One of the country’s biggest tobacco wholesaler/distributor called Conwood for me. Direct from Conwood: We no longer make Levi Garrett We do not have any left in stock. If you do find it somewhere, it is old stock. Tom

M

I’m pretty sure this whole discussion came up because Tom’s been trying to get it (Levi) as long as he’s been in biz. I got mine from Lil brown, I wouldn’t order for a non supporter shop unless it was the only option. I could be wrong… : )

P

Anyone who cares to check the following website will see something different: www.cwdlp.com/ourCompany.htm Check “Products” and then “Snuff” Also check “Home” and look at the products

J

Man you are out of the loop for a few days and come back to this. All I can say is “WHAT THE F#*% THE WORLD IS ENDING.” Pack your bags and kiss your ass good by. I have never been a big fan but it is an institution. THE END IS CLOSE.

P

Jarhog, I don’t know whether your message is meant for me or, what it actually means but whatever!! What I’m trying to show is that although Conwood told Tom Levi Garrett is not made any more, there still is a website which adverises the product. What kind of company is this who advertises a product they don’t make any more??? I believe what Tom is saying, I repeat, I BELIEVE WHAT TOM IS SAYING. He is in business and has gone to a lot of trouble to find Levi Garrett for us. I appreciate what he’s done and will still buy all my American snuffs from him because I like the way he operates. Amen. Pieter

B

Thanks for your support Pieter. I have asked why the Levi is still showing on their web site. Those I’ve asked just ‘pass the buck’ saying it’s someone else’s responsibility.

T

Just print up a bunch of the Levi labels and affix them to WE cans. Everyone would be happy.

B

LOL!

M

I like the Levi bottle and i’m glad i got one before they’re discontinued. i won’t throw this one away when it’s empty.

C

I’ll end up treating my Levi like my Gawith Cola. Once in a while snuff, not because I don’t love it, but because I can’t buy it. Another sad day in the world of snuff.

M

As I said before, had I known i would have bought two and kept one unopened.

P

I phoned Lil Brown just now. The guy I spoke to told me that they get a fresh shipment every 3 weeks from their regular supplier, who ever that may be. According to him they are not allowed to ship outside the USA because it is illegal. Something about tax which can’t be collected by them. Something fishy going on here. But I’m happy because I’ve got friends who are willing to help me!!! Cheers

B

This is REALLY starting to piss me off! I have a call in to the head of Snuff sales at Conwood. We’ll see…

Z

Call the janitor instead. He’d be the guy to know where there was some stashed in an out-of-the-way room and forgotten about.

X

Zonesix is right. LOL As far as the website goes, they don’t show W.E. Scotch at all, just Sweet. Then they have all the UPC numbers for W.E.Scotch sizes listed with the Levi bottle. So thats consistant with them saying its the same. The also brag about having the oldest registered trademark (Levi Garrett bottle) in the US on their intro page, which is baffling why they’d let it go.

B

Well, I think I have finally it figured out. I just spent 1/2 hr on the phone with the head of sales for Conwood. He has been in this capacity for over 25 years. I have been given the CORRECT product id for Levi and have ordered several cases. They should be available in about 10-14 days. Mr Pruitt has also informed me that, SINCE THE EARLY 1800’s, ALL GARRETT SNUFF IS THE SAME PRODUCT. The 4.65 oz bottles were simply named Levi Garrett, while ALL other sizes were name WE Garrett. ALL Garrett products, in Conwoods inventory, are listed as Garrett Snuff. Herein lies the problem. The current low level sales staff (those that answer the phone taking orders) did not realize that there were 2 different names for Garrett snuff. Now that I have the CORRECT product id, it should no longer be a problem getting the product. Let’s hope so anyway.

M

Ahh sweet justice… and I bet you are looking forward to moving a case or more overnight ehh Tom?

Well with this news from Tom, I’ll put my offer on hold for the time being. If its good news, then there is no need for me to do this. I’d still be happy to act as proxy if anyone is determined to have something from Lil Brown. So those of you who asked for a bottle, let me know if you still want it. I guess we should not jump into panic mode until we determine if something is a false alarm or not. IMHO the vintage bottles on ebay are still the best bargains/flavor.

T

Well I’ll probably order a bottle when they come in!

C

Glad you are finally getting it, Tom. We can now spread the LEVI love to those across the pond.

P

Since the early 1800’s Conwood only makes WE Garrett. That’s according to mr Pruitt. But he’s only been with the company for 25 years, so can we believe him? I mean, how should HE know!!! LOL LOL Tom, I salute you. That’s the way to do it, kick their behinds until their ears and eyes are open. And whether Levi and WE are the same or not, I want that snuff in the famous bottle. Tom, you’re the greatest!!! Cheers Pieter

Z

Hell, I’ll order one because of the bottle and also because it’s the oldest still produced trademark in the US. That’s kind of cool.

T

I was under the impression from what I read, that it is the W.E. Garrett that is the oldest valid trademark.

Z

Either way. It’s not like I need an EXCUSE to buy more snuff

T

I’m more addicted to buying and collecting it than I am to the actual snuff.

P

tom502, now you are talking, my friend!!!

Z

I should post a photo of my collection sometime. I’m buying WAY faster than I can consume. But it’s nice to have options.

S

Great work Tom!! Now that this is settled, would you mind seeing if you can find out what happened to Amelia Earhart? The good news is that it probably won’t take you near as long.

C

@zonesix: Here is the collection thread:A Collection Builds Fast, Huh?

P

At last!!! I’ve just now ordered the very first bottle of Levi Garrett which was unpacked by Tom. Thank you Tom, thank you. Much appreciated. Regards Pieter
