I think I’ve got my technique down decent enough, but I am running into a new problem-- how do I keep the snuff where it should be after the initial placement? I am taking bigger pinches, andI can place the snuff exactly where I want it, but when I breath in when all is in place, bleh, throat hit. Seems the bottom layer sticks, but the stuff on top just shoots back. I’ve tried pressing my nostril down (does work, but I have to hold it down for 20 seconds er so), using moister snuffs, all the same problem. My nose isn’t particularly dry, any thoughts?
Hmmm, I just give my nose a little squeeze and that’s normally all it takes. Just a quick pinch before I wipe any excess off the nose
Not all noses were created equal, so sometimes it can take a while to determine what’s best for yours in terms of scent, technique, grind and moisture. I can’t do the fine dry snuffs. Been snuffing a couple of years now, and bottom line is they just don’t work in my snout. Unless I cheat and start layering that is. I can’t use many Toque snuffs on an empty nose, but a good pinch of a course tobacco first and waiting till that turns “muddy” usually overcomes the problem. If the bottom layer (first pinch) is sticking, but subsequent pinches aren’t, even with pinching the nose, I’d suggest you’re pinching too soon. Just because your nose might not be dry, doesn’t mean the first pinch hasn’t turned into “tea” yet. It may still by dryish on the surface. Also, try having a hot drink at the same time. A bit of steam going up your nose might help, and extra hydration can’t hurt at all.
