Just once I would like to be able order all the snuffs I wanted to get at a Snuff site! I have never once been able to get past one or more snuffs being out of stock. Every bleeping time I get an order ready something has to skipped. Nothing personal with this rant, just a Murphy’s law of snuff. I notice this phenomena mentioned all the time. I have never in all my orders been able to score some London Brown for example. Oh well.
That’s true. Mr Snuff ran out of most Sam Gawith tins before I could order, those obviously sold well.
not to appear stupid, but what is a london brown? I have only ordered online once, and all of them listed on "TOQUE’ was in stock and I got it shipped from the UK to Missouir USA for nothing. I would order from the other sponsors listed to the left of my rantings, but for the shipping charges my wife would staple my ever so tender family jewels to my forehead, which I always try to avoid. I realize it costs money to ship things, alot it would seem. But why is it that one man in a business can ship for free and the other ones want like $15 to ship me approx 500gm of snuf from wherever to Missouri USA? I mean DUH? So if you want to charge me more for your product, ok, but dont camouflage it as "SHIPPING AND HANDLING’ charges OK? Roderick had to pay 2. 88 whatever money unit that is in the UK for my shipping, I am looking at the container on my PC desk. So he ate that charge for my meager first order of 2 50 gm bags, a snuff bullet and a 25gm tin of the excellent Xmas Pudding snuff. If he can do it, why cant these other guys…Guess who be getting my orders. As I have mentioned various times here, I am one frugal, no make that CHEAP bastard. Maybe these other sponsor types can take my hint and cut us all some slack…PLEASE? I am more than willing to order a lot of product, but I can only afford so much. Ok, I will shut up now. Sorry for my rants…
I think a London Brown is turkey sandwich with gravy over it.
Because Roderick makes what he sells so he’s cut out the middle man. Think of it this way he still charges shipping it’s just in the price of the snuff because he can afford to do it that way. When you buy from another seller they had to buy it either from roder or from a distributor. So to put it simply if you wanted to make a profit off of selling snuff you’d have to charge more then the person you bought it from, for roder that cost is production cost then he needs profit then Mr nicotinesnuffstorerush covers that and needs more to make a profit. I hope that explains it Greybeard.
Retailers are often at the mercy of their suppliers. For instance, when I was younger I went to purchase a video game and to my dismay found the store was out. What I witnessed was the greatest ass reaming I have ever seen by pissed off customers who were screaming their heads off at the store staff. I asked the Manager what happened and he said the supplier simply didnt send the order out in time to their store. Long story short, Dave runs a buisness and his goal (probably) is to make money. He wants to see his store stocked so he can provide products to the consumer. Why direct your anger at him (or the other merchants) when he is at the mercy of WoS, Poschl etc etc?
Some people just want something for nothing…
I’d rather a store be out of snuff then sell me old product that is overly dried out.
The internet has not tone. I didn’t take whalens as yelling or doing more then saying oh fudge it would be nice to get all my snuffs at one time. Could be wrong but that is how I take it. Personaly I feel that a snuff being out when I want to order it is natures way of saying wait a little bit for the snuff. Just thought I’d add this so that my above statement doesn’t sound critical.
With the internet I can buy so many kinds of snuffs I feel spoiled. For years I had to do with a selection of less than a dozen.
yeah I used to only have dean swift I thought they were decent. Not anymore. Even with a much smaller number of snuffs under my belt I still feel really luck at the number of snuffs I’ve tried. There are so many great snuffs. Can’t wait to try a few news ones.
Exactly text has no tone. Hence why when an author writes dialogue to express emotion they use such devices as said tom, exasperated dave, exclaimed bill, etc. Ken
Damn Murphy for ever making that law. Dumbest law ever!
Yea I can feel Whalens pain. I’ve been waiting and waiting for the SG snuffs to get back in stock myself. Of course I wanted to simply place one order to save on shipping. I had not placed an order for quite some time so I just now went ahead and place my order, tho some items were still out of stock. What REALLY sucked is the unbelieveable large s & h fees. What the hell happened? I only ordered 13 ten gram tins. Now I REALLY wish all the snuffs that I wanted were in stock. Guess I won’t be buying snuffs to sample and putting them on the exchange if I don’t like em anymore. I’ll be sticking to what I know I like from now on. What a bummer. “ouch” exclaimed PP has the US dollar totally lost its value overseas?
Sure, I’ve experienced a few minor frustrations similar to what Whalen described, and once or twice I’ve gotten a little grumpy over them. In fairness, though, I have to say I have not encountered any retailers, online or brick & mortar, that regularly exhibit more dedication to keeping their customers happy than the snuff vendors with whom I have done business. So here’s to Dave, Roderick, Tom, and Tim & Julia (in no particular order). Keep up the good work!
I’ve had some experiences like Whalen when the items I was missing were back in stock a day or two after my order, adding salt to the wound.
I am forever grateful for Roderick with his stock, knowledge, and free shipping! I have a disproportionate amount of snuff from him as a result, with no regrets. Tom worked his butt off getting us our snuff and did a bang up job of expanding the line, his present situation just makes me sick, truly! Dave has come through for me more than once and I am forever gratefull, although still not at liberty to state how, Dave you are the best, and I am trying to support you the best I can. I am guilty of firing off a poorly constructed topic, sorry, just something on my mind. I read posts that constantly refer to partial orders due to stock. Let me be clear about this, I blame suppliers, not the retailers, and more specifically the peculiar old school nature of snuff marketing along with international commerce, customs, and mr> Murphy above all. It’s just that my timing sucks! And a lot of other people seem to time it wrong too! Nothing more than that. I have precious little money left for my Snuff TAD (Tobacco Acquisition Disorder), having a massive heart attack with piss poor health insurance will do that to you, and find that shipping is now eating up a disproportionate amount of each purchase I make. I longed for a chance to try a bunch of SG and GH snuffs, and they opened up a whole new world of snuff to me. There are a couple that I have not been able to get no matter what, so now I sell my fishing stuff on Ebay, to get money for snuff. Trust me, snuff is a hell of a lot cheaper hobby than flyfishing.
Hang in there Whalen. About 3 days after I get my order of SG there will be a few [maybe many] SGs on the exchange…and shipping won’t be nearly as expensive.
@john8363: Not only retailers are at the mercy of their suppliers. Producers also; I am waiting for over 4 month on an order of raw materials from Germany to come in. Jaap Bes
You are also at the mercy of your fellow snuffers who grab up the last tins of something and add it to their hoardes.
Grand Cairo= Stokes
Oh yeah! Well… how about this! Bart=Stokers or Bart=Doodoopeepeehead!
LOL!! Thought you may overlook this thread here…no hard feelings chum!
Lately I haven’t been able to get most things I want, not because they are not available, but due to bad finances ( I’m “between opportunities” at the moment). I have noticed, though, that when I finally get it — I’m a very happy camper. As they say “absence makes the heart grow fonder” – or, as my ex used to say “absinthe makes the clothes go yonder”. Good times!
My sincerest apologies to all the fine retailers who are represented here. I beg your forgiveness for my lack of knowledge on how things are done. I at one time had a gun shop in Northern Illinois near Chicago, so I do know a lil bit about business. Not much, but a little. I had to cut my prices to keep competive with my fellow gun dealers. My EX wife used to sell shotgun shells to customers at gun shows, (to their delight and my considerable RAGE ) for what it cost me to purchase, oh, I forgot to mention without figuring in my cost of gas to go get it. She never went to gun shows after that by the way. OH,she sold them by the CASE to customers…ok off subject here. isnt it ironic you have a sale on american snuffs that I would LOVE to buy, but they have to be shipped to the USA after being shipped there? I promise I will make an effort to do some business with all of you folks sometime soon. Again I am sorry if I have offended anyone. Steve
