As a sequel to another popular thread, I thought I start up this one. Do you find some snuffs are soothing and uplifting? I find the medium grind, moist snuffs most comforting. The nicotine comes on more slowly. Scents like rose and sandalwood are most soothing to me. French Carrot, Princess Special and Macouba by F&T are sublime relaxants. Among the unscented I commend Sam Gawith’s venerable grind, Kendal Brown or a fine smalzer.
A really good question actually. I don’t think I can point to a specific snuff and say its more relaxing than any other, but I certainly have times when the effects of snuff are relaxing rather than stimulating. I think those times are after a period of relative abstinance and I fill my snuff box up with one of my favourites - Tom Buck, IH22, Royal George or Toque original or natural, take a pinch and then its kind of ‘aaaahh’, if that makes sense. I was at work the other day and after a really busy few hours I took a pinch of Toque natural and it just completely hit the spot in the way a cigarette used to. Maybe I’m just describing addiction…don’t know.
I’ll tell you a few times lately after taking a lot of Snuff while watching TV, it has knocked me right out. It has happened enough times to point the finger at snuff rather then a fluke.
For a relaxing snuff I would have to go with a floral such as jasmine or even dholakia kamal. Sam gawith golden glow or irish d light. Some of the sweet scotch snuffs are pretty relaxing as well. Like Society or Swisher Strawberry. For uplifting, I would have to go with Bespoke G&T again. There is something about it that wakes up body & the mind.
Maybe as relaxing snuff I may consider Society, Buttercup, Tube Rose, Honey Bee, Navy Seet and Stoker’s sweet…in this order.
McChrystals Violet is pretty relaxing, I also like DeKralingse Macouba and Prins Regen allot to relax with.

McChrystal’s Raspberry is pretty relaxing on a warm summer evening.
I agree with BigSnoot that McChrystal’s Violet is relaxing. In my opinion non menthols are more relaxing than menthols. Something about them gives me a warm soothing feeling that I can’t really explain.
Now Ive got into Toque raspberry I find that really relaxing. I also seem to be blending all the time these days, at the moment Im using raspberry mixed with some SP No 1 (J and H)
My relaxing favorites in order are: 1. Toque - toffee 2. SG - afterglow 3. Bernard - zwiefacher They seem to calm me down more than others. I see a wide verity so I think it has a lot to do with what you tend to snuff.
For me relaxing at night with a book is WS Jockey Club.
crumbs of comfort is apptly named in my opinion.
