We know that listening to a song can trigger memories of certain times in the past that are “burned in” to that song while listening to it. I’ve noticed that works with snuff too. The smell of a certain snuff or just thinking about it triggers memories for me of when I have used it in the past. For a while now, Viking Brown has been my all day snuff, so I’m guessing later when I think about it I’ll get memories or a feeling of this whole era I’ve been using it in. So far, it triggers memories of playing Arma 2 and DayZ, which was around the time I first started using it. I’m going to a fest tomorrow, so maybe I should designate a certain snuff to use for most of the weekend. I don’t have too many to choose from that I can do constantly and I want to “burn in” the memories to something other than the Viking Brown, so I gotta figure that out still. I just got some WoS Irish High Toast No. 22 so I think that’ll be the one!

Definitely, there are some snuffs that I was using heavily at times of my life that were emotionally charged one way or the other for one reason or another and those snuffs are very evocative to me now.

Yes, it definitely happens with me as well. One clear memory triggered for me is with use of Wild Duck. Interestingly enough it reminds me of going hunting. The smell is a smoky minty flavor that makes me think of campfires and bedrolls on the ground near water with mint in the background. A pleasant memory for sure!!!

@stogie thanks for that review. I just dug out my tin of neglected Wild Duck and took a couple of big pinches and your review is spot on.

my tops and dregs jar still smells very similar to how it did around christmas, due to me not having purchased or used much of a variety since (sadly, but i feel im moving more towards a few core snuffs and snus). every time i use it im taken back to the Next retail stockroom haha. i used it quite heavily on that job.

Every Saturday I do a good spoon full of Cafe Royale. It immediately brings back memories of being stationed in Brussels and the many great trips to London and visits to classics like G. Smith & Sons, horny English girls, Fribourg & Treyer, Dunhill, perfect pints of real beer, Snake and Kidley pie, horny English girls, proper fry up breakfasts, the sights, sounds and smells of London, horny English girls, genuine fish and chips, tikka masala, deviled kidneys and kedgeree. Did I mention the horny English girls?

Snake and Kidley pie

really?

The locals insisted it was Steak and Kidney Pie. I’m not sure, but I do know I love the stuff. And Spotted Dick for pudding.
