Life after my Toque

D

OK so am I getting low on the 10 samples I ordered from Toque (My first snuffs,I ordered, Vanilla, Whiskey&Honey, Spanish Gem, Absinthe, Natural, Black Cherry, SP Extra, Kentucky Bourbon, Crazy George) I have also tried GW Kendall Brown, Dry Orange, English Rose, Cinnamon, Mull of Oa and Cafe Noir From those I have deduced I dont rearly like the Menthol, or strong floral or “soapy” flavoured snuffs, I will be re ordering Spanish Gem (favourite) Whiskey and Honey, Natural and Vanilla to keep in stock. Kendall Brown and Mull Oa I will also re order, but I don’t take them as a daily “go to snuff” I find them a little moist The GH snuffs did not have much flavour as well as being mentholated So I guess I am asking what’s a few good snuffs to move onto as well as the toques, I like the Toque flavours and the grind is easy to take, the SP extra is as strong as I would like to go on the Bergamot/Citrus flavour though. From toque I was thinking Almond toast, Ginger, Original and the Toffee … Are all toques the same tobacco and grind? they work for me and they have good flavours though I enjoy the “naturals” as well So what about non toque snuffs? my list to try includes: Auld Alliance, Creme de Figue, WoS Grand Ciaro, Elmos reserve, Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert, Lundy foot, Tom Buck, Viking Bark and Viking Blonde, Bernard Postillion, Prins Regent Havana Toast … Not all one the next order I might add! Any advice most welcome

I’d recommend the Natural Toast as well as the Quit, Both Naturals

You’ve gotta remember that there are something like 71 Toque flavours, so it makes sense that the variation between some of them isn’t that great. A lot of the fruits and florals have the same flour, just a different scent. You’d have to be a Toque fanatic, or very, very curious, to want to try them all. Personally, I think some of the brands that have a smaller number of products have a greater range between those products, particularly in terms of the base tobacco. Of the British snuffs, I’m thinking about F&T, Abraxas, and SWS. Of the Toque range, I’ve settled on Quit, Spanish Gem and Violet as ones that I’d reorder, without much remaining curiosity for the others – except SP Extra, which I haven’t tried yet but which is still on my shopping list.

Try to sample a broad range: SG Dark and Coarse such as Viking Dark, Black Coffee, Toffee, or KB’s as well as their lighter/finer snuffs WoS has an enormous range of snuffs of which many are non-mentholated - also try their Best Dark (wonderful snuff) & Brunswick F&T Santa Domingo, and Old Paris … Princes/Princes Special too maybe GH Cherry maybe … you are using tubs rather than tap boxes aren’t you …? Toques Coarser snuffs (Berwick Brown and Coltsfoot) may be worth a try (Berwick Brown is a favourite of mine … after a little airing) Some of the florals can be overwhelming at first, but do “calm down” a bit after a while, so don’t throw them out. Try airing some, and also try just leaving in a drawer (tin closed) after you’ve tried the first few pinches to try a month later … maybe when the weather is different too. I would also (ironically) highly recommend ignoring what other people like, as you’re taking snuff with your nose not theirs, so the snuff experience will often be very different

I

Yeah everyone nose is different. I knew a girl in elementary school that liked a scent that smelled like skunks.

I

I like skunk-like smells as well B-) However, don’t let that fact influence my suggestion of a new favorite; Bernanrds Civette Extra Fein it is a natural aroma like a plain toast snuff except that it is light fluffy and easy to take.
