, we should be so grateful for good customer service. In my experience, good service is never guaranteed, no matter where you go. Hell, just take my workplace as an example; I’ve gotten into a couple of physical fights, and more than a couple of heated arguments with customers, as have my coworkers and boss.(not taking the blame here, some of them had it coming).
We should all have a moment to thank the customer service for not just flicking us off if something goes wrong =).
Has anybody noticed price increases on Mr. Snuff? Seems like it might be 10 percent on the Wilsons and SG 25g.
@SammyD13 Hedges, JH Wilson and Poschl prices just skyrocketed at snuffstore.co.uk, too. Seems like system error.
My snuff order from MrSnuff arrived within 8 days from order date and I am happy with all the snuffs I paid for. Particularly, the SWS St-James blend. Yea its pricey, but I have discovered my favorite daily snuff on my very first snuff order! The freebie Fubar doolali tap is definitely not my style, though, I can see it being useful for clearing the sinuses when sick/congested. My dealings with their customer service has been kind and prompt.
I will update further as I make more orders and get my snus issue ironed out, I know MrSnuff shipped it and the issue is with US customs or USPS actually lost the order. So I will have to wait until the required time passes before I can ask MrSnuff to address the issue.
snus order did finally make it, it was shipped out on dec 28th and apparently sat in customs or usps for a month.

I had some concerns with Mr. Snuff in the past and mainly just grumbled about it on this forum or on Reddit. The last issue I had, I brought up my list of grievances and was blown away by the response. Dave and Nikki went way above and beyond in making me a happy customer. Mr. Snuff has clearly made improvements and upgrades and are constantly expanding their inventory. This is a good thing for snuffers. It’s a tough business and it’s easy to take for granted that you can shop for so many snuffs in one place. Hopefully, they’ll be around a long time.
I’m a happy client, I’m three orders in. Toque could take a lesson, the fact that my Toque order cannot be tracked is ridiculous.
I like to spread my money around so I alternate between Mr. Snuff and SnuffStore.uk. I appreciate that both deliver to the US and thusly try to support them equally.
@TidalWave we as a community and Toque as a vendor have experimented with tracked vs. not tracked packages from Royal Mail. The consensus made ~a year ago was that Tracked often took up to two times as long to arrive in the US. So Toque uses the shipping option they do based on feedback from the community and quantitative analysis of performance to the customer. Edit @snuffandsympathy MrSnuff and SnuffStore are separate storefronts for the same company. If you want to spread it around ya might consider snuff.me.uk
I had no idea ar47, seems like MrSnuff shows a wider ranger of stock but I tend to get my orders from SnuffStore a few days sooner.
@ar47 Meanwhile, I have no idea where the package is that I need no later than Dec 6. I can completely understand not using tracked as a default, but to not even offer the option seems… strange. It certainly discourages me from ordering from there again.
Mr snuff has always treated me well. Excellent customer service, friendly people, great snuff.
I made an order on november 11th and they e-mailed me a day or so ago to tell me they don’t know why but the order was returned to them. I asked them to try and send it again…this time they are issuing me a tracking order, free of charge, just to make sure i get it this time…
Never had any complaints and if theye mess something up they will do their best to fix it for me.
They have in me a loyal customer as long as they remain in business.
Does Mr. Snuff ever do free shipping promos? I’ve got a fairly large cart accumulating…
I have gotten free shipping from them 2 or 3 times in the past. Seems like they do it maybe 2 or 3 times a year?
Ok, I’ll just be patient. I’ve made a couple of orders where shipping is 50% of the order total.
