I have been visiting a monastery for a week. While I was going to the bus terminal to come home, I was informed by my Spiritual Father (an Eastern Orthodox Archimandrite) that I had been accepted into: The Brotherhood of Sanctified Sniffers. The Brotherhood is an order of monastics who indulge in our mutual practice. Including me, there were 3 of us at that monastery alone in eastern Pennsylvania. This should make us all aware that a message board on the Internet is not the _ only _ gathering of snuff sniffers!
I must say that black cassocks solve all sorts of problems when it comes to dribbles and spillage!

Unless you’re taking High Dry Toast!
Congratulations! I stay at a Carmelite friary two or three times a year, but none of the brothers seem to snuff unfortunately, so I am very envious.
Tap your heels together 3 times and say: There’s no place like Om There’s no place like Om There’s no place like Om
@Rodrick – It was my eighth visit to this particular monastery. While they have not yet accepted me as a postulant, at least I can honestly say now that I am a member of the Brotherhood (albeit a humorous subdivision.) I still have work to do here in Rochester while my mother is still alive and my Spiritual Father wants to take me to Mount Athos in Greece (which is probably better done before I am formally affiliated with any monastery.) The fact that the abbot had me bring some proof-reading work home with me is another step in the right direction, along with the fact that this time he told me to “Come back _ soon! _” (Recently I have been visiting monthly.)
@FrigginSantaClaus – Did I mention that Fr. Athanasy has a dog named “Toto?”

Nothing to worry about… Within the monastery you see all sorts of stains (even white paint) on the everyday cassocks that monks wear.

There’s no such thing as coincidence
Athos would be an interesting place to visit even for the non-religious. When I hear about it or see pictures it just seems out of this world (which frankily is one of my favorite places to visit if I can.
Well then, that’s just nifty. Congrats!
Hey, this took a lot of time, reflection and effort on your part… and I am not just talking about the snuff. Congratulations and may you be ever so happy with your choices!!!
If you don’t want snuff stains on your raisson you might want to try F&Ts Prince of Peace. It’s made not to show on black cloth. Happy snuffing, but remember snuff is an indulgence, so you’ll have to give it up if you go for the Greater Schema. Spassi i Sokhrani nam Bozhye.
I usually partake of: 6 Photo Kailash and 6 Photo Special. Both of these appear to be invisible on my black shirts. For me, snuff is somewhere between an “indulgence” and a “theraputic vice” due to the fact that my Ear, Nose & Throat doctor told me to use it (I have drug interactions between decongestants and my other medications.)
Do they have any ancient snuff secrets?
Watch out where the Huskies go, and don’t you eat that Yellow snow!
This morning I’m heading off to the monastery again for a week with a 200 g tin of 6 Photo Kailash for my Spiritual Father.
What a good spirit son you are.
Well, I’m back home… My possibilities are making steady progress… When I casually mentioned to the abbot that “one day I might even live here”… The response was “maybe someday…” That’s a lot better than the “you’re too old” that I got last year!
