News EU laws are boycotting a centuries old culture of smokeless tobacco use. Is there a way to revert this negative view on all the tobacco products and to protect the existing manifacturers of snuff?
What there’s in the mind of EU bureaucrats and health lobbist? Smokeless tobacco is far from being as dangerous as cigarettes.

Only for yourselfs. If in the UK Stock pile a bit while you can, before the gov change things. So you end up buying fags. I’m buying hauls here and there where I can.

Regarding faceless EU bureaucrats – here are some actual faces (see below) although the names are withheld. While the names behind the faces hardly constitute household words (no Boris Johnsons or Donald Trumps here) does anyone recognise these people? They are bureaucrats who wield much power but without any electoral mandate whatsoever save that of their fellow cronies? That’s why few, if any from outside the EU, will recognise them. So, with respect to your question the answer is no.

Here are some responses to ministers from those pictured below regarding snuff in Greece, Denmark and Finland.

  1. Greece
Concerning national provisions notified by Greece prohibiting the placing on the market of chewing and nasal tobacco……
On the basis of the considerations set out above, having regard to the information and data submitted by the Greek authorities, and taking account of the objective of ensuring a high level of public health that Directive 2014/40/EU is intended to achieve, the national prohibition on the placing on the market of chewing and nasal tobacco may be regarded as complying with the requirements laid down in Article 24(3) of the Directive. It is therefore appropriate for national measures prohibiting the placing on the market of chewing and nasal tobacco to be approved.

  2. Denmark
To Minister Magnus Heunicke of Denmark
At the same time, I take this opportunity to assure you that this issue will be given specific consideration in the context of the upcoming Commission report on the application of the Tobacco Products Directive to be submitted to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions by May 2021.

If needed, we will not hesitate to address the necessary modifications. In the meantime, you might consider prohibiting certain categories of tobacco or related products, such as chewing or nasal tobacco.

  1. Finland
On the basis of the considerations set out above, having regard to the information and data submitted by Finland, and taking account of the objective of ensuring a high level of public health that Directive 2014/40/EU is intended to achieve, the national prohibition on the placing on the market of chewing- and nasal tobacco may be regarded as complying with the requirements laid down in Article 24(3) of the Directive.

(35) This conclusion does not, however, extend to any other categories of smokeless
tobacco product that have not been identified by the Finnish authorities and in respect of which a notification would be required under Article 24(3) of Directive 2014/40/EU.

(36) It is therefore appropriate for national measures prohibiting the placing on the market of chewing tobacco and nasal tobacco to be approved.
