I recently got some McC Supermint, and wow, is this stuff awesome. It’s as strong as a full blown menthol. I hope it don’t clog me like I think menthols can. I am curious about the various mint snuffs and how they compare. I was thinking about ordering WoS Country Mint. So, what are the mint snuffs available, and how are they?
Supermint is indeed powerful. Toque Peppermint is a good snuff and underrated IMO. Do you want peppermint or spearmint? I have not had Country Mint. Samuel Gawith has half a dozen that are peppermint, I beleive.
I really do love WoS Crumbs of Comfort. It’s not mentholated, to my nose, and has a great spearmint flavor. I’d guess mint is hard to do on its own without mentholating it.
There are countless good mint snuffs out there to choose from. Lately Toque Peppermint has been my favorite but other good ones include, SG Peppermint Gold and Dark, Wilson’s Country Mint, Peppermint, Crumbs of Comfort, and Robby’s Top Mint, but the list could go on and on.
Toque Peppermint is on my next order, along with country mint. Ah hell, I’ll add the other ones you just mentioned.
I’m not picky about the kind of mint, spearmint, peppermint. What kind of mint is Supermint? I have had Toque Peppermint, and I do like that. I also have some WoS Crumbs of Comfort on the way. I’m just thinking if I can get that cool refreshing nose blast without menthols, and it’s clogging effect it often(not always) has on me. The Supermint is really good, it did get my nose running, but I don’t think it has clogged me.
zone- Supermint is really strong, I think, almost like Hedges.
I should say, mint, without added menthol. I noticed the SG Peppermint Gold has menthol. What’s your favorite mint snuff, and have you, if you do, experience any nose stoppage from it, like one might with menthols. I love menthols, I think more than non-menthols, but everyone tells me it’s the menthols when I say I get really stopped up for long periods of time.
I have a hard time believing that anything with no menthol or clove could be as strong as Hedges L260. However, I’ll add it on to my next order and you can laugh at me when I blow off the top part of my head.
I like WOS Prime Minister. It is spearmint along with a little menthol and a whole assortment of MLS (menthol like stuff)
a whole assortment of MLS (menthol like stuff) probably other “medicated” flavors such as camphor and eucalyptus. Prime Minister is very nice, I agree. The menthol is fairly relaxed in that one, but we are comparing menthol free ones for Tom. Tom, Supermint is peppermint. You probably have the most nose blasting non-menthol mint snuff there already, but as you are keen to experiment, there’s no reason not to try others. Crumbs of Comfort is spearmint. It has a pretty good near menthol blast to it too. SG Afterglow is peppermint, but its a courser grind and not really a “blast effect”. Its still good though. Wilson’s Peppermint is non menthol and is along the lines of Supermint and Toque. Probably between them in “blast” effect but somwhat sweeter than both. Why not get a min tin and compare? Don’t forget aniseed (if you care for the flavor) I find that they also can have a similar effect as mints.
I wondering whether tom502 is talking about mint, the plant of which one can use the leaves for food flavouring. The nearest to this I’ve had in snuff is WoS Prime Minister. All the others are either peppermint or spearmint. Personally I like Toque Peppermint a lot because it’s sweet like candy and it reminds me of Wilsons XXX mints which we had as kids. Taxi Rock is spearmint
I’ll try some more of these, maybe even those with menthol. I don’t know what it is with me, maybe it was the Supermint, but I got totally stopped up last night and couldn’t sleep because I could hardly breath, if at all through my nose. I haven’t had any menthols, so I am not convinced it’s just that. It’s me, of course, and how/why I have this reaction. I really like snuff, so I want to figure out how to avoid this. What is it that makes one stop up? It’s not an external thing like a cork, it must be, I’d think irritated sinus that swell and close the passageway. One thing I know I do, if binge snuff and blow. I’ll snuff, then I usually get some nose moisture building, maybe a sneeze, then I’ll blow, and do it again, and again… I would think that would be irritating to my nose. I’m going to try an experiment and pace my snuffing. Like once an hour. I did the neti pot a little while ago, and feel pretty clear right now. It’s 9:12am, and haven’t snuffed today. I might try a little at 10am, see how it goes, and then at 11am. I thought about just cutting off from snuffing at like 5pm, but then I think I’d end up just bing snuffing in the morning hours. I’ll try the hour, if that doesn’t help, and hour and a half, etc.
Hey buddy well I think its to do with your snuff types mint will clog you up due to menthol shrinks the tubes in the nose which causes the nose to feel blocked up … I remember Roderick stating how funny it was that people say menthol opens them up when in actual fact it does the oposite ! My advice to you would be try a base snuff and work from their like toque natural or well anything plain then try vanilla etc I only use menthol when I have a cold as I’m already blocked up so who cares lol I hope this helps you a little bit I don’t think spacing out you snuff will make any difference it will happen no matter what using any snuff with Any amount of menthol in it …if the snuff that clots you isn’t menthol then still do the above try toque natural or order the 10 tin sample and see what effect each flavor has on you or just test the water by mixing tiny bits of other snuff with the neutral …
Thanks. I’m gonna try my experiment. Also with no mint or menthols snuffs in a row, and also I think I have a tendancy to overblow my nose, so I am working on doing that less forcefully, more natural, as I am sure that irritates it too, doing beig hard honking nose blows, or it would seem.
