Illingworths K67

My dear Brother got me a can of this from ebay. From the can its from when Illingworths were a single company and the snuff inside is genuinely old judging by the taste, at this remove in time it could be anything but appears to be an SP with maybe Sandalwood in there. Judging fropm the tin it would be 1960’s at the latest.

K67 was a medicated snuff though after all this time any trace of menthol will be long gone.

Probably made in the late 70’s or 80s. K67-Medicated doesn’t appear on the Illingworth list until that time.

Thanks guys, it was a complete mystery to me. I used Illingworth snuff when they were a single company and can’t remember this one. My favourite was Dr Rumneys (from the picture of him on the tin, you would not let him treat you). The grind is similar to Dr Rumneys and as you say, all trace of menthol is gone. However there remains a decent and mellow SP with subtle under tones which I can’t grasp. It’s an interesting item and a nice addition to the collection.

Maybe a dash of Menthol could return this Snuff to it’s former self? It sounds like it’s mellowed with age into something wonderful on it’s own, though. I wish I could find something like this. Maybe a tin of original F&T Old Paris. (BTW, does anyone remember F&T cigarettes? They had a distinctly different paper on them. The burn lines were diagonal as opposed to horizontal.)

I get your point, but it’s a nice snuff so I don’t intend messing about with it.
