Please nominate who you think should be the spokesman of the ISTA (even yourself).
and also please sell the nominated persons or at least I think that would be good.
I’d nominate Basement Shaman as he is a wealth of tobacco information and has been around for a good long while. I appreciate his posts and his sticking up for people on the forum. He doesn’t suffer fools either which is nice.
I second @basement_shaman as spokesman.
I say Abraxas if he has any interest. And I know he understands the difference between speaking for oneself and for the organization.
Mr Chairman @basement_shaman has been seconded you need to ask for questions or vote on him ! I think we should stick as close as we can to Roberts Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure as we can to stay on point , Except for the roll call of members present because of time diffrences !
@basement_shaman What say you ?
I am not speaking against Basement Shaman in any way whatsoever, but I have to agree with bob. I vote Abraxas. As a business man and manufacturer, he seems a natural choice to be a spokeman for the organization.
Perhaps it might be a good idea to have co-spokesmen? Both basement_shaman and Abraxas are excellent choices and have the experience and knowledge to represent the ISTA. Just a thought - but if it has to come to only one maybe we could have an anonymous poll?
I was hoping someone would volunteer.
Wow - you guys have been busy. If we are talking about a media spokesperson then I think @crullers is right. In a corporate situation the ideal would be to have more than one person. This means that you can cover different areas of expertise and hopefully avoid the possibility of a spokesman being unavailable when the press come calling. Also, covering the different countries where the membership are based would be a good plan, e.g. a UK journalist probably wouldn’t want to interview someone from the USA and vice versa. Assuming you go for that route you then need a protocol to determine how enquiries, which would presumably come through the site, are filtered and responded to, etc, plus some guidelines for dealing with the media that would be common for all spokespersons. All this might be over-egging the situation, but it depends to what extent you want things done ‘with business way’.
I agree that we should have 2 spokespersons, one in the EU and one in North America. I nominate Abraxas and basement_shaman.
well if it’s joint I would certainly volunteer.
I will do anything in my power to aid in the success of promoting the honorable face of the ISTA. As long as I agree with the majority’s conclusions of how it should be presented , Of course I will not be a puppet nor will I stress my own views without the members whole conscience
I am very flattered gents, but having me in an official role might lead to the ISTA being perceived as being too close to the ‘business’ or of developing the flavour of a trade organisation. When the ISTA was first mooted, years ago, I thought an industry figure would be ideal in a figurehead role - I suggested Roderick - but I have my doubts now; not about Roderick personally, of course, but the principle. I am also (jointly with Johnny) the smallest producer in the snuff world and If the members do want a trade figure then maybe one that is more widely known would be a better choice; which leads back to Roderick in any case. But, I suggest that the ISTA is grass-roots led and business people do not hold office. My nomination, therefore, is for basement_shaman and bob. I think two spokespersons’ would be a good idea and in my view both would be excellent choices. I don’t think we need EU/US representatives, at least not at this early stage. All that said, if there is anything I can ever advise on or contribute to unofficially I am more than happy to do so but I will rule myself out of any official office.
I must resign , I have pancreatic cancer.
@basement_shaman , I hope for you the best. You’ve given us all much insight, and your posts, every one, are appreciated here. I wish you well, and even more so, wish I could do more than that. Thank you for your service, both to ISTA and to Snuffhouse, in general. I’ll wager a bet that there are many you’ve helped outside the scope of this forum. In fact, I suspect there are many. Thank you.
I wish you the very best Joe.
@basement_shaman Joe I’m very sorry for your condition ! Be strong you will survive ! C. B. D. oil helped me . GOOD LUCK TO YOU !
I just read this and all I can say is that’s fucked.
