Tried to make an order with Toque… but the darn site kept declining my payment! Using Mastercard… got plenty of cheddar in account and numbers were checked 100 times! Roderick what’s going on?
Problem with the bank wont accept transactions from that country… sucks ass!
Had to use another payment method. Should be on the way… thank God!
I used Visa. It worked as far I can tell. Is that the cover art from the movie SNUFF you have as your avatar snuffnpuff?
Mastercard, at least here in the US, is now requiring any online, phone, or mail order purchase of tobacco products to pay them $1000.00 PER YEAR! I told them to go f themselves. Tom
@bakdoor Tom, I hope you spelled it out for them! Nitwits.
I’ve been disturbed by this topic for some time. I’m keeping a close eye on Mastercard and Visa both. Its bad enough to impose a consumer clamp down on credit card holders but this spills over into debit/checking transfers which means its none of their damn business how I spend my money. I also object to the strong arm coercion of the processing companies that vendors have to rely on. We all know good and well that this is part of a concerted campaign to stomp on RYO internet sales. Eyes are on you Mastercard. Keep pushing us and we’ll see where it leads.
Wow…it’s just damn hard for an honest company to make an honest buck!!! Who the hell does Bastardcard think they are anyway…tryin ta tell pople what to spend their own money on!! Heck it wasn’t too awful long ago that Jerry Springer was paying for hookers with a personal check, and now you can’t use a credit card to buy tobacco!!! I’m glad Tom and Roderick aren’t buying into their BS…way to take a stand guys!!
Yeah boycot those mastercard bastards… I used my Visa card and it went through just fine.
I had this problem yesterday! I was ready to order from the Toque website with my Amex card but when I reached the checkout screen to enter my card digits American Express was not an accepted card.
You don’t get much more multinational than you Rodrick. Do you say thee and summat yet?
What a trip. I don’t grok Bastardcard’s thinking on this. If it’s just a way to charge merchants extra, I can at least understand that, but if they’re bending to the will of special interests, we are in deep caca. The anti-tobacco lobby has gotten way too much petting lately for my taste. Some people just need an actual life, one that’s interesting enough they can keep out of everyone else’s. But the world if full of people who think they need to manage their neighbor’s affairs too. I’m getting sicker of that crap every day. When companies start doing it, the world has gone too strange for me. I’m going to win the lottery, buy an island with its own water source, and leave civilization behind. Will some of you guys do snuff deliveries for me? We’ll build a bonfire on the beach, get roaring drunk, and curse big companies and meddlesome dimwits. Maybe we’ll stick pins in voodoo dolls that represent Bastardcard and Microsoft and lobbyists.
Almost a violation of the free trade agreement…hmmmmmmm
It seems to me that extra large corporations push for more regulations just to keep the small businesses out of the market. Really sad. I wish they would just leave us little people alone and let us enjoy what simple pleasures we are blessed with, without having to look over are shoulders all the time, and worry about when it is going to be taken from us in the middle of the night.
double think is the norm these days, especially around the word freedom.
F*ck bastardcard and all the control freeks thinking they can run our lives! The big companies are trying to shut down all the little guys. Like John D. Rockefeller said, “competition is a sin”. Its real bad in the U.S., they tax the sh*t out of small business and give all the big guys all the tax breaks. For example, this whole healthcare fiasco: They will soon be requiring your small, struggling business to pay for healthcare of employees while some of the largest corporations are EXEMPT, like Mcdonalds! Total tyranny! sorry to rant but I will be boycotting mastercard. I hate credit cards in general. They are tools used to put a person in debt. Debt does not exist in the physical world but it sure does feel like there is a ball n chain attached to you when you are buried in it. To think about it all logically you realize how utterly insane it really is.
debt is just another form of slavery

I vaguely remember trying to order some snus tobacco cuts a couple years ago from a online company I believe was in England but was not allowed to make the transaction. Something about it being illegal to order oral tobacco products to the USA from England.
Banks are reaching the point where they genuinely believe that our money is actually their money. They are figuring out more and more ways to make this so. Bet some people will pay the tobacco buying tariff mentioned above. Having read some of the threads here from America I get the impression that the once bastion of personal choice and liberty is turning into some kind of correction camp. If Mastercard really are doing this ditch them quick and go to another one. It’s your only legal sanction.
