Quick question- I LOVE the smells and tastes of Arabian and North African foods, so I mixed some Toque with cardamom, cinnamon and clove. Is that dangerous to snuff? I figured since they’re safe to eat, they’re probably safe in the nose. But I wasn’t sure and figured I’d ask.

Cinnamon might be tricky, forget the term but it is a substance that absorbs moisture quickly, ever see the spoonful of cinnamon challenge, which is dangerous. Point is I would be wary about dry ground cinnamon in snuff. I mean minuscule quantities should be safe and it shouldn’t take much. But start slow with that one. Ken

snuff is inexpensive, just buy snuff that have those scents you love. Cool Lip by Tej Ram Dharam Paul has all these flavors they come in pouches so you all you need to do is place a pouch in a box with plain snuff. And let it perminate for a day or so

I have no qualms with any of the spices or herbs in my kitchen being in my nose. Well… maybe the one. The textures and the physical reaction with the mucosa can be very different from that with the tobacco. This is not so bad if you know what to expect.

Here comes an advert for my favourite tobacco-free snuff - De Kralinsge Pot Pourri. It’s got all the flavours you mentioned, plus Corn flower, Marigold, Lavender, Majoram, Common sage, Savory, Yellow sandalwood, Orris root, Zeodary, and a touch of Musk, all wetted with a little ethanol (edited from De Kralingses’s discription) - a pinch of that along with something neutral such as SG McCombie or De Kralinsge Hollandse Bolongaro is lovely.

Alright- I had put cinnamon in a veerrryyy small amount of snuff for just that reason. So I tossed it out. I’ve now limited the spices to just small pinches of clove, cardamom, lime water and I’m putting the snuff next to some fragrant essential oils (which are natural not synthetic) in the hopes that it picks up the scent.
