I was in the mood to try something exotic so I just bought the Super Himalaya Golden from Nicotine Rush. I was curious what to expect has anyone tried this one.? I’ll review it when it arrives.
I opened my can the other day. In the tin it smells rather pungent, very high ammonia smell. It must be fresh. The can itself is very nice. The plastic is very durable and clean, certainly an upgrade from the other tin I have of their Himalaya, which was very recycled looking.
If you are in the mood for exotic, this will definitely satisfy that desire. It is very good and smells of incense.
5 Photo Himalaya Super is a fantastic perfumed snuff by any standard, in my opinion. Great nicotine hit also. The “Special” is at least as good, maybe a little better, depending on how you feel about a little menthol. It’s darker, moister and a slight bit coarser, but its not for sale yet. I’ve got some samples of it that I’m hoarding until it becomes available.
@LHB: Do you speak of “Super Himalayan” or the “Super Himalayan Golden”?
@cstokes : One and the same. 5 Photo Himalaya and ‘Special’ are now in stock. Tom
Bak Door Just for curiousity why in such big Tins. 50gms is a lot of snuff
I doubt that Tom has much control over what size he gets. That may be the only size it’s available in.
Only size they wanted to sell me.
They pack a lot of snuff in there, the snuff is almost hard in the can.
What exactly is the difference between the Himalaya and the Super Himalaya Golden, aside from the fact that one is described as black and the other as golden colored? Are these two distinctly different snuffs or are they similar in flavor? (I’ll find out soon enough, but would still like to know!)
@# bakdoor You are killing me, the regular Himalayan was the one I actually wanted to try. I heard it was the most popular snuff in India. Just my luck you put it in days after I buy the Super Himalaya Golden. LOL
I probably shouldn’t have, as I have really become a lightweight in my snuff use, but I went on and bought these, as I am a sucker for Indian snuffs, and I just wanted them.
I love the Super Himalaya Golden! Finely ground, moist, a good nic hit. Seems like a touch of menthol in there, but it quickly gives way to the exotic smell of mysterious Indian incenses. As with the Raja #5, I had to empty much of the container into a used snus can; the snuff is absolutely packed into the container. Now with about a third of it empty, I should be able to pinch directly from the container, which i can’t do w/ the Raja, as that container is too small (though if you use a snuff spoon you could probably use that). Wonderful stuff.
Er, so what is the difference between the Himalaya and the Super Himalaya Gold? … anyone??
One has Gold in it.
… which I suppose renders it ‘super’. Indeed. I was asking only because I ordered both the Himalaya and the Super Himalaya Gold, then wondered if I had just ordered two very similar snuffs. I’ll find out in a few days how different or similar they are!
I think the Gold is a reference to it’s color. Himalaya is a darker snuff, with a patchouli scent. The gold seems to have more scents in it.
Thanks. That is what I was wondering.
I was going to start a thread dedicated to trying to figure out the mysteries of 5 Photo nomenclature, but I see it’s already going. I know I have the Super (which is the golden) and I think I have the Special in smash boxes (which is darker). But then there’s the Raj in the small container, and then what appears to be “Regular” which is the one advertised as “the most popular snuff in India” and which I don’t think I’ve ever tried. Might as well just get 3 of each of them and sort it out later. The two I have are so fantastic that when revisiting F&T Morlaix a little while ago, it seemed very old fashioned and kind of boring. I also have to admit a weakness for Indian snuffs. Edit: Here’s the link to their website. I definitely have the Himalaya and the Super (Golden). http://www.snuffindia.com/
