Any of you used one of these? It was too cheap not to try. I got the whole starter kit 40 with shipping. Device plus two rechargeable batts and 5 or 6 refills I cant remember.

I’ve pondered the e-cig, curiously, but never got one, never tried one, but know what it is from reading and watching online vids. I think it would be fun, but haven’t had the interest strong enough to get one. I’ve thought about one of those disposable e-cigs too. I did smoke some of those Eclipse cigs, which wasn’t bad, I liked being able to smoke in the house, as a no-smoking house.

I initially got off of smokes with an e-cig. A bit over a year ago. Fiddly little devices but I have had some fun with em’. I still use one, primarily only while driving anymore. I’ve yet to get comfortable taking a pinch at 65mph!

I started with a e-cig late last year and it did get me started getting off smokes. The snuff helps even more. I still use mine, mostly at work. They can be “fiddly” as OTD stated. They do work, at least for giving you the illusion of smoking, something to do with the hands and something to blow out that looks like smoke. Good luck with it. Hope it works for you.

My experience with the e-cig is very similar to asidrave and dgriego. I stopped smoking last year, using the e-cig. But I found it difficult to maintain a satisfying blood nicotine level with the e-cig alone. The ‘satisfaction’ seems to leave very quickly upon putting down the e-cig. It also seemed to dry me out. My skin became very dry when using the e-cig all the time. I now rarely touch my e-cig. Snuff and snus are just better, IMHO.

I figured for the price I should give it a try. Not to mention, if Im understanding this correctly, you can buy bottles of the liquid smoke and refill your e-cig yourself. I got the cig star brand by the way,

We actually have an E-Cig store here in town now. Drove by it last week. The sign outside advertised different types of liquid and such. Must be catching on.

Im looking forward to it now honestly. Im sick of not being able to breath, and coughing up all this crap first thing in the mornings. I know Im getting the nic from snuff, and its chills the cravings for the most part. So Im not sure if its just a oral fixation or what, but I just cant seem to give them up.

FWIW digital, dgriego puts it well with, “at least for giving you the illusion of smoking, something to do with the hands and something to blow out that looks like smoke”. While there are folks who have managed to get off the smokes completely with just an e-cig, I’m of a mind the combination of snus and snuff will take you much further along that road. But again, the e-cig is still part of my daily carry, it is a pleasant distraction.

I’m looking to get an e-cig for my fiancee, but I’ve read that some brands of juice contain dangerous additives like nitrosamines (!). Anyone here know anything about the relative safety of some juice brands versus others?

@slobandtom While I’ll of course not go so far as to say the liquid used is perfectly safe… it’s a helluva lot cleaner and safer than smoke with respect to carcinogens.An ExampleThere are a few other reports that can be found, the one I link to was the most immediate. They are all pretty similar in the end though. Inhaling water vapor with a touch of nicotine and flavoring. Nitrosamines… worry about those the next time you have a BLT (-;

I caught the e-cig bug after quitting smokes with snus. It did create a nice illusion of smoking. It became more of a hobby. Snus, snuff and twists are what keeps me from smoking. I rarely use any of my 4 ecigs now.

I used an e-cig for about a month, and went back to smoking. They were nice for the first 2 weeks, then I was using the e-cig along with smoking 2 or 3 real cigs for a week, then I was smoking more real cigs than I was using the e-cig, so I gave up on the e-cig. Snuff is what got me to actually quit smoking for good, been roughly 3.5 months since I had a cigarette. But I’m not counting the few clove little cigars I’ve smoked, as they were more for an enjoyable flavor then for the need of nicotine.

You hit the nail on the head Mr Snuff. Im hoping that the eCig fills that void, and I can get on without the real cigs.

Well, today I got my eCig… I hate this thing! Im going to try and get a refund. I think its defective. I tried two catridges now and they are both dead after a little smoking each. The device itself seems to flake out and flash constantly. I dont know I am hoping Mr Snuff can do something about this. Id hate to have to eat this thing. Considering Im pretty sure its just defective.

@digitalsedition Sounds like you got an automatic battery. The batteries with a button are preffered. The auto ones have a cutoff that doesn’t allow for a long draw with lots of vapor. I reccomend a Joye 510. It’s what I use and I am completely pleased with it. I use the drip method which is applying 3 drops directly on the atomizer. This creates better flavor and lasts for about 3 big draws. Good luck!

Im pretty sure its not supposed to leak though. It leaks the nicotine fluid “e-liquid” everywhere. I think its defective. Im not sure I am even going to get another one honestly.

Welcome to the world of the e-cig digital. As I’ve said in the past, they are fiddly things at best. rdunnion sounds as tho he’s hit it with respect to the auto bat. I agree, those tend to be problematic. As for the liquid everywhere, again fiddly! The density of the filling in the cartridge must be in balance with the viscosity of the liquid. This balance in turn must be optimized to work with the capillary characteristics of whatever model atomizer you may use. Pardon the wise ass digital, but I have been there (-; In short, the atomizer has a metal foam bridge that makes contact between the filler in the cartridge and the coil in the atomizer. The liquid moves by the combination of negative pressure and capillary action from the filler to the bridge. Capillary action alone moves the liquid through the bridge to the coil were it is heated to the vapor. If you have liquid leaking then one of these is out of synch. Coil not getting hot enough, filler too loose/liquid too thin… Fiddly. Any of the e-cigs, any model atomizer, can be made to work well if you’ve the patience to suss out the individual idiosyncrasies. And a modicum of luck! Few if any work well out of the box. Prior to attempting return you may find information of value at this e-cig circus (-;Circus in that there are all manner of folks there who will tell you what model is the best to answer your trouble. And you can bet it won’t be the one you currently have! Or you can use the search function to find the pearls that elaborate on what I’ve touched on, filler material, liquid viscosity etc. Luck!

I already emailed for a refund lol. Im going to see if anything youve said make any kind of difference in the meantime as Ive had no response as of yet. Im starting to think the only way for me to quit cigs is to be strong and snuff extra… Will report my findings.

Snus in combination with snuff is what finally did the trick for me…

I used to do Snus, but I noticed some issues with my gums, so I stoped. Im snuffing alot. I wanted to try the eCig thing but I am not to sure about that any more. I have heard great things about the Blu Cigs, eCig brand, they look cool and they have a hell of a deal. The e-cig interests me, but it even looks like it would have it’s mechanical issues to me, and I haven’t felt like taking the chance. If I saw a cheap disposable e-cig I might get one, but I’d have to see it in a shop, as the postage online makes it not so cheap overall.

I seriously apreciate the tips. I just ordered some off brand, “mar boro” 10 ml (26mg nic e-liquid from mr snuff and a refill pack. Im hoping im not wasting my money but we will see. Ty again, and Ill keep you posted on my adventures.

FWIW I gave up on the majority of flavored liquids. I generally vape 36mg unflavored. The primary exception is the Absinthe from TotallyWickeds Decadent range. Oh that is good.

The liquids are! The hardware they sell can usually be got elsewhere for considerably less.

Im pretty sure I have identified the problem with my unit. It’s the atomizer. The ecig works great at first, but the cart runs out super quick! All the e-liquid runs down between the the cart and the atomizer and just sits there. So I think when the atomizer heats up the liquid starts to run right down the outside of the atomizer until the cart is empty. Which kinda sux, so maybe I just need a new atomizer, I dont know. Its become a pretty big hassle at this point, and I just ordered $20 in liquid and carts.

If I find a cheap $20 disposable in a smoke shop, I’ll get one, but I’m reluctant to buy a full set. The very occasional times I do smoke, I’d rather just get a pack of clove cigars.

When it works, its really nice I thinks. Its sort or like smoking but without all the fear of cancer and guilt lol. If I were to do this all over, Id have probably tried to get one of those Blu e-Cigs, but it is what it is now. I just want it to work right.

When I used e-cigs I went with the “cartomizer” style carts that combines the atomizer with the liquid nicotine in one screw on dispoable cart. They were not messy at all! There are also tecniques to refill these as well but I never bothered. The only two flavors that did it for me were the Kamel Menthol and Clove. The propylene glycol used in the liquid nicotine (the stuff that simulates the smoke) dried the hell out of my skin though. I could of tried carts with vegetable glycol which is good for people allergic to propylene glycol but never got around to it.

That would be great if its no trouble to you. I tried putting a little tape around the atomizer to tighten the seal between the refill and the atomizer, but it still leaks, less that before though. So Im pretty sure thats all it is, the atomizer. The battery works fine, and the atomizer pretty much is the whole device. Thank you for being so helpful Dave.
