Hey everyone! I was wondering which is better… Nasal or oral snuff? I am a big fan of the kind in my lip. this song says it best! http://soundcloud.com/jeffgrant4real/pinch-of-the-chew-remastered
I prefer nasal snuff to oral snuff for many reasons. 1.) price. nasal snuff is incredibly cheap. even the heaviest user won’t use more than a couple dollars worth of snuff in a day whereas a dip user can easily use $4-8 (if you’re fortunate enough to live where it’s cheap!). 2.) unsightliness. most people see a guy with a huge dip in his lip and think it’s nasty. most think it’s more disgusting than cigarettes. nobody will notice if you have snuff in your nose or not. 3.) pleasure. the nicotine hits you in a more uplifting way whereas the nicotine in oral tobacco tends to make me feel droopy (which is nice every once in a while!). 4.) flavor. the world of snuff has an incredibly wide variety of flavors that you would really not believe when compared to the oral tobacco market (snus may be an exception to this). Welcome to the board, and perhaps make a proper introduction in the “Introduce Yourself” thread.
I used to dip exclusively till I tried nasal snuff. Now its all I use. Pike summed it up pretty well, I switched for the exact reasons he listed.
Nasal Snuff for the win! EDIT : Honestly, this one thing I will say about the snuff… Just ONE thing . I really enjoy the scents of the snuff themselves… Not even so much the nicotine, that’s not really what I’m going for… Unless I want to kill a craving… No, the SCENTS are excellent… It is so awesome to have a nose full of a snuff you LOVE… The SMELL! ITS AMAZING! Sniff snuff, you will be happy
I personally find chew gross. That’s just me though.
@transistor, I love chewing but then it must be sirloin steak.
right?! ha ha I can chew that all day!
Yarboze, you might want to look into Samuel Gawith SP Scotch. Its great both nasally and orally as a dip. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
I use both fairly often for totally diffrent reasons. I would try the taxi red and ntsu black for good oral tobacco’s. You have to use less, they taste better, and if you upper deck them they dont make you spit hardly at all. Nasal snuff is the tops for flavor though. I recommend…both!
The only oral snuff I use is Swedish snus, which is spit-free, and more or less inconspicuous. But I use it much more than nasal snuff. Each has benefits and drawbacks, but my day doesn’t seem complete without both of them.
I used to dip… a lot. The terrible heartburn and acid indigestion has caused me to stop. I’ve been snuffing for 5 years. The variety beats dip or chew hands-down.
I’d totally forgotten those days of acid reflux spells from dip. With nasal snuff a temporary clogged nose is the worst I’ve experienced.
I used almost all tobacco products in the world… Cigarettes, Sigars, Pipe, snuff, dip, Chew, pipe. Of all these only 1 makes me feel sick : Dip. I always get a sick feeling in my stomach from that stuff, I do like the taste though ( Copenhagen Long cut - NICE ). It’s not the Nicotine, because I can use Extra strong Snus with no problems… I keep it to snuff and Snus these days… Tried some chew, to sweet and to much sugar in most of them.
Nasal snuff, then snus, followed closely by chew (Red Man FTW!). Dip isn’t bad, but I am not compelled to buy it. Conwood Peach does a good double duty as nasal snuff and dip. I know others dip the US scotches.
I will admit, Red Man is some damn good chew
