Hello guys.
By accident, is there any good soul that can get me Samuel Gawith 25 gr tins of Black Arabica above all, or even Kendal Brown, Scotch Black, Black Rappee, London Brown?
I live in Italy.
Good morning our anxious international!
You currently have very fresh accesses to some of the best Kentucky cultivars outside of Kentucky. Hell, I might even buy a pack of cigarettes if I were in Italy. Is there a disproportionate amount of taller men wearing above the knee troos in a certain district? If so, they’re German and a package store near them has snuff. Or back to availabilty; DFK (double fermented by nature), a coffee grinder, washing soda and salt. That’d be a fine black toast, no need to ferment. Grind, sift. sniff. Skol!
Thought I’d rec making it if access is hard for you.
It’s not too hard, and I’ve done it a bunch of times from MonteCristo Cuban cigars and whole leaf tobacco.
Here’s an easy straightforward way to go about it or generally follow, that I’ve done more than once:
***general post to make snuff:
6% carb. and 2% salt would do it. Dissolve both in 20% water (warm), thoroughly mix with tobacco flour/powder and leave to rest in some airtight container for 3 days (i like to do it for 7 days often, or more). If you have a fine mesh sieve, sift your finished snuff for a beautiful texture. Make a small 10 g test batch first and see how you find it. To make 10 g snuff, you would need 7.2 g tobacco flour, 2 g water, 0.6 g carbonate and 0.2 g salt. Consider adding less carbonate to your first batch, like 4-5%.
Sodium carbonate;
If you have sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) you can bake it on a sheet etc, in a thin layer like 1-3" deep at 400-420 temp for 40min. You should lose about 1/3rd of your staring weight of baking soda (so you know it worked). Just put say 50-100g, and after baking (oven fan off ofcourse) after it’s cooled for like an hr or so, weight it.
Super easy.
Use baking soda meant for consumption imo.
Hope that helps
@Giuxi try to connect with a forum member from UK to purchase them and send them to you as a gift.
Thanks for the advice but it doesn’t seem so simple, at least for me .
Thank you for the advice .
Here’s a Great straightforward video, which I also think is pretty useful to follow along with (and watch a couple times first) .
He’s got a bunch of great videos. This one is only 14min long. I found having it visual along with my notes , very helpful the first time.
Hope it’s of help!
And np, you’re welcome
Very attractive, thanks .
Odd a bit that no one have told you here that SG don’t make London Brown, Scotch Black and Black Rappee anymore (and many others, not even Irish Ds). Besides, remaining SG snuffs now are made by GH and are of inferior quality. You would not recognize Kendal Brown.
The only still decent SG snuff nowadays is Silky Dark in 25 g tins. You can try ordering it from snuff.me.uk - afaik, this store doesn’t mention snuff on the declaration, so the parcel might pass through your customs without any issues.
I’d add another few of their dark blends to the list of decent snuff.
Hi @Giuxi
I have added Italy back to the countries mrsnuff.co.uk ships to. Try it out to see if it works. If you make an order let me know your order number and I will keep.an eye on it to see if it gets through.
Italy does not allow cross-border sales of tobacco, so… You can only sell candies to them folks
P. S. Are you even aware that your site is blocked by Italian customs?
Iceland does not allow cross-border sales of tobacco, too. Even if they allowed, there’s a ban on fine snuff - only locally made (by state monopoly) extra coarse snuff is legal there.
You haven’t done that part of homework, @Jonny - the list of the countries you ship to is odd, putting it softly. Sweden, for instance, does allow cross-border sales, and there are snuff taking guys who don’t mind paying all the taxes, but you don’t sell to them…
Geoblocking was another gross blunder of yours. Yes, I’m familiar with the reasoning behind it, and also read your explanation on shrinking the countries list, but it still seems a major mistake to me.
Ok Johnny. Thank you for your time!
Yes I knew something about London Brown and Black Rappee, but the hope is that someone still has some tins untouched yet.
They would be stale, pal. I made this mistake, procuring several old tins from some hoarder and a bunch of vac-sealed tins with the discontinued SG snuffs from some UK online store. The shelf life is merely some years. Never waste your money on stale snuff, unless you are a collectionist.
Does that apply also to hermetically sealed tin boxes?
No, I am not aware we are being blocked by customs, that sounds serious. Now I have removed the geo-block for Italy I can get in when I VPN in from there so I am not sure what to think.
Also, you are right, I didn’t do my homework regarding the legality for Italy. The geo-blocking was a crude mechanism to stop the flood of returns that was killing the business. It worked, but yes, I completely agree, it was not the best optics. Now we need to carefully add the countries back in to make sure we keep the returns under control.
Fwiw, the country list we ended up with may seem bizarre, but they were the countries that, regardless of any other considerations, were adding to our bottom line, as opposed to the others that were costing us money to sell to. We just followed the data.
But justifications aside, I do agree with you. Its a problem that needs better information to resolve, so thanks for the heads up.
Blow me, there it is. Banned by Italy - the shame of it.
Do you know how this ban manifests itself? I can get in via a VPN, so is there some Great Wall of Italy that stops normal users accessing these banned sites?
Dear @volunge, since you’re so kind and besides you seem to be an expert in the field, which are currently the snuffs that look like those I have listed in my first post?
