Hi Folks, been awhile since I was on here last and I apologize for that. We recently moved to a new farm west of Lansing, Michigan and have been swamped since then! Onto business, I made some snuff from a mix of 40% white stemmed burley, 40% virginia and 20% Xhanti Yaka Turkish. I have been making small batches (10 gram batches) of each flavor I want to try, I allow them to heat up to 145*F for 5 minutes after applying the flavor oil. Let it meld for a few days and begin to snuff it via the “wipe in the nostril” method. Pictures below: My over all opinion, the best snuff I’ve ever made or snuffed. Smooth, somewhat moist but not damp by anymeans, no throat hit, full flavor of butter scotch mixed with the tobacco taste (flavor is actually quite comparable to Garret snuff)
@Michibacy That looks absolutely wonderful. I especially like your tobacco bill, but I’m a bit jealous. I can’t find Xanthi, or any Basma/Greek leaf, to save my life. The mill looks perfect; nice, fine, fluffy but with some “tooth” for texture. Nicely done. Keep going! Cheers, Daniel PS Congratulations on your new farm.
Thanks for the congratulations! I’m very fortunate to A) Have a green thumb B) be able to grow my own tobacco at home. I’ve made quite a few blends, some of which are closer to a perfume than snuff, and some I snuffed once, about died from the scent, sealed it and let it sit for a year, smelled it again and threw it in the toilet. and on the other hand, with this batch, I am more than willing to make this years’ crop into. It’s a good all day, every day snuff that last for about 40 minutes. The mill I’ve been using is just an electric coffee grinder. I stuff the chamber full of dry crunchy leaves, turn it on “12 cup” setting and “fine” settings. Blitz it 3 times, take it out, sift it with a 80 mesh screen and the rest is history. My camera doesn’t do it justice, as it is actually quite a bit finer in person, but not fine and dry enough to light your throat on fire.
Welcome back .USA need more snuff blenders ,Keep up with it until Michibacy Brand is on all the store shelves. Best of luck <:-P
If I ever get around to getting the necessary permits to sell, it will be sold under the Atfield & Co. brand which is the trade name of the mother company Da Vinci Plant Services. I find a huge love for Snuff, even more than for smoking versions of tobacco. Being able to get the true aroma of the tobacco the entire experience in amazing. I’ve always disliked that when you smoke tobacco, it hardly ever tastes the way it smells
That looks promising. I love butterscotch and almost anything with the words butter or scotch involved.
