Iconic, must-have snuffs from each company.

Everyone has their own taste, of course, but there definitely seems to be some snuffs that are agreed to be great. I’m wondering what the most iconic snuff from each company is? Here are my guesses from what I’ve gathered on this forum and some that I’ve tried myself. Toque - Quit Viking - Dark McChrystals - Original & Genuine Fribourg & Treyer - High Dry Toast these seem like they’re the consensus “best” by their respected companies. Let’s get some opinions for those (like myself) who are looking to sample each brand!

I always disliked posting in threads like this and the top 5 or 10 snuffs ONLY because it is just so hard to pick my best or favorite. My tastes change from time to time but I always come back to a similar rotation of snuffs. Which is around a dozen different scents/types of snuff. But for the sake of maybe helping a fellow snuffed try something they might not have and like it I will give it a go. So as of right now (my list would probably change by the end of the week) here is my list. Wilsons-grand Cairo McC-hops 6 photo- anarkali Toque-sp extra Abraxas-premium fin Gawith hoggarth-sandlewood I know I left a bunch out but it was hard enough picking these

i have to say, it is hard to pick one from abraxas, id recommend all snuffers try dragun/firedrac (depending on the taste for fine snuffs)

@bsssdd I’ve had 3 of the 4 and I couldn’t agree more, 1 more to add WOS Tom Buck or would it be DHT#22 I haven’t had that one.

Toque: Spanish Gem SG: Black Coffee (iconic to me) Abraxas: Premium Viking: Dark NTSU: Black I don’t have a strong enough opinion or enough experience with the other companies to weigh in.

WoS Best SP F&T any snuff McC O&G Toque Pomegranate Poschl Gawith Apricot 6 Photo Anarkali I don’t have enough experiance about other companies yet.

Toque Whiskey and Honey, and all their flavored toasts WoS Gold Label and Royal George (almost forgot) Swisher Superior, Navy Sweet, and Honey Bee SG Kendal Brown Original, Any of the Crests, though I haven’t tried the blue crest

Toque - W&H, Camphor & Clove McC - O&G SG - KB Plain F&T - HDT 6 Photo - Kailash WoS - Crumbs of Comfort

Haven’t tried it myself yet (want to), but isn’t Fribourg & Treyer’s Santo Domingo really popular?

Haven’t tried it myself yet (want to), but isn’t Fribourg & Treyer’s Santo Domingo really popular?

yeah, a favourite of mine, but as i dont go through it quick enough i cant justify buying it and losing the tin to mould before i finish.

GH- Kendal Brown SG- Elmo’s Reserve F&T- Princes and Santo Domingo, both so good I can’t decide Bernard- Doppelt Fermentiert and pretty much everything else they make DKM- Prins Regent and Chococreme-L both great for different reasons WoS- Grand Cairo and from SA, Taxi Blue and NTSU Green are both outstanding

well this thread just shows me how much taste differs and also how many great snuffs are out there! I used to be content to just smoke one brand of cigarettes… snuff… not so much.

@stapf I really love the sg black coffee as well. Also on my list would be Bernard’s fichtennadel . McCrystals menthol is a great one for me as well.

SG: Kb Original, Dr Verey’s, Grousemoor, Golden Glow, more to try. How many from each company again?? WoS: the Sp’s, the Menthols…

Not necessarily my favorites from each, but most companies have a flagship product. These are: Bernard: Schmalzlerfranzl Brasil Doppelt-Fermentiert Pöschl: Gletsherprise (a close rival would be Gawith Apricot, but this is a contract made brand from Gawith-Hoggarth) Wilsons of Sharrow: Best S.P. McChrystal’s: Original and Genuine J&H Wilson: S.P. No. 1 High Mill Samuel Gawith: Kendal Brown Original Gawith Hoggarth: Kendal Brown Toque: Original American Snuff Company: W. E. Garrett Thats all I can come up with at the moment, but those at least should be a foundation for any beginner’s “must try” list.
