Hahah that is very confusing. What does it actually mean? I remember the nicks of most of the people who own shops. I can’t remember if mrsnuff ever came on here or not.

@MrSnuff is listed as one of the admins.  Not sure if he is the “real” Mr Snuff that you seek though.

Thanks, that would explain why my thread got deleted. Real nice when a site sponsor is one of the site admins.

I guess this is just one of his many snuff selling sites rather than a real forum.

Mr Snuff owns Snuffhouse .He pays the bill to keep snuffhouse running.  I think Abraxas sold it to him, Alex started this forum, original owner. And why would you think nicmizer is MS?

Yes, nothing stays the same. SH is always evolving.  A few years back the ISTA tried a resurrection; new members were pissed off cause you needed two year commitment as a snuffhouse member to join. They called us an elite private club some people just didn’t understand that the ISTA was for the betterment of the snuff community and it was to work towards education of the public and private sectors .  I was nominated spokesperson and then I resigned my post when I was struck with cancer, no one picked up the torch and the flame of the ISTA was distinguish. 

@jmahes not as far as I can tell. Several of my posts were deleted today and a thread I started and that @basement_shaman participated in was deleted. Nobody bothered contacting me to explain why the posts or thread were deleted.

A “forum” that is owned by the “sponsor” without clearly stating that seems more like just another shill site to drive sales. The web is a very dirty business and censorship is way uncool and personally I won’t tolerate it. Nobody should.

was the deleted thread about McChrystal’s web store? If it was and it was deleted that would be way uncool (as would your leaving before an explanation from Dave) I hope you stick around and that @Mrsnuff chimes in with an explanation. 

edit: it seems unlikely, other direct sellers are mentioned without being deleted.

I suppose personally it doesn’t bother me at all. I wouldn’t mind it at all if Mr Snuff did promos and reviews on here under a ‘Mr Snuff’ heading. I’d find that useful.

It was probably what I said about the USA site and factory fresh being false.

If I’m reading the moderator “change log” correctly, it wasn’t Dave either. I won’t say more until I get more information. 

Of course, no one’s being forced to stay on this forum. Anyone that’s unhappy can leave at any time. I’m sure some day I’ll stop visiting SH. I’ll just quietly leave… I won’t try to start up trouble on my way out. What would be the point? I have more important things to do in my life. 

I just stumbled across this just now. I can’t believe yet again I am being accused of censorship or whatever.

Will one of the mods please explain my totally hands-off approach with snuffhouse? That philosophy has always been in place and it has not changed.

The mods have total control of the site.

My understanding is that there is no censorship per se, but there are some behaviors and topics that are off-limits. In other words guidelines. Again these were set by the mods not me.

Well,I read this site quite often. I don’t post as much as some but I work way too much otherwise I probably would. It doesn’t matter to me if a distributor owns the site. I’ve found lots of useful info on here and a damned knowledgeable group of people from all corners of the world. Censorship sucks unless it’s legitimately called for, I just hope it works out for all peoples involved. @Snuffbox I’ve always enjoyed your posts and level of knowledge so hope you stick around.

On a side note, this is the ONLY forum that I spend any time on at all. The reason being is because it’s civilized and welcoming. So to all the people that make it work, thanks.

btw, I have no idea who @nicmizer is, but it isn’t me. I have only one handle here and this is it.

I’ve been here for years. Hell I was here back when Alex, the original owner, was active. I’v enever seen any bias exhibited here towards any legit web seller. Of course for 5 or 6 years now we in the US have had only one real choice anyway.There have been a couple kerfluffles over people trying to use the site/posts for purely commercial activities. They don’t stay long. I’ve seen a bunch of complaint posts about MrSnuff allowed to exist, at least until they descended into personal attacks and bickering.

FOr the most part this is sthe only forum I actually particpate on. I read many others, but choose to only get involved here. Mainly due to the civility and composure of most of our members. This is truly a genteel forum. The non civilized don’t last to long. 

I will gladly vouch that @MrSnuff has a hands-off approach.  Dave did not delete or censor anyone’s post.  Furthermore, he has never instructed me to delete or censor anyone’s post.  And from what I have seen, he’s never instructed any of the other Moderators to delete or censor anyone’s post.

Dave is generous enough to pay for the forum without any conditions of exclusivity.  We’ve all seen that multiple sellers (commercial snuff-makers, distributors, and artisan snuff-makers) are mentioned, posted about, and linked to on this message board frequently without any censoring or deletion.

@miamimark is following up on what was deleted and why.  So, perhaps we could all give each other the benefit of the doubt.  The snuffhouse.com board strikes me as unique in the gentlemanly good will shown between members, and I think we can certainly maintain that tone while it is figured out.

@Snuffbox, I can tell from your posts how the disappearance of that post makes you feel.  And its not a good feeling.  But, take a little time before you actually decide to leave.  I enjoy reading your posts…

I can’t believe a harmless comment I made last night came to this turmoil. I had nothing to do with what has happened and deserve respect as I am only a member and have no control over what higher powers do! I respect all members here and what they say but my grammar may have convinced someone to pull a plug. I am sorry for what ever happened. Hope someone gets answers they are looking for as this dose not make me feel comfortable being the topic of focus. No relation to Mr.Snuff but he is a great person to know. Hope everyone is still enjoying snuffing as I still am.

First, I too have been around since Alex owned the site. And I can attest that the site is one of integrity and its members are really decent people. 

That said, I do think it would be a good idea to have a generic PM from the mod group explaining why a thread or post has been deleted. Something like:

Dear member,

Your post/thread, titled_______ was deleted due to ( chose one: offensive language, personal attack, unsupported accusation, etc…). If you have any questions please feel free to PM the moderators at this account.

I think something like this would be helpful towards promoting appropriate forum behavior. Otherwise, your members will be left to guess why the post was taken down and thus unclear on the boundaries.

Ok, firstly Dave is not censoring anyone’s posts, he owns the site, that’s it. He is not involved in the day to day moderation or running of the site. He does not have alias’ so please stop the blame. Also no member is censored, if threads of comments break the sites rules, they are deleted. The reason the thread has gone AWOL was down to me, I was cleaning up the trade threads and moving posts to the correct sections on the site so that they get the visibility they need in the right sections. The thread on the McCrystals webshop was in the wrong section, I lost my signal when I was moving threads as I was on my iPad on a train. The thread can be restored. @Snuffbox if you have a problem with this you can address it directly to me.

@MrSnuff: my sincere apologies for misunderstanding the situation and incorrectly attributing the overbearing, heavy-handed moderation and censorship to you. Thanks for paying for the hosting site and whatever other expenses. Furthermore, had I known you were taking on the full financial burden of running the site and not just that you had an advertising banner on it, I would have been more circumspect in my comments and at any rate no offense was intended.

@markstinson: Thank you for restoring the thread. I would like my comments in the Marketplace thread to be restored also. They were directly relevant to the trade and contained information useful both to the trader and to people considering trading. Please see my comments in that thread.

Thanks to everyone who opined conciliatory and supportive words in this thread and shame on the rest of you!

@Snuffbox.  I did not make the rules in the Marketplace, but discussions back and forth are against rule #4.  I didn’t delete your posts, but if you posts consisted of conversation back and forth with another member, then they will not be restored.  If you’d like, I could find the text of those discussions, and send them to you in a private message (or email) so you could re-post them in an appropriate category or discussion.  Just let me know.  I’d be glad to.
