I don’t know why but, i don’t really enjoy almost any of the toques. I have tried Spanish Gem, Peppermint, Xmas Pudding, Blueberry, Chocolate, Lime Toast, Natural Toast, Coke, Peanut Butter, Quit, Menthol and Vanilla.

The only ones out of all those that i liked, were Xmas Pudding and Peppermint.

I don’t know why but i don’t enjoy the toque snuffs =(

I don’t know if its the texture, flavor, moistness or what but they just don’t work for me.

I tried McCrystals Lemon too and i didn’t like that either.

I find the snuff i enjoy the most, and the only snuff i do daily, is the Poschl snuffs

J

Try filling an empty Poschl box with one of those. You may just not like pinching. Also, keeping those snuffs you don’t like at a proper snuffing humidity might be the problem. It does take a certain amount of conscious effort. Any way if you are only going to snuff a few times a day Poschl snuffs are a perfect choice.

S

I’m in the same boat. But I do enjoy lime toast, quit, and the occasional bourbon. I have tried all the toques I care to, probably 10 or so. The original which is supposed to be a really well regarded sp just couldn’t keep me from wilsons instead. I think WIlsons of sharrow makes the best sps and for a coarse snuff I go for Viking. Samuel gawith makes some good coarse snuffs but the Viking nicotine and ease of pinching lures me in. I’ve only tried a few poschls and I liked them, but haven’t ordered anymore I like pinching

T

I don’t like Poschl’s at all but I like Toque’s range a lot - so there you go, we all like different things, and everyone’s taste is subjective so use what you enjoy most

S

Yes, i agree with Theatre … i do not care for Poschl or Braniff or many others … but can snuff Toque 100% … go with what you like and no need to reason why you don’t like one thing over another … too much to go around.  but … it may be you will come around to McC’s or Toque as your technique changes, etc. Worth holding on to for later.

B

I’am thirding that idea. If you like poschels well they are very diffrent then toques. Also if you’re used to german snuffs english snuffs are diffrent to snuff. Much of the enjoyment in snuff comes from proper snuffing which is diffrent for diffrent types of snuff. If the snuff doesn’t sit in the nose (goes further back) you don’t get all the scent or nic, which will make a snuff not seem as good.

C

I love the Toque snuffs and find them very satisfying and easy on the nose. I wouldn’t be averse to a German non-schmalzler snuff, but they all seem to contain a ridiculous amount of menthol, for my tastes.

G

Not sure where to ask this so might as well try here. I am gonna make a Toque order next week and I am wondering how Toque menthol compares to other menthols. Is is more/less/same in menthol strength? The only menthol I have used is Gawith Hoggarth’s CM and I was wondering if the Toque menthol is stronger or weaker? I would look it up on snuff reviews but they have disappeared apparently. All opinions welcome. Oh and on topic I love the Toques and am probably gonna stick strictly with Toques and American scotches.

S

Toque is my favorite brand as well. I have had German snuffs I like a lot but they are not all day snuffs for me as they tend to clog me up.

J

The only one of the toques that i truly enjoy, that i do on an almost daily basis, is the peppermint.

I guess it could be that for a long time i only did poschls…for the first 5months of my snuffing i only did poschl and i only tried toque in the last two months or so because i wanted something non-menthol, because i do have to admit, the constant non-stop menthol of poschl gets old after awhile.

T

I like a large portion of the ones I’ve tried.  I could do without St. Clements.  But Rose is defintely an all day snuff with me.

H

Well, you know what they say. “Different Toques for different folks.” …I feel like I should apologize for that terrible pun, lol.

J

Lol i actually like that.

little bit OT but im placing a new poschl order  =D

Ozona Raspberry x1     Gletcher Prise x1

Ozona Cherry x1          Gawith Cola x1

Ozona Orange x1

Lowen Prise x1                   I have enough to buy one more…any suggestions?

Ozona President x2

Packards Club x1

Snuffy Weiss x1

J

Dude why get Snuffy Weis? Isn’t it non-tobacco? I mean at least try the Radford Premium or Alpina. Those are the only two that most people around here like.

J

The snuffy is cause i like to mess with people   >.>

and i have thought of getting the Alpina, as most people seem to give it a positive review

M

I second the Radford Premium, it’s definately one of the mildest (if not the mildest)as in easy to take and pleasant. Imo it just may be the best of the Poschl’s. Number 2 and 3 imo, would be (in no particular order) the Gawith Apricot and the Packards club. Although I’ve never had Lowen Prise, Alpina, or cola. Also the Gletscher Prise is pretty mentholey if that’s what you like, much more than the menthol and fruits…

S

I can see why toque has a large fan base. I don’t see any reason I don’t like most snuffs from them I am just into a coarse natural or sp type flavor most of the timeo

V

I told you in the other post what poschls to get. If you have a hard time finding english snuffs you like, try viking peach and SG vanilla.

S

I like most of the toques I have tried (21 to be exact) I have only been disappointed by the Grapefruit and Expresso due to lack of flavor.

S

My favorites are the Natural and the Original, the tobacco used in all Toques is top quality but the aroma’s disappear rather quickly because they are all natural. When I open a tin, for me it has to be used within a couple of days or I lose interest.

G

I don’t know if it’s a particularity of my metabolism, but, the problem I have with Toques products is on the level of nicotine rush,I feel it on those products but not of the same quality of others snuffs.I think it’s possibly done with their mean to make the snuff less burning in nose. It’s a problem because I find their flavors very interesting.

J

I would agree with gandalf. If only the Toques were a touch more alkalized or maybe salted, fermented or something, I can’t say but there does in comparison to some other snuffs seem to be something missing. This has been brought to Roderick’s attention before. I can’t remember his response but I do remember it was very reasonable. I think (I hope) once he gets back to creating new snuffs he will experiment more in this area. The fresher the snuff the better in most types of English snuffs. Poschl with all it’s added ingredients doesn’t really have this problem.

Z

I think it’s a texture issue. Although I like many of them, they seem to my humble nose to be even harder to take than American Scotches. It’s not that they are finer, but at some point with minimal “suck” even Scotches just jump into the nose, whereas Toques seem to take more pressure to sniff while being almost as fine. I have to concentrate whenever I am taking Toque as much as if I were taking Dholakia White to avoid lungage.

I have no solution to this. I only put forth that the grind can be mastered with care.

D

@zanaspus I know exactly what you mean.  I had to develop an entirely new technique to even take quit without 90% firing into my lungs.  The others I do pretty well with, but there is something about the grind that seems to irritate my nose a bit. I still love the scents, I just can’t use anything but the toastss as an all day snuff.

J

i cant even get on the poschl site now

J

I Love mrsnuff.com!!! I forgot about the reward points, and from that and a coupon code, i was able to get another 2 cans!!!

V

There is one way to get Toques to stop going right to the throat. It’s a little bit difficult to explain, but try to make yourself gag, and what I mean by that is the point of the ‘gag’ in which your throat is shut…hold it like that, take a pinch, sniff, and make sure your throat immediatly closes up. This worked for me every time, but it’s a little difficult to master…but once mastered…no more throat coat!

But seriously, Toques whisky and honey is one of the best…and that is the end of that!
