Hi, I agree that kids / young people should not use tobacco of any kind, but I don’t agree with the marriage part. I think once a person is 18 years old there old enough to make up there on mind as to weather to use tobacco products.I am 57 so my age has nothing to do with my opinion on the 18 year age thing. I realize there are cultural differences but the way I see it once legally grown at 18 years of age you should be wise enough to know what you want to to or not do.

Agreed on the marriage thing. I’m in my early-mid 40s and unmarried. Cultural differences aside, I don’t see that as any bearing on ability to make rational choices. I know many people who say I am wiser for staying single 
I understand this may be more of a simplification of age verification for your kids walking around with your tins.
@yisraeldov   We complain about living in a  Nanny State,  and that we are wrapped up in a Cotton Wool World, but I do agree that younger people should not be encouraged to smoke, or partake in any other form of tobacco.
As to the age when it should be legal, that is a complete discussion on its own. Â In the UK, the usual old chestnuts come out when age limits are mentioned.
You can marry at sixteen, join the army, leave home etc. but you cannot buy your own alcohol until you are eighteen. etc. Â etc.
I think most youngsters starting on tobacco are only doing it for bravado and trying to look big in front of their mates.
We have all been there at some time in our lives, tobacco, alcohol or dodgy substances.
Keep juveniles and tobacco as far apart from each other as possible.
An afterthought.
I don’t even know if there is a legal age for purchasing or using snuff in the UK.
We have odd laws with alcohol like  juveniles  cannot purchase it for themselves, and adults can be fined for buying it for them,  but the parents can decide to allow them alcohol in the comfort of their own home.
TL;DR;
IMO While someone is still reliant on their parents for lively hood, the parents should get the last say about the use of dangerous substances.Â
@TigerJackshere and @50ft_trad I think you misunderstand the married condition. In our community the vast majority of males are married between 18 and 25, also after getting married we wear different clothes. My condition in not giving Snuff to single guys is an easy way for me ( and my kids ) to recognize that the person is at least 18.  Going around asking people for  ID because they want a pinch isn’t realistic.Â
Also everyone matures differently so IMO the hard rule of once your 18 then you can make mature decisions is not accurate. Marriage in our culture is vastly different than what it is in, for lack of a better word, western culture. Here everyone gets married, and until you get married your parents take care of you. So marriage is a good demarcation line of when someone is entering into adulthood. Now you are much more responsible for making your own, mature life decisions.  That being said, the requirement is not to be “married” but rather to cross that milestone. So someone in out community that was (g-d forbid ) widowed or divorced, would have passed that milestone and I would have no issue with them having a pinch.
Also when I go out into other cultures, say for work. I will defiantly offer someone a pinch without regard to if they are married. It is more about if they have proved that they are able of making independent mature decisions. In our community marriage is an almost perfect litmus test for this, in most other cultures I’m sure it is not.Â
Also I’m not sure what the basis is for 18 for tobacco, and 21 for alcohol and 16 for driving in the US ( in Israel it is all 18 ) . So at 16 I can drive around with a 2 ton chuck of metal and put the lives of others at risk, at 18 I can endanger others with 2nd hand smoke, and only at 21 I can drink ?  The average brain keeps maturing until25, so IMO these numbers are just arbitrary.Â
i agree the numbers are arbitrary and are mostly cultural or regional. some of the states in the U.S have even raised it to 21 for tobacco!
I think legal age in UK for all tobacco products is 18. It’s a contentious issue this one…I posted here earlier on the large amounts of very young kids on youtube taking dip and I must admit I was pretty uncomfortable watching it though.
@yisraeldov, I haven’t been active here much these days, but I’ve been watching your reviews and such.  Glad you’re a part of this forum!  Your contributions are appreciated, and your reviews spot on!  Props for not being more aggressive with the punks that stole the snuffbox from your kids!  I started using tobacco, weed, and alcohol at 13 or 14 - I can’t remember 
 But I totally agree that the longer a human waits to indulge in these things the better.  I’m fairly of mental capacity… but I bet I’d be a tad bit brighter if I waited until I was older.  But who knows!  I too have been using the Aztec frequently lately.  :)>-

To be clear, the kids ( I call them kids cause they aren’t married but they are 18+ ) that “stole” the snuff box, just took a pinch and then returned it. So I don’t want it to be taken out of proportion. Almost all of our kids are good kids and this was a lapse of judgement and they might not have even thought of it as theft, that is why I debated talking to their fathers or not.Â

@50ft_trad, didn’t think that you were judging, but you did let me know that I could have been more clear. Sometimes things that are obvious to me I don’t realize that they wouldn’t be to the majority of the population.
Yea I misunderstood too I thought the older boys had run off with the whole tins without paying. A cheeky sniff can be forgiven. @SeanOCDOx what is Aztec?
