Came in about 3 pm today and I’ve been trying it out for an hour now. I’ve only tried the Toque Coke so far but I love it! I’ve noticed a couple of weird effects… one, I haven’t sneezed from it but I’ve been suffering from some seasonal allergies the past couple of days and been sneezing like crazy already. But upon my first sniff, it tingled and I noticed my allergies seem to have been temporarily relieved. Also, I started using it about 30 minutes after a cigarette and it suddenly made me cough up quite a bit of smoking phlegm. Anybody else experience anything similar to these events? All in all I like it and I’m glad I stumbled on it. Any suggestions on other snuffs to try are welcome
Toque coke is a very nice snuff indeed. Toque peppermint is brilliant as is Rose, Blueberry and pomegranate. Try a menthol snuff like toques own, or hedges, youll either love it or hate it but always good for when you have a cold.
Aye, snuff also killed my rhinitis and finally got rid of my horrid post nasal drip that has plagued me for years. Being able to wake in the morning without barfing up mucus is a pleasure.
mine has improved as well.
Okay so I’ve been using it about two days now and I’m wondering if I’m doing it wrong… When I sniff it it gets up to the middle of my nose (a little past where the hard cartilage starts) and it kinda burns. Am I getting it too far up my nose? Also should I be cleaning it out often or maybe just once every few days? Thanks

Thanks " Sounds like you’re huffing it too much, the best solution to this is just to take your sniffs slower and if you start to feel an unpleasant burn then decrease the force of your sniff. This way you can train yourself and hone your technique until you can find the sweet spot without even trying. Cleaning your nose is a matter of preference, I don’t clean mine at all I just blow it when I can feel a good crust starting to shawshank it’s way out, but if you’re suffering any irritation then go for it.
@Mryan If it feels like your brain is in suspended animation, you’ve done it right. I guess a burn isn’t really a sign you’re doing it wrong. I’m no expert and screw up from time to time myself. Try to master your own PERSONAL technique, using some of the good folks advice to guide you on here. That’s what makes it enjoyable. I use a netipot mostly every other day, but I know some never use one and some twice a day.
I’ve had severe sinus problems for most of my life, and I find that snuff makes them much better. I think it’s because most snuffs get a secretion going, which is very soothing. I also use a neti pot every evening before I go to bed, and give it a good blow when I turn my head from sideways to downwards. I like what Bart says about “If it feels like your brain is in suspended animation, you’ve done it right.” That’s exactly the way I feel when I’ve done a good hit. Everything just STOPS for a short while, and then slowly resumes. Like when you stand up too fast, except much more pleasant. For me, a good burn is a sign I’m doing it right, and I prefer snuffs that burn just as I used to prefer full strength cigarettes to “Lights.” It wasn’t just for the nicotine.
There is anecdotal evidence that one of the virtues of snuff is its ability to ameliorate the symptoms of seasonal allergies. I know that last year, the year I rediscovered snuff, I was able to endure the entire allergy season with only two boxes of medicine. In previous years, by the time allergy season was at its end, I was taking even the “twenty-four hour” stuff every four to six hours.
I’m happy your rhinitis(es) all got better but snuff has made mine a lot worse. I have to take an antihistamine, PLUS singulair or my eyes get swollen, grow membranes, I start coughing. And when the allergy seasons of late spring and ragweed fall kick in, I have to do a steroid nasal spray. It has been bad for many years. Snuff has made it worse the last 5 months. It has made me sharply decrease my use… too bad I guess. Best of luck!
I used to get terrible congested, and was on the cusp of totally quitting snuff. I couldn’t figure out what was going on, as when I 1st snuffed, it was great, and never had an issue. Over time, I think it’s a personal reaction to certain snuffs. And it seems like the the English and German snuffs really affected me most. The sharp menthols, and even non-menthols, I think the bergamot perhaps as well. Toque SP Extra really clogged me up, as did Bernards Klostermishung. But it’s been a long while now, and I have not been congested at all. I have been exclusively snuffing traditional Indian snuffs, Dholakia, Sun, 5 Photo, and they are not congesting me. I have also switched to pinching instead of off the back of the hand, not sure if that had an effect, but I think it may have too.
@nicola037:You are probably allergic to a common ingredient in snuff, not the tobacco. This means if you can figure out which ingredient you can avoid the allergies. The most likely (not knowing which snuffs you use) is bergamot. It is in many snuffs, but you would be suprised how many don’t have it. Try using one snuff at a time for a while. I would start with a plain American Scotch or a Toast as they are pretty much plain tobacco. If you clear up try another until you get a reaction, then analyze the different ingredient in the offending snuff.
