Is there a Menthol or Mint Toast? If so what are some good ones?
No. There was one once, Gallaher’s Wit & Wisdom. Long gone now.
That would be nice though. Depending on the mood my nose is in, it usually takes either a fine snuff like a toast or a menthol to get it cleared up. A two-in-one would be nice. Even something like a menthol on the Quit base might work well. Snafu Medicated with Fubar Toasted? I’ll have to try it tonight.
I have tried to add mentholated snuffs to toasts, the outcome is usually somewhat mediocre, usually the mentholated snuff waters down the flavor of the toast. The only way to make a pure menthol toast is to add menthol to the toast. This is something I still want to try.
dragun menthol is pretty awesome.

I wonder if one of our snuff masters could make something along the lines of Gallaher’s Wit and Wisdom? Do you think there would be enough interest by others in such a snuff?
@WVDAVE absolutely!
You could just as easy grind your own mint leaves and add them in. I grind spearmint leaves to add to Railroad mills sweet. You get the added benefit of natural sources. Spearmint I believe contains 20% menthol and peppermint 40%
@ MattheFox, wouldn’t that change the moisture content of the toast tobacco?
@WVDAVE not in the least. I get gourmet leaves at the store and they are so dry that just a couple turns with a snuff grinder & they are dust. The spearmint somehow makes it to your mouth and feels like you just had a piece of gum. Pretty nice
Mint toast. I like that idea. Not so sure about a menthol toast though.
@SnuffySnuff that’s what I was leaning towards a mint toast.
I’ve made menthol toasts with good results. The key is to use as little menthol as possible, you want it to have an ever-so-slight hint of menthol in the backround. I just added a teeny tiny pinch of Toque Menthol to get my menthol toast
@n9inchnails I’m thinking Wilsons Crumbs of Comfort.
I did the same as @n9inchnails just the slightest bit of dynamite like 1/4 match head to teaspoon of toast. It was a cool toast but I enjoy them unadulterated. Maybe some checkerberry mix with a toast. Now you got this mad scientist clock turning.
I’m thinking ground menthol crystals so we don’t lose any of the toasty parts to other snuff. I should clarify, that my sample of Wit & Wisdom though through time and entropy had lost 99% of any menthol that was in it. I could sense that it had been there, but not aught. However! …However, this was not a “high” toast. The grind and dryness are more akin to WoS #20 sans that one’s flavor.
Not a toast, but I’ve been into the Sparrow Cool quite a bit lately. It resembles a toast in grind and moisture, it just lacks the smoky, buttery characteristics. It does have a nice pure tobacco taste. The menthol level is perfect too IMO. Just enough to get the cooling effect but not enough to hide the tobacco. Good nicotine level too.
Just conducted an experiment. Almond Toast base, tiny bit of Toque Vanilla, tiny bit of Honey Bee, tiny bit of 6 photo Super Kailash. Toasty, floral/sweet and lightly mentholated. Perhaps not the best concoction but not bad either.
Having given this further thought, I think I’d only trust Toque to get either of these right and I’m still pretty doubtful about a mentholated toast.
I home grind a peppermint toast, pipe cut pipe baccy from P Stokkebye, ground with peppermint essential oils, roasted and reground…toasty and minty… :-?
