Is it bad to smoke cigarettess while using snuff?

A

I’m new to using snuff and smoke cigarettes as well as smoke pipe tobacco. Does any one else do this lol?

3

I still smoke cigarettes although I’m down to 5 or so a day

A

I work construction it’s a lot easier to light a cigarette than it is to snuff. When I use snuff when I get home it has cut down my smoking though.

J

Smoking can damage the cilia which do help make snuffing a more pleasurable experience.

B

cigarettes in slaved me for 40 years. I smoke pipes while working now. My lungs feel better I stop inhaling cigarettes. I use snuff all day at work also it is easy to get a dose faster then I can sharpen my carpenters pencil . And I can carve the point fast.

B

it will definatily increase your chances of getting snuff in the bronchi. As Juxtaposer said it kills cillia which are the hairs protecting your lungs and breathing passages. The smokers cough is caused by the lack of cilia. Because everything that goes down that way needs to come up and coughing is the only way if you don’t have cilia. My recomendation is smoke cheap cigars you don’t inhale.

A

Ya that’s easier said than done. I have been smoking cigs for 11 Years. It’s hard to get the nicotine my body needs just from snuff.

S

I gave up a 30 year habit with just snuff but if you feel you need more nicotine, get some snus too. Something like Oden’s Extreme and you’ll never need another cig again.

A

Thanks for the advice I’ll look into that

H

I still smoke cigarettes once in a blue moon at parties. Can’t really see how smoking cigarettes while snuffing would be more harmful than smoking cigarettes alone. I know what you mean about smoking at work, it’s hard to give up those breaks. But you can still take those breaks, you’re entitled to 10 or 15 minutes every 2 hours IIRC under US labor law, you don’t have to be smoking while on that break you can just hang out with the smokers and take some snuff.

A

Ya that’s true

S

I still smoke roll-ups and take snuff but I smoke about a third of what I used to before snuff. I have snus too for playing golf and when I’m somewhere I can’t smoke. I’m gradually cutting down the smokes but it ain’t easy, I smoke Van Nelle Zware Shag and I love the stuff (It’s Dutch tobacco and they call it ‘de weduwe’, meaning the widower, but seeing as I’m not married and have no kids I don’t really give a hoot). I’m finding as the weeks go by I’m getting more and more of a nicotine hit from the snuff and just seem to forget about fags for an hour or so. I was introduced to snuff with the intention of cutting down the fags though, not give them up entirely. I was a very heavy smoker prior to snuff.

I still smoke cigarettes like I said before, very much reduced. With Snuff I now have 2 things I didn’t have before. The first is the true belief that I could quit smoking, every time I would try to quit before this, I really believed deep down that I would never do it, I mainly thought of it as an agonizing break for my lungs until I started again. The other thing and this is big, before snuff all my idle moments were either smoking or thinking about smoking. I no longer have that Gorilla on my back, and I don’t feel this with Snuff, I enjoy taking it, but if I’m not I’m not counting the seconds until I can again. There are occasions, Just curious anyone ever take snuff in Church, just asking.

I

Just curious anyone ever take snuff in Church, just asking.

Yea, right in the middle of one of those big rousing choruses I whip out my No.22 and take a huge pinch. Unfortunately I then start coughing like I’m possessed and the whole place suddenly goes silent and everyone turns and just stares at me. A bit embarrassing.

T

I’ve taken snuff in church plenty of times. Last I checked there isn’t a commandment prohibiting it.

_

The 11th Commandment broke off, they were inscribed on stone. Holy Moses, did you share some with the pastor? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ }>>>>>> BTW…WELCOME @anthonyJ… I see your in Canada and may have a tough time getting a snuff with a high nicotine content… What kinda snuff you doing?

T

Welcome @AnthonyJ! And welcome @Shezzuk1! I still smoke RYOs, and have cut down to about 2 to 4 a day. Snuff, e-cigs, pipe tobacco and snus have been great in keeping the edge off. But I still like the sensation of warm smoke…that’s tough to get rid of. Occasionally I’ll smoke a cigarette with snuff in my nose or snus with snuff.

S

Thanks @TobaccyLassy, just had my Sunday dinner followed by a triple Lavazza espresso, a big thick Van Nelle and heaps of Toque Chocolate… Life’s good

I

In this part of the world cigarettes are referred to as The Evil Weed and today I could almost do with one. I think I’m having a bad snuff day and I don’t have anything else so will just have to get through but at least I’m still off The Evil Weed.

K

Interesting you mentioned taking snuff in church. I found this article a while back. Not sure if it was posted here before or not. ENJOY http://www.catholicworldreport.com/Item/1762/in\\_the\\_habit\\_a\\_history\\_of\\_catholicism\\_and\\_tobacco.aspx

N

I am Jewish, and while smoking or the lighting of any fire on Sabbath is forbidden, taking of snuff is not. Snuff is even allowed on Yom Kippur to refresh the soul, and I have shared some with the Rabbi in shul on that day.

F

I read a ridiculous book called “The easy way to stop Smoking” or something along those lines. A friend recommended it. I though it was a joke, but at the end of the book, you are told to smoke your last cig and throw out the pack. That is exactly what I did about 7 years ago. It’s amazing but this ridiculous book worked. It’s off topic, but just a suggestion.

Good web site and documentary. Thanks. IHT No.22 enabled me to quit smoking. The SP’s and florals, menthols etc helped but only when I got into that toast was I able to walk away from smoking and stay away. I am like Alan Carr though in that I waited 30 years before quitting. I did read his book about 15 years ago and I think it certainly had some good points but obviously did not work for me. One myth I think is that the longer you smoke the more difficult it is to quit. I don’t think this true at all. Cold turkey was not for me and pharmacutical products only helped me on the road to realising I wanted to quit. Toast snuff was my answer and if I would have discovered it earlier I could have quit then. BTW they didn’t show any of the people who lived to over 100 that smoked all of their lives or examine their cases to see why that may have been so. I suppose they would just say that there was some kind of different genes involved.

B

Stop smoking now and put that money away ,when you turn 50 you can buy a nice ride

S

I do know one thing. When I stopped smoking and got over the initial adjustment to snuff only, I found I was coughing a lot less when taking snuff and it made taking bigger pinches much easier. I think tobacco smoke has a detrimental effect on the protective surface of your throat, but I’m just hypothosising, so dont quote me on it. Just personal experience. I often get snuff in my throat but it doesnt bother me at all. When i smoked it made me cough like crazy.

M

I smoke about a pack a week still (basically only at work). I make them count, though–I prefer old-timey filterless cigarettes. They’re hard to find in Canada, but I’d be sad to see them go. The price of tobacco is atrocious here, which I guess helps keep the habit down. The last pack of cigarettes I bought was $17. A tin of my grandpa’s beloved Copenhagen in Manitoba is now $27. Snus is a relative bargain at $18 for General Titanium or Wintergreen.

N

I gave up a 20 year cigarette smoking habit for snuff, and light pipe smoking. I can breathe again and smell. The right snuff = the right nic hit. Awesome. Thank You Snuff Master’s and distributor’s! Real BACCY! no more o’ that Murican’ manufactured poison in a stick.

I remember reading somewhere or other that snuff is or was especially popular among Jewish people for this very reason. Is snuff-taking still at all common in the Jewish community?

H

I quit cigarettes cold turkey when they reached the ridiculously high price of $2/pack.

M

Two bucks eh? That’s when I started…now mine are $6 and some change to $7. The fancy Nat Sherman’s I like on occasion are about $10. Cutting down now, maybe getting closer to the lovely harbor of only smoking 1 or 3 on occasion…

I just placed an order for 75g of rolling baccy, but along with it was 100g of pipe baccy and 100g of snuff. I’m not ready to give up the rollies just yet. I still enjoy them, I just didn’t enjoy them controlling me and that has started to change now.

I

Here you can either support criminal gangs by buying their cheap fake or smuggled cigarettes or line the pockets of the government with tax which is then passed to the rich via the bankers. Another few good reasons to help keep me off the ciggies. Actually the last few times I have passed the super market cig counter I couldn’t help notice that there were no customers whereas previoulsy I would have had to queue. It seems that with the dead economy people are realising they can’t afford a ~ £50/week habit.

3

@50ft_trad have you ever looked at D&R tobacco their out of N Carolina some great RYO “pipe tobacco”

5

@3_D I don’t think they’re for sale this side of the pond (from what I can see), and the taxes and release fees etc would be WAY too nasty to buy some in. Thanks for the thought though.

T

@anthonyJ I have also smoked cigs for about 12 years and I also couldn’t get enough nic from snuff until I tried Taxi Red. Two large pinches in each nostril will have my head spinning, my heart racing and ready to run to the bathroom. Snuff has enough nicotine if you take enough of it with your pinch. This is true of any snuff I believe. Use more you’ll find your threshold.

H

I actually went and had a cigarette two or three days ago and found it very unsatisfying, the same way snuff was vaguely unsatisfying (though pleasurable) when I first used it. I guess my body has adjusted to this mode of nicotine intake.

S

@anthonj I used White Elephant when I quit cigarettes, and haven’t had one for 48 days. I do however, enjoy a pipe once or twice a month.

D

Now that I’ve quit smoking with the help of snuff, like @horus92 , when I do occasionally smoke, I find it disgusting. As an added deterrent, whenever I do smoke I eventually get a sinus infection. I can honestly say I don’t miss it. Like @basement_shaman, I was enslaved by cigarettes. My relationship with tobacco and nicotine since I’ve taken up snuff full-time is completely different.

V

It is always bad to smoke cigarettes.

J

Since discovering snuff, I’ve gone from smoking about eight pipes a day to about two. I enjoy the two much more now. I still have one as the main component of my breakfast, with a cup of strong Twinings tea. And another one in the evening, after I’ve done everything I need to do. But if don’t have the time or need to rush out the door first thing, I don’t miss them.

S

I used to smoke Thirty roll ups a day, had very bad breathing difficulties and I always felt like I had a cold. Since I discovered Snuff and Snus i have cut my smoking down by 75% and I feel great. I no longer have to sneak off between breaks to have a roll up in the toilets!

X

If the question is whether I use multiple forms of tobacco concurrently, then the answer is ‘yes’. I’m known to smoke and take snuff or twist or snus at same time. When I was trying to quit cigarettes and was given the patch, then you guessed it, I smoked with the patch on too. My tobacco usage somewhat depends on the situation: I wouldnt be smoking cigarettes or pipe while Im out playing soccer. I use snus and twist. I’m not condoning multiple tobacco usage. I genuinely enjoy tobacco in almost all forms except american wet snuff albeit i’ll take some copenhagen if it was offered and I could spit somewhere inconspicuous. I simply like the taste of tobacco; otherwise, if it were just about nicotine, there are simple non-tobacco alternatives to get nicotine like tobacco-free nicotine pouches, gum, mints, vape.

M

This sounds like a page out of my past. Year’s ago I started snuff because I wanted to remove cigarettes and only them. I loved everything else but probably like yourself, I only managed to create a new addition to my tobacco habit. In 2020, I quit all tobacco when I developed COPD ib the form of bronchiolitis and was almost taken out by pneumonia. I recently came back to snuff but only in the tobacco-less form for the head clearing properties. I truly hope you find a good balance and can remove cigarettes completely.
Good luck and to you might want to keep in mind that the more nicotine you put in your system, more receptors are created that want to be fed.

P

What? Dopamine receptors learn to process in shorter cycle. We aren’t growing nicotine receptors.
