I’m new to Snuff House. A friend of mine came back from overseas with a tin of Swedish snuff and shared it with me much to my enjoyment/refreshment. I’m looking for a snuff seller (online/private/retail or otherwise) willing to send snuff to South Australia (hopefully avoiding customs issues). I’d like to get a mild to moderate nicotine snuff (perhaps McChrystals or something similar). Probably just a small order for starters, can someone point me in the right direction?

I won’t be the best person to help you with finding snuff in Australia. However, I remember reading the delivery page on Toque Snuff and it mentioned sending to Australia. Not very often that I encounter a fellow Australian here on this platform. If you wish to hear a bit more regarding ordering Snuff and your chances of getting it through Customs without taxes being added please PM me so I can give you my experience. I will say, that getting Custom charges or not may be affected by what state you live in, even though the laws that govern such imports are federal. I just end up paying the Taxes when charged, and these taxes are of unimaginable excess of the products price, but how else can one get the product. So, it ends up being a few thousand dollars to get a few tins of snuff, but if you want it, you’ll pay, plus snuff tends to last a while longer than tobacco one smokes. Then there are those few occasions they come through without tax changes (something that is getting more rare with Customs being armed with better technology as times goes by) well count those as a blessing.

The stupidity of the Australian government regarding something like nasal snuff, whilst turning a blind eye to many street drugs and alcohol never ceases to astonish me. I do occasionally wonder if something could be organised to get vast quantities of snuff in illegally, but don’t know how easy or hard that is to do. So, if you are getting into snuff in Australia, make certain you have lots of money!

Are there any restrictions or duties to be paid on personal imports? As in carrying snuff into the country when visiting or for residents returning from a holiday?

I know border security in Australia is pretty thorough, but that sort of money in duty could take you overseas to return with a reasonable (not piss taking) amount.

Yes, it can build up after a while. I recently had to pay $145 tax on 45g of Snuff. That’s what the stupid government in Australia demands, probably to help found more immigrants into the country. Remember, this is on top of what I have already pay for the items, plus the shipping. I return to this simple fact, how else do I get snuff? It is illegal to grow tobacco in Australia for personal use, buying tobacco to make it oneself means it cost just as much with results that fall far short of professionally made snuff. So unless one can smuggle it in illegally, or have the laws changed (Australian governments are stupid and very unlikely to undo the laws they have in place regarding snuff) there is little one can do.

Smuggling, I would seriously consider that, if I believed the chances of getting away with it were good.
