Info on Snuff Divers Rally

I happened upon a couple of ebay auctions listing pins from KDMCC (Kingston {or maybe Kinlochleven} & District Motorcycle Club?) Snuff Divers Rally:

KDMCC02

After further research, I found a site that showed these pins as well, though offered little additional info.

Anyone have any clue as to what the connection is here? Was it just the local snuff mill sponsoring these rallies? Does this go back to the Mods vs Rockers days? Color me intrigued…

Looks like it was Kendal looking to sponsor CC/MC’s so people saw tough guys using their snuff. Maybe from the era, but it doesn’t seem to be of the social conflict. Even current CC/MC culture in the states, tough guys chew/dip, only fags smoke cigs. Totally worth picking up one if you’re into off-script advertising practices. Snuff Divers Rally was the most fruitful search term that I used.

Anyone know the rules of a cafe race?

Think it was more a case of an MC tapping (no pun intended) into local heritage.

I strongly doubt these are promotionial . I’m guessing it was a regular event of the local Kendal MCC and the badges were made for attendees on the run . I think they made fresh badges every year and folk used to collect them or wear loads of them at once .

As a lifelong hoon and motorcyclist, I’d accept that. I forget that clubs used to be about shared enthusiasm. But read Dr Thompson’s description of the “biker.” We beat ourselves so bad with our machines that there’s not a lot you can do to stun motorcyclists.

I always thought clubs were misrepresenting tough. Matching outfits and motorcycles, lots of leather, scarcity of women. It’s like going to Palm Springs California whenever they pull up. It’s adorable.
