Makeshift tap-boxes

As I have found a lot of non-snuff related items that make decent (or even great) tap-boxes, I want to see what you have re-purposed to use as tap-boxes for pocket-carry. I have already posted pictures of my 1oz flasks that I bought at walmart for $4, and we have seen the pill fobs, but I know there has to be more out there. So if you don’t mind, post some pics and a description of the item (and preferably location and price).

it was a candybox but now it swrves me as a tiny snuffbox. it hols approx. 1,5g dry snuff and 3g paraffin based snuff. it is not completely airtight but no leakage at all. inside 6 photo special now.

Good stuff! Looks like a Listerine Breath-Strips box. That’s pretty much a perfect example of what I want to see here.

exactly it is.

What about empty Tic Tac boxes? I’ve never used them for snuff, but they look like they would do the trick.

@Matou I have an empty tic tac box that I thought about using, but the chute thingie that inserts into the box is tapered, so instead of the chute sitting flush with the sides of the box, it results in a big space on two sides of the box and the chute. I would venture to guess that alot of snuff will get stuck in the crevasses, but its a nice box! I like the breath strip box idea too. I have a gum container that might make a great makeshift box…hmmm. I’ll have to examine it more.

I had several small mint boxes that worked well . Small perfume bottles work well if they been empty for a decade or so. In the beginning this is what I used. Then I decided this was going to be a life long hobby so I got some proper snuff boxes at great expense, When the snuffhouse.org box was created with some of my input; I been using those for daily travel and my fancys for dress occasions. Any box that won’t make a mess will work as a snuff box in the front Ice breakers center ice,left- elclipse mints tin with added tape over hinge,right- Blistex slide tin for pinching and in the rear an old perfume glass bottle

I have a couple Snuffhouse.org snuffboxes, along with a couple Mr. Snuff boxes, and use them frequently. I’m just always on the lookout for something else.

@Matou I did that once, but the box broke in my pocket and made a big mess.

Picked these up from the ice cream man, when my boys were grabbing some snacks. Noticed a box of them on the shelf, of course the first thought was… I quickly examined the cap and bought two for 2.50$ . The candy went in the trash “not the best tastin’ candy”. Fits in the pocket like a lighter, holds 7-10g? Taps easy. If you’re talented, you can use the cap to flick it up your nostril aka “snuff pocket”. I pour boxcars with these when on the go.

Has anybody tried pocket ashtrays? I never had such a thing but if it is supposed to contain ashes and reside in ones pocket, I reckon they should close very tight. I’ll probably get some and try it out. Probably wouldn’t be a tap box then, of course.

@TobaccyLassy : Hmmm, what a pity, I thought they’d be well suited. But as in @TomStrasbourg 's comment, I guess they’d break too soon anyway, because the plastic is too hard. @otherwheres : it depends on the type. I once had a pocket ashtray that closed very well (it was a cylinder, about the size of a lighter). But the ones with hinged lids are leaky I think.

Don’t think they’d work great for snuff. They’re not as air tight as you would hope. They keep ash out of your pockets mostily but that doesn’t mean air isn’t getting in. The hinges are also all wrong for a snuffbox

This one is awesome. I took two 16oz h2o bottles, razored the bottle off flush below hard ring under threads, sanded and super glued, also glued one cap. I can make multiples and fill my pockets comfortably. Also air tight, no snafu leakage yay =))

Those little pop cans are the cutest things! I love the bottle cap one too. Great idea!

Perfect for some Toque Coke?? B-)

And another one. from juice bottles. holds 15g+ air tight.

Curious what a wide mouth bottle would give me. .

I was also thinking of using a relatively flat piece of plastic for the base, to make a slimmer version. Now to find the right bottle. A wide mouth bottle and comparable plastic, or that perfect bottle that’s probably floating it’s way over the Pacific, as I’m typing…Brilliant! @apkonkanal. In a week I may be posting a mayonnaise lid, slim version. Brilliant! Back to the lab I go :-B What a fun way to reuse, and the leftovers still get recycled.

Forgive me for being lame-brained, but it took me a few minutes to figure out how you made those…you glue the hard rings together, yes? I was like “how does he get the screw tops on top and bottom?” LOL.
