Long term use nasal membrane damage

Hello can i ask if any long term snuff users here (I’m fairly new) have suffered any bad nasal membrane damage through use and can I ask what would probably be classed as safe responaible use without damaging one’s nose?

I just heard that the constant use of it can dry the membrane out (especially the finer drier stuff) and eventually f**k it up. I heard that constant use of Vicks Inhaler does the same!

I’ve been a frequent user of American Scotches for over 30 years. I’ve yet to suffer so much as a nosebleed.

The only way I could see snuff doing any damage would be if you used tonnes upon tonnes of strong menthol snuffs like Hedges L260 as a daily. Though even then i’m no doctor you’ll probably be fine

My Grandad had more Hedges up his hooter in a day than I use in a week, he constantly had a pinch between finger and thumb warming ready. The stuff was everywhere, even his car had a brown snuff tinge on every flat surface and as far as I can remember never had any issues so its fine by me, I will just keep on snuffing!

I tend to get a dry nose occasionally as well as feeling of dryness. I now always use a saline wash at least once or twice daily. That helps tremendously with the nasal membrane.

Drink more fluids. Simple as that. Your nose uses more fluids in keeping itself clean (producing lost mucous), plus nicotine is a diuretic. The more snuff you use, the more fluids you need to drink. It’s not snuff that fucks your nose up, it’s dehydration. Give the body what it needs to function properly.

I agree with the views on keeping yourself hydrated. I’ve seen the difference on both ends of this spectrum.
