I’m afraid I have to agree with our disorderly friend there. While I do absolutely love love love the stronger flavours, I’d prolly just quit using snuff after a while. (Well, not really. I’d just start trying and making my own favors, ¡Viva la revolución!). But Quit, it’s darn tasty, and not too thick of inyourfacedness.

Looks like there’s a definite trend towards Quit, O&G, Garret and NTSU. All fairly strong choices if I’m reading right. Thanks a lot everybody. Now I have a good list of snuff’s I have to try beyond what I’ve so far had a go at.

The way I was thinking is there are snuffs I use more then the strong ones. There are snuffs I like better but every once in a while the only ones that will scratch the itch are the strong snuffs.

I find the scotches are the ones to scratch that itch for me. Just a bit too strong for all-the-time-only use.

I agree with the above. You didn’t say favorite or most used, you said “just one.” I use Rooster and O&G way more than NTSU, but if I had only one, I’d go for strength.

If I had to choose today it would probably be Tops Mild Scotch. I have the complete selection of American snuffs and I have to say this one stands above the crowd for me. Of course, if I could only choose one to flee the country with, quantity comes into the equation. I have a nice and full 4.65 oz tub of tops, but if I couldn’t grab it I would reach for one of my half pound tubs of Wilson’s Raspberry or Extra Crumbs of Comfort.

Got an order in from WoS last week, and in addition to the perhaps 9 or 10 of their snuff’s I’ve tried as well as McChrystal’s Apricot, I have allready used half a can of F&T Santo Domingo. Echoing some of the above remarks, I would definitely go for the SD if I could have only one, because of the strength, ease of taking and even the cool old time tin. I was complaining about the lack of a “hit” when I first got on here, but that was then and this is now. The SD has serious kick, and as I grew up around cows and horses there is a nice olfactory nostalgia there, as it so much smells like a cow pen. Great stuff. But also like you fellows, I would be hard pressed to give up some of the others, especially Raspberry and CoC. Got some Taxi Red and Blue coming, should be interesting…

Taxi should satisfy your need for cow pen smells.

But the real question is: what if you could only have one brand?

@ Pike Mopers: THAT is a much tougher question. Toque, Wilson’s Mcchrystals, US Smokeless, F&T and Bernard all pop into the front of my mind.

Only one snuff…what a depressing thought. I’d have a hard time choosing one of each type without misgivings. If my house was on fire and I could grab just one on the way out, perhaps Spanish Jewel because it’s irreplaceable. But it’s not an all day snuff for me. Think I’ll have a pinch right now!

At one time, I would have said Dholakia Sparrow Cool… but right now, I really don’t know.

If I had to pick one, based on the ones I have had, I think Toque Whiskey and Honey might be top of the list. Ken

Toque Natural or Wilsons IHT#22. If I had to stick to one snuff only it would definitely be an unflavoured one.

I’d probably be fine with Toque Natural, but SG Irish D over #22.

@enten-eller SG’s is a bit too sweet for me, but also very nice. I prefer more bitter taste though.

I like bitter too, but I think the little extra smokiness of the #22 might be too much (all the time) if that was all I had. I’d manage w/it though. But yeah, I mostly prefer bitter over sweet. One of the less smokey americans come to mind. I’ve found that even stored well and in the nice tins, F&T HDT loses strength after a couple of years or so.

@Ardrasath how many tins would you have to take along to a desert island? 3 or 4 a day right?
