Warning: Try to never drop a full 10 grams of Toque in the gutter while getting out of your vehicle. I watched the poor little tin roll down the gutter , right into the storm drain. I about cried.
Our storm drains are marked with the phrase “No dumping: Drains to river” or “Nothing but rain down the storm drain” I have seen racoons in them, though.
well the raccoons should be set for summer with the fresh Toque Peach. At least it wasn’t my Toque Quit that went in. I probably would have gone after that one.
My heart bleeds for you, Snuffrider. Almost makes me cry, like the time a friend of mine dropped a whole bottle of Chivas Regal on the sidewalk after only two sips. Damn nearly started licking it off of the tarmac. But let this be a cautionary tale for all of us. From now on, I’m keeping all my snuffs either behind a lock and a key, or on a tool case on my belt. for one. Also, I guess the military cellphone rules apply: Never while on the move.
Maybe this tin will make it Cape Cod.
Yea, apparently there’s a shortage back there. I have so much here, i just throw it into the gutter. I still cant believe I did that.
Here’s a consolation for you. Years ago I bought an antique pocket watch in Prescott, Az. After a liquid lunch at the Palace Bar, I pulled it out of my pocket, sans watch chain, stepped off the curb, dropped the watch and saw the pieces go merrily bouncing down the storm drain. I use a chain now, always. Perhaps you could rig a similar failsafe? lol
Actually, that gave me a good idea! For Roderick, as a Promo Item, How about a 10g Tin attached to one of those retracting lanyard clips thingys for keys. clips on your belt and you pull it out and snuff. it retracts. I need one of these
Hee hee hee, I’m just picturing local raccoons stumgbling out of the storm drains spluttering these huge Mel Blanc cartoon sneezes…
@Snuffrider: Actually, that wouldn’t be such a big project at all! Some thin spring steel, a little latch, and a jojo (as those things are called here, not surprisingly). Nice one! @James S: Oh yeah, that’d be a sight to see
You have my condolences Snuffrider. I just the other day put 10g of SG honey into a little pot as I like to pinch rather than off the back of my hand, got through about 5g whilst watching a film (with the help of my other half) then, for some stupid reason we started having an argument and I placed the pot into my pocket… The lid just pops off easily… I had a brown coloured pocket within seconds… Damn lovely snuff that was as well! Bless the other half though, she sat there scrapping it out the next day and saved about a gram or two.
MMMMMmmmmm pocket snuff.
…with fresh lint…
I have a gletscher-prise tap box come open in my pocket that was gross
On the subject of “unloseable” snuff tins, why not build one into a wristwatch or bracelet? Flip up the watch face (or large cabochon, if a bracelet), and there’s a snuffbox underneath.
There are those “poison rings” too, like from Alchemy Gothic and the like? Might be worth looking into. Might be fun.
I personally hate watches and bracelets and what-nots on my wrists. that wouldn’t work for me. for some one it might. what are poison rings?
While I like the idea of the “poison rings”, it seems like they would be way too small to take a pinch from, don’t you think? But keep on thinking in that track. I’m sure there are some other ways to incorporate a snuffbox into everyday accessories.
Poison rings are those things from victorian novels, which incorporate a small hinged compartment in a ring. You know, to pour poison into your opponent’s/lovers’/enemy’s morning cuppa o’joe while they are distracted by your nefarious plan. Also, a staple in spy movies. @PipenSnusnSnuff: Untrue. Atleast the Alchemy Gothic line features poison rings in the shape of coffins, which would be perfect to pinch from imho. But then again, if you aren’t really into the whole gothic scene, then you’re out of luck on that department.
My mom actualy has a few of these rings and they seem like they would hold half as much a mini toque bullet. So just wear at least two and that would work.
