Whats up with these tins i bought a large tin of O & G and thought that was their large tin but yesterday i received my McChrystals S.P Snuff also listed as a large tin and the tin is huge which is great because i love it but surely a companys large tins should be the same. I love Mchrystals snuff they produce some of my favourite snuffs but the sizes are a bit off those 3.5g tins are just too small and i would like the O & G in the same size as the SP. Does anyone else think these sizes are a bit odd.
The O&G ‘large’ tin, the 25g one is actually called the extra large tin. Maybe the web site you got it from just lists them differently?
Thanks mopey i will look for the extra large O&G next time i buy. I think you are right as thinking about it if they were listed in grams that would solve the problem. I wish those 3.5g tins were just sold in 10gs instead
In SA we can buy McChrystals O&G in three sizes: small, about 5g, medium, about 12.5g and large about 25g. I wish Wilsons of Sharrow would do the same. I HATE those small tins.
The Large O&G I sell are 21g. The Medium are 8.75g and the Small are 3.5g. Admittedly, I have never actually opened them and measured the amount of snuff actually in the tins. Tom NicotineRush.com
Thats what i thought Tom but the SP Snuff is in a massive tin its the same size as the Hedges L260 and looks twice the size of the O&G which i guess must be the 21g tin so how many grams is the SP

This is a sorry state of affairs. Now the traditional “medium” F&T tins are a full ounce (28g). They also offer a large size of two full ounces. (56g.) Now Mr. McChrystal has some nerved calling anything less than an ounce as “Extra Large.” We have come a long way. Some snuff makers must dream of the day when they can charge us by the pinch.
Phooey on those small tins. I don’t like em. To make it more confusing, American snuffs are sold by ounces instead of grams. I have an old glass W.E. Garret jar that looks to be about a pint.
It is all very strange as you don’t seem to see all the McChrystals products in all the sizes either i wanted some apricot snuff but those 3.5g tins put me off so bought the WoS apricot instead only didn’t think much of it so got the Samuel Gawith apricot and love that. If you like a snuff what use are 3.5g tins only really any good for free samples or maybe i’ll wash a couple out and use them to keep my contact lenses in.
Well put Big Al. And considering how fast O&G vanishes from the tin its just a big tease to put it in such a tiny can.

Do any of the McChrystals snuffs come in the plastic containers? Snuff Store shows Highland Ice in a red plastic box. Maybe these are old boxes?
Yes some of the McCrystal’s come in red plastic containers say:- Mild Lemon, Anisette, Violet, English Menthol, Supermint and of cause your Highland Ice. Snuff Store’s stock is not old, Tim buys in smallish quantities, and regular.
