I was looking for a thread about this snuff because I was sure I’d seen one regarding the fact that manufacture was being brought back to the UK from wherever, but can’t seem to find that. Anyways - I was running a little low on my SP No 1 a while back so I went to the tobacconist’s to get a new large tin. I was surprised to find it no longer in the vacuum tins, but thought hey-ho, I’ll just tip this lot into the vacuum tin at home and it’ll keep okay. I still had some in that vacuum tin and as far as I’m concerned what comes in the tins now is not what was in the vacuum tin I purchased previously. I went back to said tobacconist today to see if they had any of the little plastic tubs of No1 left, so I could go home and compare and contrast. They hadn’t got any. But I’m sure it was a different scent, grind and colour before these new tins. Does anyone know if and when they transferred manufacture back to the UK? Has anyone found the same as me since they did this? Am I going mad or is there no difference between McChrystal’s SP and what’s now found in tins of J&HW SP No1, even down to the fact that the large tins are the same design, and packaged the same way when new and unopened? Opinions welcome, folks…
First time I tried snuff, it was this very one in the blue plastic tub. That’s what started me on the snuff trail. It was a little gritty when dehydrated, but still usable. The next batch I tried was ultra fine and unusable (for me). I liked the older version much better, but won’t buy any of the newer stuff again
