Ok I recently started using nasal snuff and my local tea shop (or cigar/pipe store for those who don’t alsoe smoke) and they only carry one brand Dean Swift I picked up cherry and rasberry. And when Open’d them discover’d that yep they are both menthol. Is there any snuffs out there that A. aren’t menthol and B. have a stronger nic hit scince i am trying to stop cigarettes. I thank you in advance for your help.

Lots of snuffs don’t have menthol Check out the links to the right. Look at the snuffs they have. I think most snuffs are stronger then dean swift by the way. It’s been a long time since I’ve had their snuffs. Back to what I was saying most of the snuffs that are sold on the links to the right will tell you what scents they have in their discriptions. The dean swifts without menthol are Deans choice, Inch Kenneth, and I think one more.

there is a wide variety of snuffs out there - possible far more then you think right now. many of them are without menthol.i personally love good menthol snuffs but i can clearly understand why people may not like them this much. about the nic hit it is the same, there is a wide variety from low nic content to strong nic content. if you look for pure nic statisfaction to get you away from smoking cigarettes you should dry some HDT (High Dry Toast) or some snuffs from South-Afrike like Taxi Strong, Babahton Blue or NTSU Black. hope that helps a bit.

also instead of looking for stronger snuff find a way to take bigger pinches.

both are good ways to get nic hit but when the nic content is very slow, i dont think that bigger pinches help that much… at least not if you refrain from HUGE pinches

thanks guys and yeah seems like there is alot of stuff out there. I wanna try the wow coffee bite and some touqe coke flavor, but yeah i am taking two good sized pinches in each side about every 30 min. or so, so bigger pinches arent working. i would like to try maybe some of the scotches that are available at my local grocery but don’t think i will like the “smokey” flavor that keeps being described. but much thanks bob, and prismaster will take your advice with stride.

about every thirty minutes that’s about the average between pinch times. For some it’s closer to 20 minutes.

Once again… You’ll see we are BIG Toque believers in this forum. I would suggest going to the Toque website and ordering their 10 for 9 tin special. There are many varieties to choose from (many non-mentholated) and I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking. Anyway… Welcome!

If I’m not mistaken, Dean Swift hasn’t been made in a few years. I might be wrong though as I have never tried it.

That is such a good point, about all the snuff in U.S. “tobacco” shops being mentholated. @Roderick is our best hope at this time to introduce the U.S. to “regular” snuff, although his “not as mentholated” will still irk this. I will ride him on this point here as often as I can. Good will to all!

I bet there is some kind of strange quota system in place that requires a certain percent of imported nasal snuffs to be mentholated. I’am joking but at the same time if someone said I was right I wouldn’t be too suprised.

well the more i do the cherry the less the menthol bothers me, its almost starting to kind of refreshing now. but the rasbery dean swift is SO STRONG menthol its almost too much. but nachman I dont know if they still make it or not like i said its the only snuff they had and aparently it had been there awhile lol

Get you some Rooster. When I was trying to quit smoking I tried several scotches and kept right on smoking. When I got my first can of Rooster, I never had a significant urge again. And it definitely has that smokey flavor. If it’s too much for you, it’s a really good mixer to kick it up a notch.

Starr scotch has a decent nic-kick and has less of a smokey flavour than most scotches

dean swift is not made anymore. Proof that some exorcisms work. (running joke about dean swift being made by the devil). It’s been over five years if I remember correctly.

that may explain why it has no fruit flavor anymore and is realy dry. Bob at the tea shop said that he didnt know how long it had been there because nobody bought it. But its all they had so I got it, and am waiting on my toque shipment. coke, peach, and blueberry!

I used to get dean swift when it was still being made. I often got it fresh too. And the thing is probably my least favorite snuff brand. Also it’s more expensive per gram then the other better snuffs. You’ll love the toque. toque is awesome. In fact the company that makes dean swift is also really good too. Wilsons of sharrow. If you like the toque definatly check out the wilsons they’re relativily similar.

Mr. Snuff still has most of the Dean Swifts. I think they just stopped making them last year. Not a good seller… but what do you expect when you name a snuff after a hairball.

@snuffeysouthcarolina dont forget, the snuff world isnt only about Toque, make sure to buy some of the others too - at least the moment when you are sure that you want to stay with snuff (nothing against Toque besides the little hype which is going on here since several months)

The worst Toque is better than the best Dean Swift. Wait, not quite. The second worst Toque is better than the best Dean Swift. Cheese & Bacon is worse than the worst Dean Swift.

lol@Bart I really like the cheese and bacon! I wish it had an even stronger scent but its still excellent as is. I’d probably enjoy a dirty Roderick ahaha I also think any hype surrounding Toque is well deserved, they make great snuff.

@jbruckus hype is more or less negative, so no hype is a good one because it leads to distraction. i dont have anything against Toque and use one or two of them myself nor have i any interest to harm someone´s buisness BUT to point every single newbie who asks for adive to the 10-cans-deal of Toque is quite one-dimensional imho. nothing more. to save my face i have to admit that myself use Toque too so it is nothing against their snuff or the firm itself

yeah Toque was okay when I got it. I haven’t tried that much though. There’s still a bunch of them I’d like to try I’m a sucker for Wilsons of Sharrow though…

To the original poster,i like Toque Quit and Rooster to keep me from smoking. I still have a cig or two a day but that used to be 2 packs a couple months ago before i started using Toque’s snuff and Rooster. I do often mix Quit with some Spanish Gem for a change of scent but i always use Quit as the base for any mix. Those are my two suggestions,from a almost ex smoker,lol.

@buffalo Quit is the base used in Spanish Gem so your not adding more nic your just “watering down” the flavour.

@buffalo if you’re trying to quit smoking then why don’t you just do it? I mean it’s easier said than done, but why do you HAVE to have that one cig a day? You should try it might be easier to go without now than you think… just use snuff! (I use an ecig and it really helped me…)
