As far as I know snuff is still being made by Samuel Gawith, Gawith Hoggarth, Wilson’s of Sharrow Mills in Kendal. Their products are for sale on Mr Snuff’s website. The book is very interesting. There’s an older one, Wilson’s of Sharrow and one entitled Mills of Sharrow.

I don’t know whether it’s still available, but Kendal Brown: The History and Kendal’s Tobacco and Snuff Industry by J.W Dunderdale, updated by Anne Bonney, is the most comprehensive and detailed study and forms much of the material (largely verbatim) for the link you provided. It covers the sometimes confusing relations between Samuel Gawith, Gawith Hoggath & Co, Illingworth’s, Dr. Rumney and the various mills and engines employed by the firms as well as their products in great detail. Now that snuff (to the best of my knowledge) is no longer manufactured in Kendal and I no longer smoke a pipe the book as well as this link makes, for me at least, sad reading and I still find it difficult to accept that such a well-known brand as Kendal Brown is no longer made in Kendal. As you doubtless know, Samuel Gawith also made genuine rappee, quite unlike the even-textured ‘rappee’ still available. London Brown was also the closest in flavour to genuine Morlaix, sold in waxed paper parcels in France and I regret that neither is available any more.
