W.E.Garret Scotch. WOW! It’s a bit bbq. It packs a punch though. WOW! This was and is the snuff I was looking for…I just didn’t know it! I used to snoot a pinch of Copenhagen every once in a bit when I got tired of dipping…all it took was a little pinch…most of the nasal snuffs I have tried do not quench my Vitamin N thirst…I know I know I need some Quit…I really thought that was non-tobacco…lol… Is there any other snuff closer to Copenhagen?
maccoboy
London Brown Black Rappee
Dholakia White; Nicotine is absorbed quickly due to the fineness of the grind, NOTHING like Copenhagen. But it will give you a big nic hit.
I recommend SG Menthol Brown to a lot of dippers with great success. I rather enjoy it myself as well.
I’m with Xander. Maccoboy is as close as it gets. Pretty good nic hit too.
Someone on here once said Copenhagen was the first thing they snuffed, since it said snuff on the tin! Burns like a mother I bet.

Yep, that was me. I might try it again now being more seasoned and having read this.
Taxi red. I dip it as well as snuff it. damn strong.
I don’t see snuffing Copenhagen as being that different from snuffing NTSU or Taxi. It’s called snuff for a reason, even if 99.99% of Cope users dip it. If you like snuffing Cope I second cstokes’ recommendations from London Brown and Black Rappee. I would also recommend F&T’s Old Paris and Santa Domingo and Babaton Blue (an underappreciated South African snuff).
I never got into american chewing tobacco or dip so I haven’t actually seen cope but my buddy that dips told me its strong stuff. Maybe next time he’s got it I’ll ask to try a pinch.
Copenhagen has a great scent but could stand to be ground a bit more fine. The real issue is the amount of alkalizer. Perhaps a mix of plain leaf maybe even a fine cigar to dilute would make for something amazing. This idea is now on “the list”.
@TomStrasbourg I’m one of those selfsame fools, although I chalk that blunder down to age…I was only a lad.
+1 on the NTSU and Taxi red. Damn, now I have a serious hankering for some Copenhagen. I haven’t had that stuff since I was a kid.

I have Taxi Red and Blue and NTSU…to be honest a small pinch of Copenhagen up the nose is just as good if not better…THINGS IM LEARNING…Not sure if any of the above are actually supposed to be “dipped” or “snuffed”… Some of the stuff I thought was supposed to be snorted is actually supposed to be “dipped”…ie American Scotch
Samuel Gawith Kendal London Brown. It gives me a little lump in my throat if I really pull on it.
Camu, wait… You’re supposed to dip American scotches such as WE Garrett? I have huffed like half a tin and think it is pretty nice! That stuff is pretty wicked put it sure wakes me up in the morning with a nic hit unlike anything else. So that South African stuff is supposed to be pretty powerful as well?
@Zimobog the origin of the word “dip” in relevence to tobacco refers to the practice of dipping one’s finger or a stick or a brush into one’s snuff and sucking on it or rubbing it on the gums. Scotch snuffs are most commonly used this way, but are, at their core, still nasal snuffs. Moist snuffs like Copenhagen are something of an amalgam of this practice and Swedish snus.
Thanks, Xander. For a minute I thought maybe I was doing it wrong
In the end “supposed” is the wrong word to use for any of this. Scotch snuffs are supposed to be snuffed because that’s how they were designed over 300 years ago. In the time between then and now people began to put them in their mouths and eventually became a majority of the users of these products, so sweet snuffs were introduced because it was assumed by the makers that it was going to end up in the mouth anyway. So sweet scotches are “designed” to be used orally, but are simply snuff with added sweeteners. Conversely snuff with pre-added moisture holds together better in the mouth, so Copenhagen was invented followed by many others (the Nordic name not a coincidence, as it was modeled after what the Swedes and Danes were already doing). It was simply a manufacturer follwing consumer trends. There reallyis no “supposed” when it comes to tobacco products (we have people here who snuff cigars!) -Use it however you want, and don’t bog yourself down with what you think was the maker’s intent because in many cases. the maker is long dead and his 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th generation heirs aren’t terribly concerned with what you do with it once you’ve bought it. Am I making any sense?
You’re making no sense at all. If you use tobacco the wrong way the ghost of it’s maker will curse you to have chronic nose itchs.

This bob knows about such matters
On the complete opposite side of this subject is the saying on the tap box of Amostrinha. “take this excellent tobacco for the nose only” I wonder what prompted that to be put on there.
Kids and the wrong place. Yup eyeballing snuff. Or maybe it’s like alcohol producers that pretend you’re only buying it for the taste, since nose can also mean the way something smells. Like take for the smell not for the nicotine lift.
I wouldn’t mess around putting Copenhagen in my nose… It has too many chemical additives!
Just took a pinch of Copenhagen , Didn’t smell any chemical additives .
It looks like there is more crap in the skoal snus than in anything else. Hahaha @Juxtaposer I had no idea this was out there. This will shut a lot of people the hell up. There are a few I will wield this weapon against. Thanks for it.
@Dogwalla its required by law to make this publicly available, although USST makes it easier to access this information than other companies. You’ll find their scotch snuffs listed there as well.
Always wondered what flavor is Copenhagen Snuff ?
Germany also has such laws. http://service.ble.de/tabakerzeugnisse/index2.php?detail\\_id=101363&site\\_key=153&stichw\\_suche=lowen&zeilenzahl\\_zaehler=1 I run a few pages though the translator every now and then.
@kurtsnose I’ve heard geranium flower, so “manly” floral haters can suck it!
I just like the fact that I can use dip with my ghetto diy icetool and it works amazingly well. I have been upper-lipping dip since the first time I figured out that there isn’t any juice with dip that way. The icetool makes it fun for some strange reason.
I made this thread awhile back and now rereading I’m still lost. I got my Toque Quit so I no longer put Cope up my nose. I will say it was really enjoyable when I did. I had a hangover ok. In my lip with a hangover I thought I was gonna die. A small snoot up my nose and a wonderful burn and I felt so much better. Copenhagen is a wonderful tobacco I just didn’t know it until somebody told me so…LOL America did/does something right. I just think you shouldn’t live by it…really hard to do as it just wheeps nicotine. WIth Toque Quit on hand I can go days without urges for Cope. I treat Cope like a fine cigar now. Not a lip filling every hour apon hour device. A steak off the bbq grill. Yah I’m gonna take a pinch in the lip. A burger from McDonald’s nope. Copenhagen has become my once in a bit thing. Get some Toque Quit and a spoon and snort pinches of the stuff and you will hardly miss the ammonia drenched salty goodness.
O and I got the D. WHite. And I love it. But even after a two months with it, it still kicks my ass like vodka. It’s sneaks up on you. It demands respect. It’s wonderful though. And even talking about it I’m gonna have to take a snoot. I recommend Toque Quit. You cain’t really hurt yourself with it. You can snoot Quit all day long. You’ll get plugged before you get hurt. The D. WHite will kick your ass if you don’ watch it. SHOW RESPECT THIS AIN"T BEER SNUFF THIS IS EVERCLEAR SNUFF IT WILL KICK YOUR ASS. That said I didn’t listen x3 and I’m still going back for it. I actually hate praising a snuff. I just feel like this is that one time that another snuff deserves recognition. D. White will get you right when you are drinking beer and want a cigg or cope chew. Otherwise Toque Quit works everytime for that every other time. It’s wierd too cause I don’t crave Toque Quit like I do Cope. I snuff Quit when I want too. For an addict personality this is wierd.
I’ve always thought Cope had a strong African geranium taste, similar to some F&T blends. Looking at the ingredient list for U.S. Smokeless, I found it interesting that Carhart’s has maltodextrol and Red Seal doesn’t–they taste/smell so similar to me.
Maltodextrin is flavorless I just read on wikipedia.org
@Dogwalla I am trying to kick Cope habit as well, but have been sticking tobacco of all kinds in my cheek/lip as well for a number of years. I am only one of a handful of dip users I know who frequently “upper lip” it. Just stays put better there I guess! Plus, I gut the drippings. Unless I am having some long outdoor conversation I rarely spit at all. Always wondered if swallowing was bad for me? Aww who cares.
