Hey guys, i recently bought 500g bulk of viking dark from mysmokingshop and ive noticed small white specks in the snuff. They feel kind of grainy with a chalk texture. Could this be salt crystals or is it the beginning of mold? I have looked through other threads on the site but havent seen any photos of anything similar. The second photo is of the general look of the snuff. What do you guys think? Thanks 
My vote is not mold… But I can’t say for sure without examining it under a microscope ( lab or hand micros either works ) I also can’t tell from the pictures but It’s more likely 500 grams will mold sooner than a 25 gram ( depending on environmental conditions, freshness and how you store it ) Mold tends to look fuzzy under a jewelers hand microscope if you have one You could also take the " specs " and culture them, there are plenty of steps all over google on the process. Someone more familiar with snuff might be able to help us out more with this but I don’t think it’s mold unless you’re seeing the " spores " start attaching themselves directly to the snuff molecules… Which should look like brown with white on it and not just pure white specs… This makes me think it’s from the snuff process and/ or aging.

Me too, I have exactly the same as on your picture in my Kralingse Mentholin 100g box. I bought it fresh last month but in some weeks these “crystals” appeared. The snuff’s smell and moisture is still ok. I guess it is a natural process then, not mold as it seems. Not harmful…
