Another Polish-American snuff (like Goike’s). Anbody know anything? Filek? Too bad its in such rough shape; and the photo is not very good either. Can someone steal it and repost it here for posterity? http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-KOSYNIER-SNUFF-CYLINDER-CONTAINER-W-TIN-LID-/350346814544?pt=LH\\_DefaultDomain\\_0&hash=item51924c2450

Bardzo dobry! I wish I could step back in time and snap up a can of this stuff new on the shelf. And say hi to my future babcia, who used to dance with her friends at the Aragon Ballroom back when Lawrence Welk was the bandleader…

This website says the maker of Kosynier was Herman Groya. Who knows whether that’s just snazzy branding for the company, a guy named Herman Groya who ground snuff, or both. Either way, this is the only snuff of theirs that made the list. http://www.top25snuff.com/en/snuff-list.html A Google Maps search of the address on the tin returns this house in Chicago. Sorry for the huge URL. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=2435+Greenview+Avenue,+Chicago,+Illinois&layer=c&sll=41.926247,-87.665658&cbp=13,94.9,,0,0&cbll=41.926255,-87.66576&hl=en&gl=us&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2435+N+Greenview+Ave,+Chicago,+Cook,+Illinois+60614&ll=41.928456,-87.665663&spn=0,0.010568&z=17&iwloc=A&panoid=gIvaxvj0M5ZrKq5b4w9HgA This realty site claims the house above was built in 1932. http://www.redfin.com/IL/Chicago/2435-N-Greenview-Ave-60614/home/13361234 I also found a Social Security record of a guy named Herman Groya born around Chicago in 1913. This was all for entertainment purposes, don’t hold me to any glaring errors. It was a really effective device to avoid studying anyway.
