If you like a snoot of Copenhagen snag some..

W.E.Garret Scotch. WOW! It’s a bit bbq. It packs a punch though. WOW! This was and is the snuff I was looking for…I just didn’t know it! I used to snoot a pinch of Copenhagen every once in a bit when I got tired of dipping…all it took was a little pinch…most of the nasal snuffs I have tried do not quench my Vitamin N thirst…I know I know I need some Quit…I really thought that was non-tobacco…lol… Is there any other snuff closer to Copenhagen?

maccoboy

London Brown Black Rappee

Dholakia White; Nicotine is absorbed quickly due to the fineness of the grind, NOTHING like Copenhagen. But it will give you a big nic hit.

I recommend SG Menthol Brown to a lot of dippers with great success. I rather enjoy it myself as well.

I’m with Xander. Maccoboy is as close as it gets. Pretty good nic hit too.

Someone on here once said Copenhagen was the first thing they snuffed, since it said snuff on the tin! Burns like a mother I bet.

Yep, that was me. I might try it again now being more seasoned and having read this.

Taxi red. I dip it as well as snuff it. damn strong.

I don’t see snuffing Copenhagen as being that different from snuffing NTSU or Taxi. It’s called snuff for a reason, even if 99.99% of Cope users dip it. If you like snuffing Cope I second cstokes’ recommendations from London Brown and Black Rappee. I would also recommend F&T’s Old Paris and Santa Domingo and Babaton Blue (an underappreciated South African snuff).

I never got into american chewing tobacco or dip so I haven’t actually seen cope but my buddy that dips told me its strong stuff. Maybe next time he’s got it I’ll ask to try a pinch.

Copenhagen has a great scent but could stand to be ground a bit more fine. The real issue is the amount of alkalizer. Perhaps a mix of plain leaf maybe even a fine cigar to dilute would make for something amazing. This idea is now on “the list”.

@TomStrasbourg I’m one of those selfsame fools, although I chalk that blunder down to age…I was only a lad.

+1 on the NTSU and Taxi red. Damn, now I have a serious hankering for some Copenhagen. I haven’t had that stuff since I was a kid.

I have Taxi Red and Blue and NTSU…to be honest a small pinch of Copenhagen up the nose is just as good if not better…THINGS IM LEARNING…Not sure if any of the above are actually supposed to be “dipped” or “snuffed”… Some of the stuff I thought was supposed to be snorted is actually supposed to be “dipped”…ie American Scotch

Samuel Gawith Kendal London Brown. It gives me a little lump in my throat if I really pull on it.

Camu, wait… You’re supposed to dip American scotches such as WE Garrett? I have huffed like half a tin and think it is pretty nice! That stuff is pretty wicked put it sure wakes me up in the morning with a nic hit unlike anything else. So that South African stuff is supposed to be pretty powerful as well?

@Zimobog the origin of the word “dip” in relevence to tobacco refers to the practice of dipping one’s finger or a stick or a brush into one’s snuff and sucking on it or rubbing it on the gums. Scotch snuffs are most commonly used this way, but are, at their core, still nasal snuffs. Moist snuffs like Copenhagen are something of an amalgam of this practice and Swedish snus.

Thanks, Xander. For a minute I thought maybe I was doing it wrong

In the end “supposed” is the wrong word to use for any of this. Scotch snuffs are supposed to be snuffed because that’s how they were designed over 300 years ago. In the time between then and now people began to put them in their mouths and eventually became a majority of the users of these products, so sweet snuffs were introduced because it was assumed by the makers that it was going to end up in the mouth anyway. So sweet scotches are “designed” to be used orally, but are simply snuff with added sweeteners. Conversely snuff with pre-added moisture holds together better in the mouth, so Copenhagen was invented followed by many others (the Nordic name not a coincidence, as it was modeled after what the Swedes and Danes were already doing). It was simply a manufacturer follwing consumer trends. There reallyis no “supposed” when it comes to tobacco products (we have people here who snuff cigars!) -Use it however you want, and don’t bog yourself down with what you think was the maker’s intent because in many cases. the maker is long dead and his 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th generation heirs aren’t terribly concerned with what you do with it once you’ve bought it. Am I making any sense?
