These generally take quite a beating around here, but I know that I can’t be the only one who enjoys the American sweet snuffs. I can’t be the only person who is buying these from Nicotine Rush, right? No, I can’t snuff them more than a couple times per day, and I can go weeks without touching any of them, but they are unique and have their place. Many of them seem strange initially (smoky wild cherry or strawberry, for instance), but once you learn to appreciate them you know there is nothing in the world quite like them. Then again, I do love sorghum molasses (and I’m not even from the South), so I don’t find them to be as oddly tasting as a lot of people think they are. (It’s always funny to me that so many swear that these are artificially sweetened. It’s obvious that they’ve never tasted sorghum molasses, which is about as far from “artificial” as can be gotten.) Anyway, I guess I just have a sweet tooth (nose) tonight, as I’ve been going back and forth between Tops Sweet and Wild Cherry over the past hour. That must be the snuff equivalent of eating a 7-layer chocolate cake topped with ice cream. I never paid much attention to the Tops Sweet tin that’s been sitting on my desk for months, but tonight I’m really loving it. I’ve seen comments on other threads that seem to indicate that some are almost embarrassed to admit to liking any of the American Sweets. Hell, I like them and will freely admit it. Why not?
I love Wild Cherry and I like Honey Bee a lot.
You took the words right out of my mouth (as it were) Pieter! Wild Cherry, Honey bee and Red Seal are the only 3 sweets I like.
I enjoy quite a few : in order of preference; RR Mills Sweet Navy Sweet Carhart’s Choice Buttercup Red Seal Devoe I will say that occasionally when I’m doing sweets, I take a nice snuff and then quite a bit later I get the ‘acid drip’ in the back of my throat that I don’t get with any other snuff, not even the fine regular scotches. Not sure why the sweets do this to me, but I still enjoy them just the same.
I use to hate all sweets because of the drip too. Once I changed from bullets to the “thumbnail” method, that problem was solved. I also enjoy some of the dholakias now, that I didn’t enjoy before.
Society and Tops are by far the sweetest of the sweet snuffs. I really have to be in the right mood to have those. I’d say that Tube Rose and Peach are at the lower end of the sweetness scale, with W.E. Garrett Sweet and Mild being in the middle. Carhart’s is perhaps the only sweet I’ve yet to try. I’ll have to remember to include a tin in my next snuff order.
I alternate pretty regularly, but at this point I have every sweet snuff Tom sells except the conwood dental. Some I like more than others, but they are all interesting. Among my non-snuffing friends that will occasionally decide to have a pinch at the bar, the wild cherry was a big hit. My favorites are also eerily similar to Barts picks but I favor Navy sweet over RR mills. And then I would probably bump buttercup down a little further and replace it with the wild cherry.
Here, here for Wild cherry.
I knew I was missing something there… I will have to get Wild Cherry one of these orders. (I’m still afraid of the Dixie Sweet. Every time I see it on web site, I think of a can of souse meat, or a can of fruit in heavy syrup?)
Railroad Mills Maccoboy is also one of my favourites and I also do some Red Seal occasionally
Tho I’ve only tasted a few, I appreciate a good Sweet Scotch here and there. My favs are Red Seal, Carhart’s, and W.E. Garrett. Been meaning to try that Cherry.
My favorite sweets: Dixie Wild Cherry Peach & Honey Lorillard’s Dixie has some very faint notes of fruit, but it’s very easy going. Wild Cherry is great, one of my favorite snuffs period.
Man…I was on the fence about ordering the Wild Cherry with my last order…Now I am filled with regret!! There’s always next time I guess!! The Wiz!
I love my Railroad Mills Sweet. I just tried the Peach sample I got with my order from Tom, and like that too, although I can’t see myself using it nearly as much. Still, I made sure my order came to over $50 just so that I could get my free tin of RR Mills Sweet, even though I’ve only put the slightest dent in the one I’ve already got. Not something I’d take all day, but they’ve got their place.
I’m glad somebody opined on the Dixie. Been wondering how that one tasted but never remembered to read the reviews on it.
I’ma try some Honey Bee and Red Seal in my next order.
Wiz, on my last order I debated between the Cherry and the strawberry. I picked the strawberry, I regret I didn’t order the cherry. To all the experienced snuffers, How’s the swisher wild cherry compare to other cherry snuffs ?
In my opinion, if you like 1 swisher sweet snuff, you will like them all. It’s funny, but because of the cheap little cigars they sell, I was sort of leery about trying swisher, assuming they wouldn’t be that good. But, now I think they are my favorite american manufacturer. Not that I don’t enjoy all others too.
I just recieved my Sweets today…Unfortunatly I do not care for them. For some reason they all seem to have the same undertones(which I am not at liberty to identify yet),much too dry for me also. I may have set the bar too high with my expectations…or I may be too inexperienced with this type of snuff? I have been enjoying Toque and Dholakia snuffs since the get go…I suppose I shall be staying with what works for me!!( I did happen to like the three thistle scotch I recieved with my order…go figure!!) The Wiz!
