Is it my imagination...

It seems to me bulk snuff is yummier than tin snuff.

It is; for a couple of simple resaons. Firstly the packaging tends to be high quality plastic cannisters that are airtight. And even when the bulk is sent in a plastic bag (as with Toque) the bulk of the snuff also tends to insulate itself (try putting a small amount of snuff in a snuffbox, and a large amount in another - the larger amount will stay fresher longer). Secondly, the snuff has not sat around in tins for ages either in a store or warehouse or whatever - and even the best tins can be imperfect and allow snuff to loose it’s flavour more quickly. If you make bulk purchase from either Toque or Wilsons say, you can know that the container has been filled to order -so you are getting factory fresh snuff. Buying in bulk can be pricey - although economical in the long run - and so for a lot of folks not possible, but I’ve always said that it’s the only way to experience snuff. A can of WH Best SP is a far cry from what you get in the bulk cannister.

Indeed. You also notice this effect towards the end of a small tin, the flavour loses drastically. The tiny tins are a good way to find out whether you generally like a flavour or not, but from there on, bulk is the thing to go for. Well, besides those snuffs you only like every now and then but not mainly.

I’ve only had the Toque in bulk. It keeps decently in the bags. I just keep them double bagged and all the air squeezed out, and they stay nice and fresh tasting.
