McChrystal's Mild Lemon

This is, for me, one of the nicest lemon flavoured snuffs available yet it seems as if it’s not very popular amongst our members. I can, and do, use this snuff all day long because it’s like an SP to me. It’s soft on the nose, easy to take and the lemon flavour is “just right”. The feel of the snuff is silky between the fingers and the aroma lingers for quite a while. It has become one of my daily favourites and is one of my top 5 snuffs.

Never got on with it myself. Do like the aroma but a touch too dry for me

It’s a tad too harsh for me. I much prefer Wilsons Lemon Grove.

I like the McChrystals better than the Lemon Grove because it is more lemony, but I am waiting for hot weather to do either (and I have both in the fridge). To me, they are summer scents. Of course Pieter is just finishing his summer so he has been using summer scents for a while now.

I like Mild Lemon and Wilsons Lemon Grove. Pity McC’s red containers are not airtight, my last one I ordered wasn’t even snufftight as there was Mild Lemon loose inside the jiffy bag.

If you have some Gawith Hoggarth Dry Orange to hand, try a equal mix of both Dry Orange and Mild Lemon. Nice Orange & Lemon Snuff.

Thanks Snuff Head. Sounds good.

@ Nachman, your welcome.

@ Snuff Head, I still have a 25g (?) tin of of Mild Lemon in use and when that’s depleted, I will open a 200g tub which I’ve received recently. I’ve had the same problem with another McC’s red container where a lot of snuff leaked into the jiffy bag. I won’t order anymore of those rubbish.

@John, I’ve tried your recipe of Lemon and Orange and I thank you for the tip! Very tasty blend indeed. @Nachman, quite right, we are still enjoying the last bit of summer. Very soon I will switch to “warmer” stuff like the Schmalzlers etc.

I love it as well! Lemon Grove is also excellent, so I will not choose between the two. They are both different enough to keep on hand if you are a citrus scent lover. I think both are on my Bulk Purchase Dream List. My Mild Lemon was in a round tin, and not leaky. Its as good as a Wilson’s tin. I would recommend avoiding the red boxes also. I like your recipe, Snuff Head. I will have to try it. I’m low on Dry Orange though.

Thanks Pieter & Xander. I’ve just tried another mix of Dry Orange & Lemon Grove, and that’s very nice too. Again mixed equal.

Snuff Head, I think once upon a time GH made a Dry Lemon. I wonder if it was any good.

I have a 200 g tub of Mild Lemon in storage, another 200 g tub on the way, and five little 4.4 gram tins I use as snuff boxes (I love the little McChrystals tins). And I’ll probably buy another tub just to be on the safe side. I really love it.

This is one of my favorites, great lemon hit, almost too much if one is careless, but so refreshing. I too have stocked up, except I am beginning to wonder if I am actually allergic to it, just makes my nose run, then stops up. Been trying to over come this problem for a week now. Great snuff and would be a great loss if I have to give it up.

@ LHB: and I thought cstokes was bad about his Grand Cairo. Mild Lemon is excellent, but sadly it does not enable one to fold space.

@ Xander You are quite right. But I’ve been importing space into my otherwise modest domicile by buying several jars every week. Each jar has a volume of about 120 cubic inches. If you can’t afford a bigger dwelling, just import more space into your existing one!

Agree. Mild Lemon is the best citrus snuff, hands down. I also find it very “SP-like” and can use it all day.

Mild Lemon is one of my favorites. I recently ordered a 200g tub of it. I actually like it better then Best SP. One of the mixes I’ve done with is with Swishers Honey Bee.

Mild Lemon and Anisette are my all time favorite McChrystal’s. They are definately permanent selections in my Top 10 Snuff Classics. Ok, so I was looking around a smoke shop, trying to find some Nat Sherman Touch of Clove cigarettes, and saw a tin of Wilson Of Sharrow’s Lemon Grove. Only thing is, its in a tin I’ve never seen Wilson’s come in before. Is this stuff really old or something?
