Hi there fellow nosefillers!! I have noticed one Great Thing since I started snuffin’ my mind away and that is that I never get any colds anymore as I frequently (very often) got before starting to vacuum snuff up my snout! Does anyone of You members have noticed the same effect? I would be happy to hear Your expieriences of this amazing thing!
have you been smoking before?
@Viertel - I quit smoking 18 years ago with the help of swedish snus but it wasn’t until I started with snuff 2,5 years ago that I noticed with great pleasure that my colds were gone. And there is no difference if I use mentholated snuffs or others. It seems to me that snuff keeps the bugs away, ha ha! :D/ And I don’t have to snuff much either but that varies from time to time - sometimes I’m like a lunatic with the ‘powder’ and else I go easier on the tins…
i get ill with cold less too. it doesnt completely protect me, but it has definitely reduced my instances.
well, that’s interesting. i wish i have less colds. i’m ill quite often.
I have not had one sinus infection since taking up snuff. I got at least one a year before that.
The general consensus does seem to be that tobacco kills bacteria…
This could actually be the long sought for Cure for colds as I see it! And it would turn Hundreds of millions of people into decent snuffusers as we guys! Not bad @bob and @Mario84 and @Firestarter0 or what do You all think? -‘Don’t want a cold - snuff a whole heap of tobacco powder’!
@Viertel! Try having some serious SnuffMarathons with all kinds of snuff (especially strong ones and big heaps) and blow Your nose frequently to kill’em bugs for good I tell You! Make them never want to come visit Your nose again!!! =)) I want You to get cured!
I’ve just have had a cold, and just coming through the other side now. I’ve felt run down and had the aches, but hardly any head symptoms. None of the congestion and thick vile snot normally associated, except maybe twice, first thing in a morning. I’ve been using non-mentholated snuff

@50ft_trad- interesting…so Your cold was a bit easier than usually then? Could it be a climate issue or something else that affects us differently when it comes to snuff and colds? I live in Svealand here in Sweden and we do have extremely lots of both colds and influensas here generally but none of them seems to hit me anymore…and it all depends on my snuffing habit- there is no other explanation as I can see. :)>-
@Nuuska Yes, the cold was much easier. In fact if it wasn’t for the fact I knew my neighbour had a real heavy cold, and the couple of brief snotty moments, I might have even attributed the tiredness and aches to something else and not thought I had a cold at all. It’s like I had the virus, but without the predominant symptoms. Actually … I only very recently was able to use toasts. Maybe that’s related … a very minor congestion perhaps :-? I’ll need to try them again when I’ve fully shook this bug off
Nice. Snus for illness, an excellent idea! Raises glass for Sweden! Skål! Lets just hope, however snuff is recognised, that it still stays relatively cheap and prescription free! @50ft_trad , so what works best during illness for you? Toast?
Not sure really, I wouldn’t consider myself experienced enough in snuffing with colds to comment - other than to say I have never had any problem getting Berwick Brown up my nose, and I’ve been snuffing a fair bit of that recently My comments on toast was due to the fact I can’t normally take them - but recently I could, so I wasn’t sure if the cold actually made it easier for me to use a finer ground (rather than preventing me use anything else). Hope that makes sense
I am sensitive to mishandled food other than that I haven’t been sick over 30 years. Let’s keep this on the down low if BIG PHARMA finds out all tobacco products will be band. Tobacco = long life
@basement_shaman - You’re totally right! Those fuckers have already banned the Benevolant Herb because they want to keep the patents on their damned expensive chemicals!! By the way - @basement_shaman…are You a Native American? I’m just curious because I have got that impresssion of the way You use english? And how did You choose Your alias name? I don’t want to be ‘nosey’ - I’m just curious as I mentioned…Hookah hey! Nuuska.

@Nuuska, I have SnuffMarathons every evening - while I’m reading, writing, watching… but I have never noticed it would help. That’s great snuff helps you, but i want this too!
Late last year and early this year I felt colds starting up on two separate occasions. The first time I was checking out some Toque Christmas Pudding that I had recently received - delightful snuff by the way - and the early symptoms just disappeared. As a result when I felt another cold arriving some weeks later I reached for the same snuff and - the same result!!! I think I did post about it on here as I was so amazed. I am, unfortunately, quite old enough to know my body and the initial symptoms of colds, and how they progress, so I don’t think it was false alarms. The next time I get the symptoms I will immediately reach for the Christmas Pudding and see what happens.
@Viertel - I feel deep symphathy with You trying to cope with Your colds…have You tried 6 Photo Super Chetak? That’s a snuff that surely blows any fuckin’ cold away or J&H Wilson’s Medicated No.99? Or even a couple of really Big Heaps of Dholakia White from the back of Your hand? I wish You luck because I know what a pain in the ass colds can be…Good luck trying my fellow Snuffer!
@chris! That’s the spirit!! Just snuff the fucking colds away with whatever label You prefer as long as it has some ‘juice’ in it! I’m glad that You shared Your expierience to us all here on this Great Forum!
@Nuuska, well, I have JH Wilson Medicated and I did what you said. Now I remember why I don’t like medicated snuff. It is painful! Pure pain goes through my nostrils, right in the head and it is not this “good kind” of pain. … and I feel a bit better. But it could have been an aspirin too. Mainly aspirin, I think, but I keep trying that strange treatment, I’ve got nothing to lose but my nose.
@Nuuska The world may never know >-)
@Viertel - I must say You have guts trying to snuff something that causes You that kind of pain, he he! But well done even if I recomend You taking a strong nonmentholated snuff instead if You don’t cope with the medicated ones…It works as well too as me myself went on once for 8 months without mentholsnuffs whatsoever - during that period I just couldn’t manage them for some reason but still I didn’t get any colds… One thing I always do in a preventive way is that always I have been out in crowded places like shops or healthcenters or in the nearby cities here I always take a good load of ‘juicy’ snuff directly after to make sure any eventual bugs bite the dust! Do not take snuffs You don’t like @Viertel…it should always be a pleasure the snuffing expierience I mean…
@Nuuska The world may never know >-)
He he, @basement_shaman - I respect if You want to keep Your identity a secret but I usually have a good knowledge of people…so I will have my own opinion of who You are. But however I think You are a very nice person here at the forum and else too I think!
@Nuuska I completely agree with you regarding the curative effects of snuff! I am very new to snuffing but before I started I had to see a doctor for a decadron injection, an antibiotic prescription, and a steroidal nasal spray a minimum of three times a year for raging sinus infections related to allergies. Since snuff I have had nary a problem and survived ragweed season unscathed! Aside from the joy of snuff in general that fact is worth the price of admission by itself.

@nikonNUT! That is great to hear from You! I just filled my nostrils with the heavenly Hedges ‘The Snuff’ sent to me from my Good Buddy ‘nuusku’ who lives in my parents country Finland and if that doesn’t keep any cold away I would eat my leather winterboots for sure - after cooking them for a couple of hours or so…But as @basement_shaman said we maybe only should keep this secret here at SnuffHouse or otherwise some fuckin’ Big Pharmaceutical Company takes our benefits away…Thank You for sharing this most interesting information to us all Snuffers spread across the Gloab! Where do You live by the way if I may ask @nikonNUT? Cheers and happy snuffin’!
cheers mr Nuuska! and fellow snuffers as well! this topic is quite interesting… back in my grandparents days cetting a cold was a rare occation. some folks never were sick! in many states in USA it’s illegal to criticize food industry, anyone wonders why?!? watch the “food inc” and that one is seriously censored! but effective documentary… “we are being malnourished but overweight” perhaps we get a bit of minerals from smokeless tobacco or it just strenghtens us…? as a holy herb should do =D clearing the sinus department is known to be beneficial for milleniums …at least in India and sertainly snuff does that to me!! mentholed or not. but the food from the big corporations is propably not worth of having if you want to stay healthy… is there some symbiosis happening with big pharma?! that’s the way real deal capitalism would work… making people weak and buildind “new world order” while people are too busy trying to maintain their malnourished …corpses :o
This is an amazing thread. Fascinating testimonies. Thanks.
@Nuuska The curative effects of snuff will be our little secret. My location? I live in Hot Springs, Arkansas in the USA and hope to see the day when I can visit your beautiful county. @nuuska I agree whole heatedly with you regard to our food stuffs today! There is a web comic I follow (Neurotically Yours) and one of the rants the artist does (as Foamy the Squirrel) offers some thoughts that opened my eyes. Fair warning, the language is a bit salty… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMNqIDveOvc
Thank You @nikonNUT! You know that I like ‘Black Oak Arkansas’ with Jim Dandy? Good music!! <:-P
@Nuuska Black Oak, Arkansas is about 2 hours from my house. Go, Jim Dandy!
That’s just wonderful @nikonNUT! Jim Dandy has truly a voice of his own!! He’s albums are Great - especially ‘X-rated’ and ‘Great Balls of Fire’ but also the other albums too…Do You know @nikonNUT that I am a prowd owner of 1 square inch of land in Black Oak - Arkansas because I have a certificate from Jim Dandy himself in one of He’s albums, he he? =D>
Well, my cold seems to have gone, and I can’t take toasts again. Seems like I need to have inflamed sinuses for toasts to work in my nose. Bloody typical considering I have an unopened F&T HDT which landed yesterday 8-| Oh well, it’s not like I have a shortage of other new snuffs to try out
@50th_trad - Sorry You can’t take the Beautiful F&T HDT.Because I like all toasts of any label…
Some interesting studies: Antimicrobial activity of nicotine against a spectrum of bacterial and fungal pathogens http://jmm.sgmjournals.org/content/49/7/675.full.pdf Combined Effects of Chronic Nicotine and Acute Virus Exposure on Neurotrophin Expression in Rat Lung http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3632456/ That one would fit more to a “benefits” thread, but… Nicotine treatment for ulcerative colitis http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2014383/ And the last but not least: http://cvi.asm.org/content/11/3/563.full with a short article http://suite101.com/a/nicotine-antiinflammatory-h1n1-cure-a114895 Enjoy
Thank You @Viertel for these interesting scientifitical studies! <:-P
i believe im getting a cold or flu now, damn it. starting in my throat. ill see how it plays out.
@Firestarter0 get some zinc now ,start with 3 [50mg tabs] in the A.M then 1 before meals. Keep hydrated with hot lemon & honey tea. Feel healthier soon
start with 3 what… kilos? micrograms? i have some somewhere actually.

you missed it in basement_shaman’s post–50 mg.
I read something online last night about The Great Plague of London, and how tobacco users (smokers and snuffers) appeared not to be affected (or affected as badly) as non-users, which is partly why it was seen as beneficial to health for a while. Whether the tobacco acted as a repellent for the fleas, or tobacco acted medicinally for anyone bitten is anyone’s guess, but I thought it might be of some relevance here. Unfortunately I was under the affluence of incohol and didn’t make a note of where I read it. Oops!
@50ft_trad - Thank You for sharing! And don’t bother about the alcohol, I mean sometimes a man has got to booze away one night or two…

no i didnt- if you look closely, his post was edited. it wasnt there when i asked about it.

Whatever I was reading also mentioned nicotine’s effects on cytokine storms … :-??
Nice idea, but my browsers are set to delete their history on closure. Saves having a crap load of unnecessary files building up (old computer), and also ensures the browser shows up to date versions of web pages instead of archived ones. Unfortunately it’s not helpful on times like this, or when I can vaguely remember a late night drunken shopping spree and need to survey the damage …
Also @basement_shaman, i have 15mg tablets, and the daily recc. range for males is 5-10, with up to 50mg in a day (info not sourced from the same bottle). why would i be taking 150mg?!
^ because your sick and your body needs a jump start
@Firestarter0 - your 15mg are for healthy people as a daily regiment .150 will get it into your system so it can start to build your immune system. I only make suggestions it up to you how sick you want to stay. :)>-

@basement_shaman and i only ask questions because to take advice without question would be stupidity cheers for the advice, giving it a go anyway.
@Firestarter0 You have to learn somehow. They don’t teach this stuff in medical college.
I noticed that when I use mentholated snuffs I seem to avoid getting colds for some odd reason.
