People on these pages seem to take lots of different snuffs. I’d like to know what the favorites are. At present I’d probably go with Lundy Foot.

J

Juxtaposer brand snuff of course.

C

So far Swiss chocolate, it makes wilsons natural seem like hay.

K

Brand; 6Photo. Snuff; 6Photo Kailash.

I

Sam Gawith…no matter how much I take, I never, ever, EVER plug up. Some darn fine blends to choose from, too.

V

FC Bayern.

H

For well balanced, non-dusty grind it would have to be Samuel Gawith, and for snuff their Black Coffee, though lately the excellent Wild Duck has been running it a close second. Blue Crest is good too, that’s the closest thing I know in snuff to having a cup of tea. Not saying Jaap Bes doesn’t turn out some excellent snuffs, Pompadour was the first of his I tried and is still a favourite, Wilson’s have their good ones such as Best Dark, though since snuff opened my airways up a treat I find some of their fine grinds hard to take (ditto McChrystals), I like the scents and grinds of most Fribourg and Treyer, and Abraxas St. Casura is a good one, but overall what I’ve ordered from Samuel Gawith I’ve liked every time.

J

If I was stuck on a desert island with only SWS, some fish to catch, and a few friendly female natives, I’d make damn sure not to get rescued.

C

It’s too hard for me to pick just one brand. I have three (soon to be four) snuffs that I like enough to buy in bulk, all from different manufacturers.

H

6 Photo Kailash

K

Might be too soon to say this, but I’d definitely want F&T HDT to go with me. This is just from one pinch, mind you.

H

White Elephant because it’s so satisfying and the scent is so complex once you acquire a nose for it.

D

Hmm… I’d have to say WoS. They aren’t necessarily my favourite maker, but they have an enormous range, and they also make F&T (is that cheating?)

I was wondering why my F&T also has WoS on the label.

M

I have my hearth divided between WoS (I’m with @doctorbeat) and 6 photo, whose 8 grams tubs are getting empty too fast and becoming my medicated snuff of choice. The third place in the podium goes to Bernard. I’m fairly surprised with 6 Photo because they aren’t just outstanding producers of vintage recipes but also have the will to innovate and bring new snuffs with that unmistakable Indian touch on them. Their active presence on this forum and on the net is a plus, also. They also provide Rustica and Tabacum “virgin” floors to be used by snuff artisans, and I think this forum owes the quality of some of their favorite artisan snuffs not just to the genius of their creators, but to the friendliness of the fellows at 6 Photo. WoS is a fairly more conservative brand and most of their snuffs are not so good in my opinion, but they preserve the F&T and Frederick Tranter lines of classic snuffs which is a very important labor (and means Macouba, Bordeaux and HDT!). They could use from more innovation and higher quality flours, though. Bernard, though their line is indeed less extensive than those of Wilson and Pöschl, have the best quality average of any “macro” snuff producer. Everyone of their snuffs have a different base and a well crafted and matching saucing/aroma. They’re also fairly innovative and care a lot about the artwork of their snuffs (I expect every launch of a new Bernard snuff with the same emotion I’d have when my favorite band releases a single: not just for the music, but also for the cover art!). The thing with Bernard, however it’s that most of their snuffs are not all day/every day snuffs to me. The Imperial Tobacco and McChrystal’s brands provide me with some of my favorite snuffs, but their lines are too small to be eligible. I feel my main snuffer fault is not having sampled enough of Sam Gawith offerings (I haven’t even tried Viking Black, for Santa’s sake!) but I have the feeling it would be up here if I had done.

F

between mcchrystals for their O&G, and abraxas for his firedrac. probably abraxas to be honest.

B

Glad not to have to make these choices. I stick to Hedges and F&T HD Toast. For hypothetical’s sake, I’d just buy both and put them under the same brand.

S

McChrystal’s O&G for me, one of the first I tried and I still love it

S

As of late, St. Casura has been a good portion of my daily intake. So that gets my vote.

S

Definitely WOS for me. Especially wos irish toast 22.

N

Havana Toast. Desert island, never another snuff and no looking back I could sniff this snuff forever. That is with Havana having the strangest grind I have encountered, was a bit hesitant at first, but it sit so softly in the nose. Viking(dark, smokey batches) would be the hands down favorite for one and only snuff if it wasn’t for HT driving me nuts.

Hasn’t Havana Toast been discontinued?

L

… Hasn’t Havana Toast been discontinued?

No, it is being made again. Don’t know when new stocks of Havana toast will be back with MrSnuff / SnuffStore. Hopefully it won’t be too long to wait.

That is good news. I have not tried it yet, but it was on my list of snuffs to try.

N

SWS

M

^^^ What my learned (and handsome! ) Greek comrade says :))

S

Welllll… Only one huh. As time goes on and I try more and more this is tough. But I am going to declare a tie… Old Mill and Sir Walter Scott. They both are so creative and wide ranging in styles. Well layered and nuanced. Never tiring.

R

I always come back to Taxi red.

N

Hands down Old Mill. Butternut Toast and Pure Virginia Toast for my everyday, and Conundrum to spice things up.

J

Brand would be Wilsons of Sharrow on account of the variety (although if I lived in the US that might switch to Old Mill!). However, if I could only have one snuff ever again, it would be Sternecker Echt Fresko.

S

Snuff I would go with either a menthol or an SP. Brand I would go with McChrystal’s

R

Any poschl.

S

I would also like to say WoS purely for the sake of range, but since they do not make any schmalzlers, this really is a choice between Pöschl, Sternecker and Bernard. Sternecker falls off because the range is non-existent. Pöschl fights hard with the range, but since I do not like most of it, the winner is Bernard.

J

F&T one 25g tin for each of their variets of snuff

M

I would have to pick two–Hedges and NB Madras. Hedges for morning and night and NB Madras to get through the day.

K

Samuel Gawith : Banana

W

If I can only have one brand I should stick to WoS, not my favorite but their overall quality is more than ok and have a big range of flavours and grinds so I won´t get bored in a long time.

K

Probably 6 Photo. If not, definitely Wilson’s just for the massive amount of flavors

S

So far in my snuff walk my fav’s are Viking brown and WoS Sandalwood. I just received them today but I don’t think I could go without now. WoS winter warmer is also fantastic.

J

Right now I’d have to go with Viking. The 2 would be Dark and Spear.
