I dislike menthol. I keep one tin on hand in case I get sick because I find it allows me to take snuff when I’m congested and get some temporary relief as well.
I just hate this Pöschl I have. My question is, is there an English or Indian menthol that a tobacco lover can embrace? I normally snuff dark, moist tobaccos like Kendal Brown, Best Dark, Lavender Dark etc. Would one of the peppermint SG snuffs have a similar clearing effect? Thanks guys.
This thread brings to mind the Most Interesting Man in the World commercials for Dos Equis beer. I don’t always snuff menthol, but when I do, I prefer…
I’m not a huge menthol fan myself, but I also agree with the O&G recommendation. For some reason, I’m fairly fond of Dholakia medicated…while not so much dark, it seems to hit the spot just right for me. Just my .02 though.
I am getting a tin of Peppermint Dark and a tin of Mastiff. I can just squeeze tins of WoS SM Brown and Venter’s Menthol & Camphor into my cart without the shipping going up, or I can ditch the Venter’s and get a 6 Photo Medicated 66. Opinions on Venter’s & 6 Photo 66?
I second the SG Peppermint Dark, very good imo, dark and soothing. I would also second Hedges-but it’s very strongly medicated, and recommend looking into some of Wilson’s: SM 500, SM Gold, SM Brown(all strong). Also Wilsons less mentholated offerings: Apricot Menthol (if you like fruit), SM… Maybe Taxi Green from South Africa- strong tobacco, but not heavy in menthol. Or other South Africans which come in natural and menthol: Ntsu, Babaton etc. I’d also recommend Dholakia Sparrow Cool, Dholakia Medicated has a stronger (imo not as clean) scent from the base tobacco. Also Toque has a nice selection of menthols: Menthol (strongly medicated), Blueberry Menthol, Cherry Menthol, and Raspberry Menthol are all very nice, the fruit and menthols use the menthol in moderation. Good luck!
I heartily suggest SG Menthol Brown. It is the Kendal Brown base with just enough menthol to open you up, but not so much menthol as to overwhelm the delicious tobacco base. I have a friend who, like you, hates menthols, but even he can get down on some Menthol Brown. I really think it is an overlooked snuff; it’s what I start my day with almost every day.
