I asked Mr. Snuff about ISTA laser engraved wooden snuff boxes and Dave told me that he needs to make sure that he can sell a minimum of 30 snuff boxes in order to break even.
In order to assist in the campaign, I have added a new bit about ISTA on my snuff page. http://www.howdydave.com/snuff.html along with a link to Mr. Snuffs page showing samples of wooden snuff boxes.
My page includes:
"The idea originated and has been developed under the auspices of “snuffhouse.org.”
Here are my thoughts: I would love to carry an ISTA snuffbox, but I also understand that Dave has to run a business. Once the new Six Photo shipment arrives I will be putting in an order, but I don’t know when I will make one after that. The shipping makes me want to make larger, less frequent orders to the states. Anyway, I would be willing to buy a dummy item on the site for the estimated cost of the snuffbox, even if it is still in question if there will be enough demand to make them. If there is enough demand for them, I could just have the prepaid box slipped into a future order that I make. If there is not enough demand, I could receive the amount that I paid as a credit that I could use on a future order. This would guarantee Dave the funds would be spent at his store regardless of the outcome of the box debate, which hopefully would be worth his while for handling the process. There would have to be a time limit on how long people would have to commit to the snuff box purchase (3 - 4 months or so as a guess), so everyone involved wouldn’t be hanging in limbo forever. Again, just my thoughts. I look forward to see what others have in mind.
I got my Poschl snuffbox from Dave a LOT cheaper by buying it on e-bay and having it shipped from New York state (snuff boxes are not a tobacco product.).
Don’t know if that will be an option or not. I should think that ebay would give him a larger market. His ebay seller name is mrsnuffcom.
I see a Mr. Snuff engraved 3" wooden snuff box for {removed by cstokes4} for shipping.
@howdydave:
I wouldn’t quote any prices on behalf of Mr. Snuff, rather bad form.
I haven’t noticed an ISTA thread since the last on some months ago. That is an indicator of interest.
@cstokes4 - I bow to your preferences for form on this board…
The problem is, if you say it should cost this and there is interest shown by others then Mr. Snuff has these made and they end up costing more than you quoted… some folks might grab their pitchforks and torches, plus it might end up screwing over Mr. Snuff.
Just looking out for everyone’s interest.
OK… I was just making a spot quote from a listed item on a public market. That’s standard form in some other circles. (You see it every day in the stock market reports.)
I must say I don’t disagree with you there greengrass
I must say… how rude it is to imply not trusting a member on this forum when you’ve only been a member for 48 hours.
unless there is some humor that I’ve missed?
@ nightcap, GreenGrass has a validated point, I stand my ground.
I hope there is some humor that I missed. This thread is getting a bit tense.
sorry.
I don’t mean to make it tense.
I’m not even sure what is going on here.
I’m curious about the “validated point” though.
@ nightcap I think what GreenGrass is on about. The association to a none organisation.
I’m closing this thread right now.
